Death does not make life easier Death by self is the worst way to kill the spirit of the loved ones, the increasing numbers of suicides across the globe do not make the life easier Akshita Singh

Baran: The world is in chaos, our country more so. The second wave of COVID-19 broke out when we all dared to restart the process of going back to a normal life. And now the fear of a third wave of COVID looming above our heads certainly does not make life easy. While some are losing their lives on hospital beds, some are giving it away due to the hardships of life. No family issues, social terrors and financial problems are small enough but suicide is never the solution. It breaks the hearts of the loved ones

of the victim and that of a stranger to hear about someone giving up on a life. The suicide statistics vary from year to year but the numbers never go down enough to not worry. While unemployment was a major reason why suicide rate increased in the past year the struggle of a student which already was serious enough without the pandemic has just pushed our future generation to the edge. Online studies have not been an easy task, and taking the measure of our developing nation the online classes are not even accessible to many students. The result of this is turning out to be a depressed, hopeless and suicidal youth. According to the data compiled by NCRB, every hour one student

commits suicide in India with about 28 such cases clocking day. Apart from these some of the other major reasons of suicide are love affairs, family conflict, and debt etc. According to WHO, about 800,000 people commit suicide every year and 135,000 (17%) of these are residents of India, a nation with 17.5 percent of the world population. Our country holds 6th place in the suicides by women with a death rate of 16.4 per 100,000 women and on suicides by men India is ranked 22nd with a death rate of 25.8 per 100,000. Jabalpur, M.P. is reported to have the highest suicide rate in the country at 45.1 per 100,000 which is four times the national average rate.

Bollywood x Sports

An Inspiration to youth

Suyash Khanna Jabalpur: Bollywood has a greater scope when it comes to influencing the young generation with the films based on sports. From the movies based on sports to biographies of sportsperson viewers believe the sportspersons to be their role models. People often get

influenced by the protagonist in such a movie and imbibe team spirit, leadership qualities, fitness regime and well-being from him

or her. Movies like Goal, Chak de India, Mary Kom, MS Dhoni, Dangal movies illustrated the talent identification, character,

ethics, professionalism and morality of a coach. Hawaa Hawaai showed that nutrition was a very important factor for a sportsman. Lagaan, Cycle, and kick showed that sports has been a medium of healthy warfare. Stumped, Iqbal, Hattrick, Meera Bai Not Out showed that Cricket was a common means of communication with people. Today sports movies have become an inspiration for novice sportsmen, physical educators, the medical sector and defence

sector, and researchers in the fields of sports and physical education. Sports personalities motivate the common man with their struggle and performance. All the sports movies try to capture the spirit of the game and the aspirations of a sports person who wish to play for her nation. All the sports biographies document the struggle, and dedication of the sportspersons inspiring a large young population of the country.
