Dear Readers and Moon Luvers, Spooky 3--like, is it even spooky at this point? Are you scared? Well‌ you better be. Turn these pages at your own risk. For future themes, submission deadlines, and anything else, be sure to check in with us online. (See last page.) Like our previous issues, the numbered pages are original submitted content. Other pages are altered by yours truly and unique to each edition of the issue. Thank you for taking a chance and picking up our zine. Hold on to it, or pass it on to the biggest scaredy cat zinester you know, as The Moon Zine is one of a kind.

The sound it makes to make Your ass tingle

Play it cool or don’t

Probably don’t because don’t But then do is the angle

What are you going to hold Onto she asks

Up up up up up

Maybe that was a little uncool To play it that way for this Is easier than before Don’t laugh

Such a change of heart Is surely unbecoming

Never gonna do Mr. Freeze However

Monster Baby by Katherine Beckner

A toothy, hairy thing. A grabbing and twisting. I am its mother. Locked inside that great machine I was immaculate and strange. I unscrewed my ears and took off my clothes and hoped that when he cut me open, he might take everything and then give it back to me, floating in formaldehyde or in a suitcase. Instead, he took a picture of me inside out and closed me up again so I was healed. so I was nothing but three scars and a hollow gut.

Disappearance by Katherine Beckner

An isolated numbness, my thigh began to disappear when you touched it. A psychosomatic symptom of our hands not fitting together, or my body cannibalizing itself. Once, I filled my belly with teeth and they ate their way out of me. Now it’s your animal belly, pressing into my back, which threatens to consume me. And, again, I will let it. Maybe if I never turn the page of my calendar, you will stay in my bed. While you lay beside me I’ll stare at the names of the days until they loss their meaning. I’ll stare at my burned and freckled my arms until they disappear.

“I started from my sleep with horror; a cold dew covered my forehead, my teeth chattered, and every limb became convulsed: when, by the dim and yellow light of the moon, as it forced its way through the window shutters, I beheld the wretch--the miserable monster whom I had created. - Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
