ANOTHER YEAR OF GROWTH

Golf Update from Rob Clark

I can’t believe another year has gone by and we are heading into winter. We have had our best year ever in terms of rounds played, participation in golf events, and support of the club.

This year we added new events including a Fall Member Guest and a Ladies Member Guest. The Junior Program and Ladies Program continue to grow and plans are already being made for 2023 including how we can do even better.

With growth comes change, and we've had a few changes to our professional staff. We lost Greg Harnage to a Head Professional position in Chattanooga, but we were able to keep Zach Weaver following his internship.

Emily Lankford most recently joined our team as a PGA Apprentice. Emily has a great golf background, and played collegiate golf at University of North Alabama. I am excited to add her to our professional staff. If you haven’t met her, please try to stop by and introduce yourself. I am very excited to announce that Taylor Price has begun the PGA apprentice program and he is officially in the PGA program. Taylor is such an asset to us, and we are grateful he has decided to pursue a career in golf.

Finally, we are promoting Jordan DeBonis to the title of Head Golf Professional. This is something that we have had in the plans for some time, but his good play has gotten in the way. He has qualified for the National Assistance Championship and couldn’t hold the Head Golf Pro title and play in the event. Jordan also won our Section Championship at Shark’s Tooth by four shots and will represent the section and The Ledges in the National Professional Championship the week of the Korn Ferry in New Mexico. I’m sure you will all join me in congratulating Jordan on his stellar achievements!

Lincoln Village Giving

Two years ago we began fundraising during the holidays for Lincoln Village Ministries. Lincoln Village is a special place in our community that provides affordable housing, education and program ming to families in need, all within a faith-based en vironment.

In the two years I have been involved we have been able to start a summer junior golf program for 40 children who would never get the chance to play golf. Several of them have potential to take it to the next level. I don’t think any of this would have been possible without the generosity of our membership. This year, our goal is to raise enough money for two year-long scholarships. If you are inclined to support this effort you can do so by charging your account or by sending us a check made out to Lincoln Village. We would like to have all donations by December 15. Your donation is tax deductible and a great way to keep your contribution local. Thank you in advance for your support.

Pro-Shop Christmas Sale and Tree Lighting

Tuesday, November 29, 5 'til 8 p.m.

Like last year we will move our shop up to the Ballroom to give everyone more space to do their shopping. We will have the ballroom filled with the latest golf and casual apparel from some of the best companies. If you still can’t find anything, try a gift certificate for a golf lesson or a custom club fitting.

This is also a great time to use any golf shop credit you have won over the course of the year. This happens to also be the night we light up all the trees in the clubhouse so make an evening of it by doing your Christmas shopping, have some dinner and enjoy the festivities. As always we will offer complimentary gift wrapping for all your purchases.

Golf Force

Over the years I have talked about how it takes time for a club to find its identity. It is usually around year twenty to twenty-five. I will tell you I think we are there. We are a golf club with family values and a desire to put a great product out for our members and their guests. We continue to strive for improvement and look for help from our membership to guide us as to what that looks like.

I have been working on an idea of inviting some of our members to join me as an ambassador of our club. I will be reaching out to some of you to gauge your interest in being a part of the Golf Force Ambassador Program. There is no cost, as it is one meeting this winter and you get an exclusive shirt that identifies you as a Golf Force Ambassador. When I reach out, I hope you will consider doing it.
