Greetings from The Education People Wellbeing Champions Workplace wellbeing has never been so important, so we are delighted that within The Education People we have a healthy mental health and wellbeing work culture. Part of our commitment to this is that we have introduced Wellbeing Champions - colleagues who play a lead role in advocating positive mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, and who can signpost you to resources and places to go for help, guidance and support. Our priority is to share our knowledge around mental health and wellbeing to help you keep functioning at your best. You can contact any of our Wellbeing Champions via email to request some time to explore your needs.

Kelly Hannaghan Hello, my name is Kelly Hannaghan and I work within the Professional Development Team at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I enjoy connecting with colleagues and want to ensure that the people within our community feel supported with their wellbeing and mental health. Something that you may not know about me is that I went on holiday abroad with my friends to Cyprus when I was 18 and got offered a job in a hotel and decided not to come home. I spent 1996 making cocktails and making new friends from across the globe and supporting them with their wellbeing and mental health. This is how I might be able to help you in my role as Wellbeing Champion, my goal is to empower you with proactive mental health learning, wellbeing toolkits and resources around mental health and support to help you live a fulfilling and balanced life. David Knox Hello, my name is David Knox and I work within the School Improvement, Secondary, Special and PRU / Skills & Employability Team at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I enjoy supporting colleagues and want to help people with their wellbeing within our company. Something that you may not know about me Many, many years ago in the 90’s I appeared on Romanian TV, playing Hockey against the national team, whilst on a mate’s stag do. Emma Jenkins Hello, my name is Emma Jenkins and I work within Outdoor Learning at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I believe in the importance of mental wellness in the workplace, as well as in life generally. Being a Wellbeing Champion allows me to learn from and share ideas with peers, to take back to the teams I work in, as well as support the company to continue to improve the culture of its workforce. Something that you may not know about me is that I am ambidextrous and can write with my right-hand forwards and my left-hand backwards at the same time (mirror writing)!! I love stationery so this is the perfect ‘trick’ to have. This is how I might be able to help you in my role as Wellbeing Champion, I can be a friendly ear, a sounding board or signpost to resources should you want them for yourself, a colleague, family member or friend. Joanne Clark Hello, my name is Joanne Clark and I work in the Training Team in Schools Financial Services at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I am passionate about mental health and wellbeing. I want ALL staff to feel supported with their mental health and wellbeing. I am a great listener and am non-judgemental. Please feel free to contact me if you need support. Something that you may not know about me is that I am an avid reader and love my music. I am also a musician and play the flute. I enjoy my holidays and am a keen visitor to Center Parcs where I find it so peaceful and relaxing – great for my mental health and wellbeing! This is how I might be able to help you in my role as Wellbeing Champion, I can actively listen to you and give advice and guidance to help support you become the best version of you. Tracy Hailstone-Ahern Hello, my name is Tracy Hailstone-Ahern and I work within the Primary School Improvement Team at The Education People I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I believe by supporting one another we are stronger as individuals and as a collective team. Something that you may not know about me is that I practise Shinrin Yoku (Forest bathing) which is a Japanese approach to wellbeing linked to the environment. Charlotte Burford Hello, my name is Charlotte Burford and I work within the Specialist Employment Service at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion as I like to support people in any way I can, this including looking at positive ways to promote wellbeing. Something that you may not know about me I am keen bird watcher in my spare time and am lucky to live by the sea so keep an eye out for rare birds that flock to the coast. Claire Anderson Hello, my name is Claire Anderson and I work within the Marketing Team at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I care about people. I feel it’s important that we all know there is someone we can speak to, so we don’t feel alone or overwhelmed. Something that you may not know about me is that I emigrated to the other side of the world and lived in New Zealand for three years! This is how I might be able to help you in my role as Wellbeing Champion, I am friendly and approachable, I will be that caring listening ear when you need it and can also point you in the direction of further help and support that’s available to you. Jeni Smart Hello, my name is Jeni Smart and I work in the Sufficiency and Sustainability Team at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I want to support colleagues to feel comfortable with discussing and improving their wellbeing. Something that you may not know about me is that I volunteered in a Pre-school and After School Club in a Tsunami Camp in Sri Lanka for 5 weeks. I helped the younger children prepare for a Christmas Nativity and spent my afternoons teaching the older children English. This is how I might be able to help you in my role as Wellbeing Champion, I can help bring awareness to wellbeing and encourage engagement in wellbeing activities, signposting to support available as required. Julia Palfrey Hello, my name is Julia Palfrey and I work in the Professional Development Team at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I want to improve colleagues’ health and wellbeing to achieve a positive morale and to decrease stress and anxiety within our company. Something that you may not know about me I played the cello with my local music academy orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall when I was 13. Tracy Howard Hello, my name is Tracy Howard and I work within the Early Years and Childcare Team at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I believe recognition and understanding of our own wellbeing is fundamental to our health, happiness, lifestyle and personal development which in turn supports our effectiveness as individuals, be that in our personal or work life. Something that you may not know about me is that I trained and worked as a chef when I first left school. I strongly believe that food plays a very important role in how we feel and how we motivate ourselves. Kelly Barrett Hello, my name is Kelly Barrett and I work within the Executive Office Team at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I enjoy being able to support others however I can. I want everyone within TEP to feel that they have someone to talk to no matter what the issue. No issue is ever too big or too small. Something that you may not know about me is that I have three very grown-up children and a one-year-old grandchild. I also love keeping active from hiking, dog walking, yoga, weightlifting and ariel gymnastics. Sue Walkling Hello, my name is Sue Walkling and I work in the Schools Financial Services at The Education People. Claire Smith Hello, my name is Claire Smith and I work in the NEET Support Team at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because I am passionate about promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. I also love talking about emotions and feelings! Suzanne Mayes Hello, my name is Suzanne Mayes and I work within the Governor Services Team at The Education People. I love being a Wellbeing Champion because it allows me the opportunity to connect with people outside of my service and gives me a chance to make a difference; offering support and providing me with a feeling of positivity. Something that you may not know about me is that I love the outdoors and decided at 50 to learn a new sport and now enjoy playing golf and have halved my handicap since I started playing. I am also a trained dance teacher in ballet, tap and exercise to music.
