Your Future In STEM: What Can You Earn?

Source: US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, www.bls.gov/ooh

he US Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the Occupational Outlook Handbook every year which provides data about occupation growth, the minimum level of education to engage in that occupation, and the annual media wage someone can expect to earn.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 11 percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand for these workers will stem from greater emphasis on cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security.

Employment in architecture and engineering occupations is projected to grow 3 percent from 2019 to 2029, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Most of the projected job growth in this group is in the engineering occupations, as their services will be in demand in various areas such as rebuilding of infrastructure, renewable energy, oil and gas extraction, and robotics.
