About Te Atatu AFC Who we are:

What we do:

Te Atatu Association Football Club is known as a club with a warm and welcoming environment and we offer opportunities to youngsters to play football at all levels and provide a pathway through into senior football through our development program for those that wish to play at the highest level. We also ensure that others that play sport for the enjoyment of doing so are also assured of a team in which to play at our club. The club has a no exceptions policy and offers opportunities for everyone.

The club embraces the New Zealand Football “Whole of Football plan through our program which has 180 youngsters participating aged from five years to eight years. The introduction of Whole of Football has proved very popular with parents and children alike. Te Atatu Association Football Club is a club run by a small group of volunteers. We are all enthusiastic and devote as much of our own time to the club as possible. However, all Executive Members have their own full-time employment and family activities to fit in around the football club.

NRF Men’s Conference Well what a great result for both the Fist and Reserve Men’s Teams last weekend. Both recorded hearty wins. Last time I saw Danny and Gagey smiling that much was when someone else was buying them a free drink? From the First Team’s perspective it was fantastic to score 8 goals last weekend against new opponents Puhoi... It was also great to see Rhys Caples grab a hat trick and Mark Withers a brace. Stu Roberts took great delight in sliding after scoring his thumping header and Harry Gage’s cross led to a superb oggie courtesy of a Puhoi slice. Finally, Nathan Rollinson (The Rocket as I like to call him cause he burns the grass he runs that quick) was also able to join the scorers. This week the opposition will be much tougher as Papakura not only fancy their chances of promotion, but they also had a large 5 nil opening day win over an average Norwest side. Their pitch is wide and expansive so you can expect a flowing game. Sideliner loves evening kick off’s as they provide a unique atmosphere and I hope we can get plenty of loud supporting Te Atatu fans to this weekend’s 5 pm kick off. We always appreciate our fabulous supporters. See you all in the McLennan Park club after the match. Dave Caples has agreed to shout everyone. Yours in Football Sideliner

Welcome back also to Ciaran Regan who rejoins the squad for this weekend’s important clash. Dave Eldridge has also returned from his Northern trip to buy hair restorer so we know everything will be in tip top shape in our changing room.

NRF Women’s Championship

There was much anticipation for Sunday’s face-off against Waiheke United, with the ladies keen to notch another win under their belts. Sadly thanks to the stormy Auckland Weather the game was called off and the ladies enjoyed a footie-free Sunday instead (with some sulking included). Watercare was the winner on the day.

NFF Conference Reserves Not a great start to the day with all men sides cancelled bar firsts and ressies which saw only the half of our lads getting a run, but the boys are a great bunch and we are one big squad and they came down to cheers the boys on and enjoy the festivities after in true Mudrat style. We knew Puhoi had won their first game and they would be a team that will put in full effort and will make the game messy. The game was well scrappy in patches broken up in parts by some nice footy especially through the middle of the park where the strong emphasis this year is small triangle and one touch passing through the spine. Eventually we started getting reward for the endeavour and eventually ran out 6-1 winners their goal coming in the last minute. Adam Cleverly again on the score sheet, Daniel Hough bagging on his debut, Tim Meyer with a thunderbolt from 30plus yards, Campbell Batt with one and two late strikes from Rob Pike finally hitting target after 2000 pre-season missed efforts J. Player of the Day went to Jake Barker who physically set the tone from the back and disrupted any attempt for them to push forward, cant attack if defence isn’t holding up. Roses are red, Nathans legs are long, BYO dinner, then his legs were Gone. He tino maumahara nui ka waihangahia e koe ka waiho koe ano , great memories are created when you let go and be yourself. Love this club

This weekend will be a test for the two teams as we get separated from east coast bays to Papakura but im sure the boys will step up and come away shining as usual. Well done to the Firsts on a good win and look forward to seeing you boys lead the way this year and make this season a banger.

Te Atatu Trojans aka "The Mighty Trojans" Competition: U9 West Pukeko Black; Coach: Anthony Kirk; Manager: Bridget Reitsma All the boys played either WJF or at our in-house Fun Football last year with a number previously having played in Te Atatu Midgets. Anthony has coached his older son for the past 2 years and now it's time to coach his younger son. Bridget has been involved in Midgets for the past 5 years with all 3 of her children playing for Te Atatu.

The mighty Trojans are a force to be reckoned with! Coming out of lockdown they are raring to go with fire in their bellies and fancy footwork to boot. The Trojans are ready to take on this season and they will be bringing their A game to every match, so look out West Auckland under 9 teams, here come the Trojans! Having 3 Noah’s in the Trojans it was decided that they would require 'on-pitch' names. It must be strange for Coach Anthony to be calling his son (one of the Noah’s) Jeff! With the increased field size, we have seen some great passing and playing into space already this season. The boys strengths are emerging in different areas on the field and in the two matches we've had so far they have been victorious!! The big challenge for the boys this year will be staying in position. Coming from 8th grade where the boys were playing in attack or defence to playing defence, midfield, striker and goalie has certainly changed things up a bit, but we are confident that the boys will slot into the new format well. Go the Mighty Trojans!

Junior Report So after only 3 weeks of play we are having to break for the school holidays! After this week the Juniors will have 2 weeks off, and Youth have the middle weekend off. Our teams have been performing so well over the last couple of games with some good wins and some hard-fought losses. Whether winning or losing, our players are all showing what it means to be a Te Atatu footballer with a great attitude and awesome sportsmanship. Thanks to all our coaches and managers who have been working hard since level 2 to get our players ready to take the field every Saturday. 8th Western Junior Framework After the first 2 game days, our young 8th Graders are yet to lose a game!! We have 2 teams competing in the Western Junior Framework and are based at Waitemata FC each Saturday morning. They play 3 games each morning against other clubs and this is their first season playing competitive football (other than in-house). Te Atatu Keas – Played 6 – Won 6 – Goals for 29 / Goals against 5 Te Atatu Tuataras – Played 6 – Won 4 / Drawn 2 – Goals for 20 / Goals against 8 This is an impressive start for both teams, WELL DONE!! Most of these players have been with the club since they were 4 yrs old as part of our in-house program. There are even a couple of brand-new players in the teams! This group is full of skills and determination, so we are looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season goes!!
