CHAROLAIS ASSOCIATION BREED AVERAGE EPD

21 years, 21 Mondays in April we have fired off a Bull Sale! It is definitely the most exciting part of the year for our program. The breeding fields and AI decisions from two years ago are brought forth every first Monday in April. Tough to imagine the decisions we make two years ago that truly define where our breeding program is headed. The basis of our program have not waivered and we will strive to put forth the best product we can. Our relentless pursuit of better genetics and stronger foot structure will never cease. We stand behind what we do, day in and day out, this program is built on a superior product and customer service.

To our customers, past and present, we say Thank You. This program does not exist without your support. You have supported us consistently and have been our strongest advocates of our program.

If the fall of 2023 did not get a cattle producer excited about the industry, I don’t know what else will do it. This market is record setting in so many ways; the demand for beef has crushed many hurdles the past couple years. The market for calves this fall looks much the same with the opportunity to lock calves in price insurance up to $4/lb on 600lb steers.

Charolais bulls are the ticket to raising those front end crossbred steers year after year. The demand for the tan or silver steer is not going anywhere, bull power has never been more valuable. The Charolais bull has expanded its horizon, we calve as well as any breed and will add pay weight to your calf crop. Our bulls are built to do just that, they have calving ease, performance, thickness, and sound feet. We stand behind our bulls and program. The bulls are fed a TMR from the time of weaning. They are not in a feeding competition, they are on a growth curve to achieve maturity and maintain soundness.

It is again a pleasure to be working with the hard-working folks at Wilgenbusch Charolais. The Wilgenbusch family continues to raise reputable Charolais cattle and is one of the top Charolais seedstock producers in the country; the quality and consistency in the 2024 offering is proof of that.

The Wilgenbusch crew harvests great quality forage annually, allowing the bulls to be slowly developed on a balanced, high forage based diet to maximize genetic potential and to promote lean muscle growth. The sale bulls are developed on the total mixed ration that is built to strengthen the longevity of the sale bulls on offer. The diet utilizes a chelated mineral package to enhance the bull’s immunity and complement growth patterns. The cowherd also utilizes a chelated mineral package throughout the year which is essential to the overall health and longevity of the sale bulls on offer. It is important that rumen health stays a priority throughout every stage of the bull’s development. The bulls diet along with the cowherd is continuously monitored year-round to ensure the animals’ overall health flourishes in the environmental and seasonal conditions.

We feed for athleticism longevity&

The entire pen of bulls has been developed on a high roughage, total mixed ration from fall weaning to spring delivery. The ration has been formulated to maximize nutrition. We like the bulls to gain 3-3.5 lbs/day, carrying moderate flesh, not excessive body condition.  We feel it is difficult to properly appraise these bulls when they carry excessive condition.

Longevity and athleticism is of highest importance  - structurally sound feet and legs are a must and we will not put any trait ahead of it. We are confident in the dam’s structure and the herd bull they are sired by or these bulls aren’t in the sale.

We understand that we are a performance driven breed and we strive to utilize genetics that add pounds to your calf crop without sacrificing calving ease.  It is important the genetics we select also leave you with desirable replacement females.

Legend has the assets and tools to be a true breeding herd bull. This fella has had the look since day one. Combination of power and refinement in this bull is remarkable. The muscle, balance, width of base, and tight sheath in Legend is impressive. His Epic dam is one of the real gems of the herd and has a nice track record. We feel confident in using Legend in our program, when you get another front end cow in a pedigree it adds value. We have some pretty good friends in Roblin, Mb, the Hunter family and on a regular basis we might trade some embryos. We got lucky and stuck a couple pretty good eggs out of Tank and a real good Dual Threat daughter. This fella is a stud from front to back, he is clean shouldered, strong headed, and deep sided. This bull is loaded with balance, square hipped, and length of spine. His full sister was a high selling female for the Hunters in the 2023 National sale in Brandon.

Loyal has had the look since he was first born, this fella is a stout muscled up beef bull. The combination of Hardball and this Zeus female worked really well. The spring of rib in this bull is impressive, he is massive in his lower third and has that swagger when you put him in motion. Foot structure on this herd bull is square on all corners and built for longevity. His dam has been one of the mainstay females around here and has a sound track record. TERMS AND CONDITIONS

TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds.  THe settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released.  The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.

BIDDING: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder.  Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives.  Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

DISPUTES: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved.  If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the lat bid.  The auctioneer’s decision is final.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue.   assume no liability, legal or otherwise for any accidents that occur.

PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.  Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.  All animals left with the seller must be insured.

LIABILITIES: All persons attending the sale do so at their own risk.  The seller’s assume no liability, legal or otherwise for any accidents that occur.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each animal will carry papers issued by the appropriate breed association.  A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

BREEDER GUARANTEE: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date or purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age.  The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder.  No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

EXCEPTION GUARANTEE: In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

INSURANCE: Wilgenbusch Charolais offers insurance and it will be available sale day.
