It’s with great pleasure we welcome you to our family’s 20th annual bull sale. It’s hard to believe 20 years have passed and time continues to quickly blow by. However in the last twenty years of hosting bull sales we sure have enjoyed the journey and the people along the way who have helped build our program to where it is today. Friends, family, customers and everyone who lends us a hand throughout the year thank you very much! We cannot do it without you.

Within this past year we have seen the cattle market reach all time highs. It’s great to see everyone get rewarded for all the long hours and hard work that goes into raising livestock. I truly think the price will continue to rise as the cow numbers are extremely low across North America. It’s time to surround yourself with good people, utilize great genetics and capitalize for supplying the safest and highest quality protein available world wide.

We are a family run operation that takes great pride in what we do around here each and everyday. It’s with your support over the last 35 years our program has reached milestones that we never thought were possible. Our program has never shifted with the fads or flavor of the month. We specialize in raising quality seedstock for the commercial cow calf operation. We like powerful cattle with modest birth weights that are sound, attractive and built for the long haul to make a difference in any operation.

Over the last four decades we have tried to build the best possible cowherd we can. Starting at the ground with feet, udders, fertility and fleshing ability along with disposition we feel are the most important traits. We highly recommend touring our cowherd if you get a chance. When you flip through the sale catalogue I hope you can appreciate the generations of the ‘LER’ prefix that have been bred into these cattle. We strongly believe in our program and the direction it’s headed. When you buy a bull from us you’re not just buying the bull, but you’re buying a part of the program and the cow family behind him.

In 2023 we had a great run with a couple of bulls we showed. Wheatland Dimensional 1147J, a former high seller in our 2022 bull sale was crowned National Champion bull. He now resides at JP Cattle Company in Manitoba. Themselves along with Red Willow Ranch have an exceptional set of sons selling this spring. We also showed PAW JUAN PABLO 121J who was the Grand Champion Simmental Bull at Farmfair and a top 10 finalist in the CN Beef Supreme at Agribition. It’s exciting for us to see the impact these bulls have made for us in their first calf crop and the role they will play in our program moving forward. It’s important to note the cattle we show are the same cattle we build our program around.

The sale bulls for 2024 have been highly anticipated. It’s always very exciting to watch them grow and develop. This year we will also offer some new sire groups that we are very excited about. Dimensional, JUAN Pablo, Next Century, Monument, W/C Right Now and Impact will be some of the bigger sire groups on the Simmental side. There will also be some other sire groups represented in the Angus division such as Turning Heads 29 , Ellingson Three Rivers,

SAV Jesse James, DL Rainmaker and Compass Mr. Tibbs. We definitely have selection and options for everyone to analyze. We strongly feel this is the deepest the quality has ever been. The uniformity and consistency has surely been admired by visitors.

Whether you are looking for a purebred Simmental, Angus, ¾ blood, ½ blood, cow bulls or heifer bulls we have what you’re looking for in all different styles. I think we have something for everyone that you can appreciate in different price ranges. The bulls have been developed in large paddocks where exercise consumes a large portion of their day. We like athletic, sound moving bulls that are fit and ready to cover ground. We mix our own bull ration for the bulls and are more than happy to show you what they are eating and what the ration looks like. We sure don’t believe in self feeding!! We are happy with the feedback we have gotten from our customers on how the bulls have matured and held up. We try to do the best possible job we can. We know buying a bull is a big investment and we want it to work for you and add value to your operation. I know when you read the sales report the average may seem a little high, but we sell a lot of bulls from $5,000- $9,000 making them affordable for everyone.

As we conclude the welcome its been gratifying to watch the success of Wheatland genetics in breeding programs across the country, AI studs and cow shows BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY HAVE WORKED WELL AND EXCELLED FOR THE COMMERCIAL COWMAN WHO PROVIDES THE BEST TESTING GROUND FOR ANY OPERATION.

Welcome to the Wheatland Cattle Co. Annual Bull Sale, March 21st at the farm Bienfait, Saskatchewan. Here in 2024, Vern, Denise and the boys will celebrate their twentieth anniversary of this outstanding event and we, at T Bar C, are proud to have been with them from its beginning. Over the past 19 years, Wheatland and their influence have seeded and changed the landscape of the livestock industry.

In its early beginnings four decades ago, the folks at Wheatland began building a cow herd, based on predictable cow families… and have rarely ever sold a breeding female, a record which is unmatched. Their livelihood is selling bulls. This dedicated family takes production very seriously… breeding cattle of predictable quality, presence, and performance. They eat, sleep, and dream better cattle… and at Wheatland, “dreams become reality”.

Throughout our travels visiting herds we are amazed by the Wheatland influence in the breed. Yes, they have produced and marketed many sires selected by fellow breeders, but their goal is supplying the commercial sector value added bulls to add pounds at weaning and predictable replacement females.

What an outstanding group of bulls to select from. You will marvel over the uniformity in type and kind! In addition to the muscle and mass, soundness of foot and leg, these youngsters have eye appeal and calving ease. Numerous breeder bulls are in the pens but there are sires for all programs and budgets.

Wheatland HERD HEALTH & VACCINE PROTOCOL

Our team at BoviGen is proud to be working with Wheatland Cattle Co. over the past few years. During that time, we have seen their genetics be used extensively throughout many other high quality seedstock operations and commercial cow-calf operations. Their reputation for superior genetics, coupled with high quality customer service speaks for itself.

We visit the Wheatland Cattle Co ranch several times throughout the year to ensure the health status of all animals in the operation. We have worked closely to design a customized vaccine and deworming strategy for each class of cattle based on the conditions, ensuring the cattle perform as expected when reaching your ranch. All breeding females are on a Zoetis health program ensuring optimal protection from BVD PI calves and ensuring high rates of passive transfer of immunity to calves. From birth to weaning all bulls are provided with a vaccine strategy that ensures these cattle are ready to face any disease challenge that comes their way.

Proper nutrition, high health status, and a lifetime of genetic selection has lead to highly fertile cattle. It is a pleasure working with donor cattle, and bulls that just plain produce. We routinely test Wheatland herd bulls at ranches in the surrounding area that are well into breeding careers. Fertile animals with sound structure results in tremendous longevity and functionality.

BoviGen is a large animal reproductive center based out of Moose Jaw, SK. Our Practice offers a comprehensive list of advanced reproductive services including In Vitro Fertilization, Conventional Donor flushing, Embryo transfer, and Owners Use semen collection. We are a CFIA approved laboratory for embryo export and provide a recipient herd for our clients. Our mobile lab is fully certified to perform all services on farm.

Purchased from Werning Cattle in South Dakota. This good looking son of Right Now is loaded with calving ease and growth. Backed by some of the greatest cows in the breed including the famous 8543. We don’t have as many sons in this sale because we got him late in the breeding season but will have a large group for our 2025 sale. Very excited for this homo polledhomo black bull’s future and the outcross genetics he brings to the table.

The reigning National Champion Simmental Bull that was the high seller in our 2022 bull sale going to the good folks at JP Cattle Comapny. He sires big framed, very long bodied cattle that have extra performance and pay weight. Very big nutted cattle with great feet and feed efficiency. His daughters are equally as impressive in the replacement pen and can’t wait to get them in production. In a time where cattle need more frame and length this is definitely the bull thats going to add extra pounds into your calf crop.

A high seller in our 2021 bull sale that has proven to be a great breeding bull. A go to for calving ease plus performance. Very docile cattle, big nutted, fertile and sound. WHEATLAND NEXT CENTURY 43H

Perhaps our greatest breeding achievement in the last several years. We have never used a red bull that has been this consistent and made cattle this uniform and good. Dark red, powerful, sound and eye appealing. His mother 123Y is still in production and looks incredible for her age. His sons have not started to play a big role in our operation. It’s been great seeing him sire cattle that have worked for the commercial cow man and seedstock producer. If you can buy a Century son go ahead and take advantage, they flat get it done.

Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

BIDDING: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes – Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

BREEDER’S GUARANTEE: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

EXCEPTION GUARANTEE: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Simmental Association and the Canadian Angus Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

PEDIGREE ESTIMATES: Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

LIABILITIES: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that
