RIGHT TO DRAW SEMEN: In the event that we would like semen on any of the bulls selling, we reserve the privilege to draw semen in the off season at our expense for in-herd use only.

DELIVERY: We will assist in making transportation arrangements outside MB and SK. All costs are the responsibility of the buyer. You may be asked to take your bull early if the truck is in your area. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Welcome to the 20th Annual “Best of the Breeds” Bull Sale on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Heartland Livestock, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. It has taken twenty years...but well worth the “weight!”

2024 is the largest and strongest lineup ever presented by the Best of the Breed consignors. In the past twenty years this sale has been a “onestop” shopping center in supplying value added sires for both commercial and purebred sectors alike. These breeds, the Whites, the Sims, the Gups and the Red and Black Angus compliment themselves in producing the ideal feeder calf and replacement heifers.

The Charolais offering is exciting...the Harcourts offer sons of Summit, Badge, and Patriot...homo polled, full of muscle and capacity. Dog Patch introduces a new outcross in Ruger, and the big weaning sire Highlight as well as a large lineup of sons by the predictable Houston. A great set of bulls with breeder potential. The folks at Fairview bring the strongest set of bulls since inception. What a Fleck/Fullblood offering they present. Mainly polled, and homo polled, this is one of the largest offerings of Fullbloods in the country. The Purebreds are hairy, rugged, and will work with all types of programs...reds, blacks, and blazes. Fairview can fill your Simmental needs.

Blair and family bring you a top set of Gelbvieh prospects sired by Hitch and Element. All homo polled...red in colour with one black heifer bull. These bulls are optimum in calving ease and will add pounds at weaning...you’ll want to keep their daughters for replacement pastures.

Black Ridge Angus offer sons of Homegrown, a new sire in their program...you will like their style, shape and hair with optimal birth weight. Sons of Bravo will add power, while Bankroll will add length and the DeWalt’s will add maternal replacement strength into his female progeny.

GOODVIEW GELBVIEH

Welcome to the 20th Annual Best of the Breeds Bull Sale. We are very excited about the bulls we will have on offer once again this year. We will have both red and black bulls that will work both on heifers, as well as performance bulls to produce those scale busting steers. Our bulls come from good footed, neat uddered, low maintenance cows. At Goodview we put a lot of emphasis on our cows, so you can buy with confidence knowing that the bull you purchased is from a sound, problem free cow herd.

Gelbvieh is a continental breed that has very strong maternal traits such as docility and rich milk that is produced in tight, correct udders. Gelbvieh will add that extra muscle to give your calves the extra pounds you’re looking for at sale time. Gelbvieh calves are born with vigor, which is one of the reasons Gelbvieh influenced females wean more pounds of calf per cow exposed. Use Gelbvieh bulls in your crossbreeding program to get early maturing, long lasting females, as well as sale topping steer calves.

We continue to use a high fiber developer program. We wean the bulls off on oats then after 60 days they are pail fed a bull developer ration along with barley silage and grass alfalfa hay. This diet develops a healthy rumen, while maintaining good long-term health. We target a 3.5 lb. average gain to develop good footed, long lasting bulls that will last for their new owners.

BLB Legacy 305L is an attractive herd sire prospect who we are excited to lead off the sale. BLB 305L has a proven pedigree sired by Flad Element 21E who has left his mark siring high selling females in the Function and Finesse female sale, and sons that work in both seedstock and commercial herds. 305L takes after his sire in looks and physical makeup with a big hip and large scrotal. His dam DDN Fancy 8138F has also made her mark. She produced three sons to date, all seeing herd sire duties in purebred operations. Hitch 23H and Kingston 221K both working here at Goodview and Jetson 124J walking the pastures at Royal Western Gelbvieh and Nelson Gelbvieh. Legacy 305L has a very balanced profile to go along with his overall phenotype. I believe he would fall into the birth weight moderator category. Being a versatile dual purpose bull that will sire beautiful females and stout sons. His progeny will come dark red with an abundance of hair and style. BLB Lucky 330L is our Feature Heifer Bull.

Born at just 70 lbs with a CE18 and BW -1.4. He is a very stout, wide based BLB Hitch 23H son. Hitch sires progeny that are moderate in frame but as thick and deep as a power herd bull. BLB 330L Dam BLB Elite 20H is as perfect as they come. She is a Flad Element 21E daughter who is already leaving her mark with two top of the pen sons. The Hitch X Element mating has proven to work time after time. We would like to reserve the right to use 330L this spring for one cycle on a small group of heifers if the new owners breeding doesn’t overlap with ours. Homo polled. Heifer Approved.

BLB Lennox 326L is another BLB Hitch Sired bull. This time coming in packed with power. Boasting a WW ratio of 108 and a YW ratio of 112. He is so wide based and bold through his middle, yet not having a large frame. He is also loose made and free moving. His damn BLB Love Bug 106D is a big long spined cow that just gets it done. She also produced an ET Son BLB Lincoln 310L sired by Flad Element 21E. 106D has proven she can get it done no matter how we breed her. We showed him at Agribition, where he was Reserve Senior Bull Calf Champion. He was sold to Prairie Hills Gelbvieh in North Dakota out of the stall. He was admired by many and Lennox 326L is sure to be as well. We Would like to reserve the right to use 326L this spring for one cycle on a small group of cows if the new owners breeding doesn’t overlap with ours. Homo polled.

BLB Luke 313L is a dark red, thick haired bull packed full of muscle. This bull has been a standout since birth. He is another Hitch sired bull from an E.C Sired Dam BLB Maxine 1H. This mating worked so well that we did it again this year and his little brother looks just like him. Luke 313L will produce those scale busting steers that the commercial market is looking for. Homo polled.

BLB Lynx 316L is a massive middled, wide based tank of a bull. If it weren’t for his scurs, he would be a breeder bull easily. Not surprising he is also sired by BLB Hitch 23H. When you walk into the pen you can easily find the Hitch sons as they pattern so similar. BLB 316L Dam BLB Winnie 3H did an awesome job on this boy. The Winnie cow family has done well for Courtney.

BLB Lemans 331L had the highest weaning and highest yearling weight in the pen. He is an absolute tank of a bull. Yet another Hitch son from a powerful TTG 68F Dam. This bull will work really well at adding some frame to your herd as well as siring big dollar calves. Homo polled.

His Dam BLB 4A just keeps on producing breeder quality bulls year after year. That’s seven sons to date with five going into seedstock operations. And Laser deserves to be #6. With a birth weight of 75 and his EPD profile, he will work in the heifer pen. Oh yeah, he is also another Hitch son. Homo Polled. Heifer Approved.

Throw 309L into the heifer pen, but keep those daughters. They will be good. Terms:

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Bidding:

Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. In the case of a dispute, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in the dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Announcements:

All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee:

Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee:

In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration:

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais, Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh Associations.

A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Pedigree Estimates

Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

Health:

All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Liabilities:

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.

It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made here under.

Rights & Obligations:

The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
