Parent & Child classes are exempt from the height requirement. • Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate - 36 inches chin to toes • Nathan Hale High School - 38 inches chin to toes Participants must pass all skills to advance to the next level. Individuals must be toilet trained in order to enroll in all programs. No swim diapers allowed. Swim goggles recommended for Levels 3-8.

Class length will be 50 minutes, except Parent & Child, Level 1 (Little Beginners), and Semi-Private Swim Lessons which are 30 minutes. Please read swim levels carefully to assure your child is in the correct level. If you have any questions regarding swim level classification, contact Dan Steenrod at 414-604-4951. Water and air temperature is regulated by the District’s Facilities & Operations Department, not the WAWM RCS Department. They make every attempt to maintain a pool temperature of 82 degrees.

SAFETY FIRST - POOL REGULATIONS Per state code, all swimmers must thoroughly rinse off in the shower before entering the pool. Swim caps are required of all swimmers whose hair is long or controlled by hair spray or oil. Caps are sold at the pool for $2. Do not bring valuables to the pool. The WAWM RCS Department is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. Any swimmer who has entered Kindergarten must use their respective male/female locker room. Locker room attendants are available to assist. Strollers must be kept out of the pool area for child’s safety. Please carry child or use child carrying device. Per state law, use of cell phones and electronic devices are prohibited in locker rooms. Street shoes are not allowed in the pool area. Shoes must be removed. Clean sandals or slippers can be worn.

SWIM LEVEL CLASSIFICATIONS Our lessons are taught by American Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructors. Please read swim levels carefully to assure your child is in the correct level. The WAWM RCS Department reserves the right to move your child out of a level for their own safety.

>>>>> COVID-19 SWIMMING UPDATE <<<<< Due to COVID-19, we will be following recommendations from the CDC, Wisconsin DHS, and our local Health Department. Based on these recommendations, aquatic program formats have changed. Format changes include smaller class sizes, no instructor contact, no spectators on deck, and Level 3 and under requiring parent or guardian assistance in the water. Level 4 and up requires swimmers to operate independently in deep water. Please make sure your swimmer is comfortable to do this without assistance before enrolling.

FALL 2020

Dance Program

Recreation Center 5, 6, 7, 8... let’s dance! Dance is a great outlet for your child to not only express their creativity but also increase their strength, coordination, flexibility, endurance and physical fitness. Classes will focus on introducing the basics of each dance style and then building on those skills to further their journey in dance. Creative Movement classes are geared towards children that are 4-6 yrs old. This opportunity offers your child the chance to explore, improvise and express themselves through dance while developing their large and fine motor skills, coordination, rhythm and listening skills. Basic movements of dance will be introduced. Your child won’t skip a beat in this class! Due to COVID-19, we have adjusted the format of the WAWM RCS Department Dance Program. We have divided the Dance Program into two seasons, a Fall Season and a Winter/Spring Season. Each season will focus on developing the dancer’s skills in dance, character building and self-growth. At this time, a decision regarding a recital during the Winter/Spring Season has not been decided as COVID-19 is an ever changing landscape. More details for the Winter/Spring Dance season to follow in our upcoming Winter/Spring Activity Guide. No class 11/26, 11/28.
