ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT ACT Test Prep Preparation is the key to maximize your test score in order to maximize scholarships and attend the college of your choice. Each component of the test prep program focuses on the most essential skills students need, including the latest and most proven test-taking strategies and tips. Review each section of the test while learning tips, mastering strategies and reviewing the skills necessary to do well on each section. A test prep pre-test will be given the first night and then analyzed to show strengths and weaknesses. Bring a calculator and #2 pencil to class. Complete Harmony Yoga Series

ActivStars Self-Defense/Karate (Ages 4-16) Classes are designed for each age group with an emphasis placed on teaching personal safety and stranger awareness. Students learn discipline, respect and personal responsibility. Karate techniques are taught to be able to increase in belt rank. $9 per 45-minute session for beginners, payable at each class; $10 per 60-minute session for advanced, payable at each class. Please see ACTIVSTARS website or call 888.619.2131 for registration. $10 registration fee due to ActivStar at time of registration. ActivStars Cheer (Ages 4-16) Program promotes coordination, confidence, poise, physical fitness, artistic expression and competitive spirit. Students learn fundamentals of cheerleading, cheer routines, stunting, how to perform in front of audiences and preparation for tryouts for junior high or high school teams. $9 per week for a 45-minute session for ages 4-9 yrs., payable at each practice; $10 per week for a 60-minute session for ages 10 & up, payable at each practice. Complete Harmony is St. Louis' first trauma-informed youth yoga studio. Yoga classes with a trauma-informed approach encourages your child to be who they are and allows them to have control over what a class and session looks and feels like. Giving children permission to explore different postures and mindfulness activities encourages them to try new ways to self-regulate, problem-solve, work as a team, show self-confidence and self-expression, and learn new coping skills and body awareness. Advanced Calligraphy Enrich your knowledge beyond basic italic script by first learning numbers. Our first project will be addressing an envelope in script. Master this timeless skill in time for your next special occasion. Students will choose their next project from making personalized place cards to lettering a saying, or other projects. Fused Glass Plaid Plate The optical illusion of this plate makes it appear much harder to make than it really is. Basic Drawing Anyone can learn how to draw! Learn the basics of drawing and how to apply them to finding correct proportions, to the final shading to add form. Acrylic Painting for the Beginner Learn how to paint, even if you have never held a paintbrush. Start with a step-by-step landscape, move on to painting from photos and end up painting from life. Creativity Furniture and Cabinet Painting Transform your furniture with paint! Get hands-on instructions from a local master furniture painter. Bring in your own small piece of furniture or cabinet door to paint in class and get expertise guidance on how to change your piece from drab to fab. SCC Singers In this performance class, participants prepare choral music of various styles and genres culminating in a public performance at the end of the semester. Though expert sight reading is not required, some prior musical experience is necessary for success. All ages (16+) and voice parts (SATB) needed. Come sing with us! Course expectations include weekly and limited weekend rehearsal attendance and the ability to memorize music, match pitch and vocally blend with an ensemble.

Introduction to Voiceovers – One-on-One Video Session This fun and empowering 90-minute introductory workshop covers the different types of voiceovers and what tools are needed to find success. You’ll be coached as you read a script and be recorded so you can receive a professional voice evaluation later. Date and time scheduled at time of enrollment. NEW! Shibori Indigo Dyeing Shibori is a Japanese manual resist dyeing technique, which produces patterns on fabric. In this hands-on workshop, students will learn the basics of Shibori-inspired folding and binding techniques to create beautiful patterns with indigo dye on tea towels, shirts or other fabric items. Suzuki Music Education Suzuki is based on the concept that children can be taught to play an instrument in much the same way they learn to speak. These classes are available for all ages and are also offered for traditional violin and viola. Private lessons plus weekly group sessions. Payment plan available! Beginning Photography Get comfortable with how your camera works and get the best photographs possible. Learn camera functions, good composition and how to show your work in the most flattering way. Learn the intricacies behind aperture, shutter speed and ISO and how they can change the outcome of your photographs. Nature Photography Learn how to up your game in nature and scenic photography using the equipment you already own. You don't have to go to exotic locations to get great nature shots. Street Photography Street photography is a unique genre of photography. It doesn't depend on hours of planning, expensive gear or fashionable and trendy locations. It simply requires a camera and an eye for moments of perfect timing and situations. This class, which includes two field trips, will sharpen your awareness of life that is going on around you every day. Class will decide field trip times and dates. 10/3-10/24 Th S

Night Photography Just because the sun has set over the horizon doesn't mean that it's time to pack up your camera! Taking photographs at night is a much greater challenge than daytime, but if you've always wanted to try and get those fun images of fireworks, city skylines and carnivals then this class is for you. Class will cover how-to techniques including location and equipment selection, camera settings, painting with light and how to add just the right amount of flash. Class instruction and homework assignments will teach students how to enjoy this fun and challenging style of photography. WRITING How to Publish a Book With Kindle Direct Publishing from Amazon Do you have an idea for a great book or love to write? Self-publishing is easier than it's ever been thanks to Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing. This class will allow you to see how the process works to get your clever idea or story listed for sale on Amazon and printed on demand requiring no up-front publishing cost. Also includes an overview of Amazon Advertising to promote sales of your book. Students will receive a copy of the instructor's self-published book as an aid to understanding the process. Blogging in the 21st Century Discover the various facets of blogging in the 21st century. Learn to design appealing posts with images, audio and video. Events which may require more advanced notice to cancel include, but are not limited to, certain business and industry classes, conferences, trips, day trips and other special events. If you have a situation that warrants an override of the above policy, an explanation of the circumstances should be made in writing to the Division of Corporate and Community Development. The appropriate associate dean will review the situation to determine if a refund can be granted and will notify you accordingly. Refunds should be received within 30 days.

Inclement Weather Policy: In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergencies, the SCC president may cancel classes and close the campus for a partial or full day. The college will update the SCC website (stchas. edu) and main number 636-922-8000, send a text message through the Emergency Alert System, and contact selected radio and television stations, when the timing of conditions allow, by 5:30 a.m. for day classes and no later than 4 p.m. for evening classes (if bad weather develops during the day). The college will typically update the college website and main number prior to contacting the selected radio and television stations. It is recommended to use the college’s website or main number in order to receive information in a more timely manner. 38
