The launch of Scenic Eclipse, the World’s First Discovery Yachts, in 2019 established the new benchmark in ultra-luxury cruising. This has been further elevated with the arrival of Scenic Eclipse II in 2023.

From unique vision to inventive reality –building Scenic Eclipse II

By designing, managing the build and full fit out of our ships through Scenic Group’s subsidiary, MKM Yachts, at our shipyard in Rijeka, Croatia, we can swiftly transform our guest and crew feedback and into reality. With complete control of all new ship designs, building, crew and operations, our team also integrates industry best practice enhancements and new features to future-proof ship facilities and experiences.

We are proud to have James Griffiths (General Manager Ocean Operations), Jason Flesher (Director of Discovery Operations) and Tom Götter (Vice President Oceans Hotel Operations) deeply involved in the design of the Discovery Yachts. They have implemented the key learnings from operating Scenic Eclipse, making Scenic Eclipse II the most advanced and unique ultra-luxury ship in the world.

MKM Yachts support the entire ship design process: from basic design such as concept and preliminary design to the contract, and detailed design.

The Scenic Eclipse Journey

Setting the benchmark in ultra-luxury cruising

Scenic Eclipse, The World’s First Discovery Yacht launched in August 2019. Featuring 10 dining experiences, nine bars and lounges, spacious suites, an almost 1:1 crew to guest ratio.

The only ship with two helicopters, a submersible, state-of-theart technology and expansive 550sqm wellness spa, Scenic Eclipse becomes one of the most innovative ships of its time.

Scenic Eclipse christening, Dame Helen Mirren

Following her maiden voyage, Scenic Eclipse sails to New York City, to be christened by godmother Dame Helen Mirren.

“I was thrilled to be invited to take on the role of Scenic Eclipse godmother, even more so now that I have stepped aboard and seen the level of design detail and technology that has gone into her creation. She is an exceptional cruising experience, and I’m honoured to have christened her. I wish her crew and guests many years of sailing adventures and discovery,” Dame Mirren said.

Scenic Eclipse II christening, Dr Kathy Sullivan

Scenic Eclipse II is christened in Málaga, Spain. Godmother, Dr Kathy Sullivan has travelled into space three times as one of NASA’s first female astronauts and is the first American woman to complete a space walk.

Along with these incredible achievements, Dr Sullivan is also the first woman to explore Challenger Deep, the deepest part of Earth’s oceans, earning her the title of the “World’s Most Vertical Person”.

Next-generation submersible, Scenic Neptune II, launches

Scenic Neptune II, the submersible custom-designed with Triton Submarines arrives on board Scenic Eclipse II for her inaugural Oceania season.

Featuring 270-degree panoramic views and diving up to 100 metres below the surface, Scenic Neptune II has been designed to provide an immersive underwater experience that will give guests the feeling of seamlessly merging with the wonders of the ocean.

Scenic’s first ship arrives in Australian waters

Scenic Eclipse II arrives in Sydney and Newcastle for its inaugural season in the Oceania region. Over the next two years, the Discovery Yacht will journey across the East and West Coast of Australia, the Kimberley region, South Pacific, New Zealand, Asia, and East Antarctica.

Introducing Emerald Kaia

A new chapter in the Emerald Cruises journey begins with the introduction of our next-generation superyacht Emerald Kaia launching in early 2026. Our third innovative, luxury yacht builds on the spectacular success of the first two, and retains the ethos of luxury small-ship cruising.

Emerald Kaia’s guests will enjoy the luxury of even more generously-sized spaces, including the Aqua Pool, gym, Elements Spa and of course the stylishly appointed Suites. The Observation Sun Deck has more space to welcome sun worshippers, with the addition of a Spa Pool, sun beds and sun lounges.
