Changing the game @ Fort Monmouth

Dear Fellow Game Changer: I’m writing to share some exciting news with you. NJCU has long been a force for change in Jersey City and its surrounding communities—and now we’ve expanded so that people near the Jersey Shore can earn affordable bachelor’s and master’s degrees close to home. You may already know that we offer bachelor’s and master’s degree completion programs at Brookdale Community College. We’ve recently expanded our reach so that students can earn degrees onsite at Ocean County College, Mercer County Community College, and Middlesex Community College as well. And here’s the really big announcement: starting in Fall of 2021, we’ll be changing the game when we open NJCU at Fort Monmouth in the completely renovated Squier Hall. We’ve formed partnerships with numerous businesses to provide services, support and training. Since we’re close by, we have a number of ways we can support you and your business, too!

Degree Programs We offer academic programs that can help your employees—or you—get the in-depth knowledge and skills needed to advance in your field. Many of our programs can be completed online or have schedules to meet the needs of working professionals. We can even offer discount packages and/or programs onsite at your business for your employees!

Customized Training Attract and keep great employees and train them to help take your business to the next level. We can work on developing hard skills like strategic planning—or enhancing soft skills such as emotional intelligence. NJCU’s Professional Education and Lifelong Learning unit can work with you to tailor something just right for your company.

Our Work With a Financial Securities Firm in Jersey City NJCU professors participated in the firm’s Talent Acceleration Program, which the company established to provide their associates with personal and professional development. We gave workshops on topics such as innovation, conflict management, and more. This led to hosting specialized information sessions and on-site customized registration for our M.B.A. specializations.

Scholarships for Chamber of Commerce Members If you own or work for a company affiliated with the Jersey Shore Chamber of Commerce or New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and enroll in any NJCU School of Business graduate degree program, you will be eligible for a $3,000 scholarship.

A Dynamic Agent of Change At NJCU, we don’t just welcome collaboration and transformative change, we are the catalyst behind it.

At NJCU, we pride ourselves on not only being an institution of higher learning, but an institution dedicated to a higher purpose—the betterment of our students, our city, our communities, our state—and the world beyond. Our Students For students, NJCU is nothing short of transformative. We provide an affordable, diverse environment and an exceptionally supportive faculty, enabling students to thrive as scholars and graduate as thoughtful, high-achieving, worldly professionals—who then go on to be NJCU alumni game changers in their own right. U.S. News & World Report ranked NJCU as the best public school in New Jersey for ethnic diversity. Students learn firsthand from classmates in an intercultural exchange that prepares them to be critical thinkers in a global landscape.

NJCU is home of the Debt-Free Promise. As one of the most affordable public four-year colleges in the state, NJCU is committed to making college accessible. Recognized as one of the top public colleges improving students’ upward economic mobility, NJCU is a great return on investment. Ten years after graduation, students earn 22% more than the national average income. NJCU’s students graduate with the lowest rate of indebtedness of any other public college in New Jersey. Washington Monthly has ranked NJCU as one of the "Best Bang for the Buck" colleges in the Northeast for several years in a row.

Our Academics Our 50 undergraduate and 30 graduate degree programs include well-established disciplines, but NJCU is also an academic innovator. We're often among the first to introduce degrees in new and emerging fields like Business Analytics and Data Science, Cyber Security, Educational Technology and more.

Business Analytics and Data Science Cyber Security Many universities have data analytics degrees, but our Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs in Business Analytics and Data Science are unique because they are more about problemsolving than programming. We focus on showing students how to use data to glean insights that lead to practical business solutions in the real world. Though these programs are relatively new, we have graduates working at places like IBM, Verisk analytics, Bloomberg and Deloitte.

Our Security Studies department is one of a few in the country to have federal designations in both as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense and an Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence. We offer programs for students who range from entry level to the executive suite.

Financial Technology

Fire Science

Our School of Business launched a new Master of Science in Financial Technology program, the first of its kind in New Jersey, and one of only a handful in the U.S. to focus on this rapidly growing sector of the finance industry.

There’s only one place in New Jersey where you can earn a bachelor’s degree in this field, and that’s NJCU. But we’re well-known outside the state, too. We’re ranked #3 in the nation by study.com.

Our City, Our Communities, Our State NJCU is the educational anchor institution in Jersey City. Throughout its transformation into a new home for financial institutions, burgeoning industries, and waterfront development, we have partnered with the city to ensure the changes directly benefit our students and community members. We have game-changing initiatives in our nearby communities and the state in full swing, too. Whether creating a home for the arts, or providing professional development and continuing education for adults, we seek to improve the lives of everyone in the Garden State. Now that we’ve expanded to The Shore, we are looking for ways to act as a positive force in your community as well. We welcome your input on how we might partner together, but here are a few initiatives we’re already involved in:

Hudson Waterfront NJCU moved its School of Business to a 70,000-square-foot renovated building on Jersey City's Hudson Waterfront in 2015, supporting the awe-inspiring downtown transformation that led many to call the area “The Gold Coast.” Since we’ve established a presence there, we’ve partnered with nearby businesses such as JPMorgan, Provident Bank, and Wyndham Hotels.

University Place

Institute for Financial Literacy

We have been working with Jersey City to create University Place, a $400 million publicprivate partnership redevelopment project that will revitalize the city's West Side. In 2016, the West Campus Village Residence Hall opened there, doubling our capacity to house residential students. And, in 2018, RIVET opened. This building features modern market-rate apartments and 10,000 square feet of retail space.

NJCU's Institute for Financial Literacy empowers community members to pursue a lifetime of financial health by providing the tools and resources needed to make informed financial decisions. We provide teacher professional development workshops, partner with community nonprofits and faith-based organizations, incorporate personal finance curriculum into our lifelong learning programs, and act as a repository for financial literacy resources.

The Caroline and Frank Guarini Sr. Performing Arts Center

Support for Business

Expanding on its history as a performing arts hub in Jersey City, NJCU will soon open a performing arts center and cutting-edge academic complex that will be a premier arts destination bringing a wide variety of music, dance, and theatre to the area.

Businesses of all sizes can draw from our resources to gain a competitive edge. Whether needing services, support or training—or even interns, NJCU has been helping companies improve the bottom line for years.
