The exhibition includes a large wall map of Jersey City, on which visitors are invited to interact. Using the prompts, pins and materials provided, they are invited to “pin” their story and memories to the map.

The works exhibited have been chosen for their visual and illustrative qualities, and will challenge the viewer to redefine the influence which maps have in their lives. The twelve featured artists are Charlie Ahearn, Connie Brown, Jacob Ford, Keith Godard, Abby Goldstein, Jennifer Maravillas, David Nuttall, Adrienne Ottenberg, Kingsley Parker, Viviane Rombaldi Seppey, Jan Rothhuizen, and Robert Sikoryak.

but maps can also be used creatively to capture memories, explore personal histories and create narratives. The design of every map, whether printed or digital, is imbued with characteristics that tell us about a place, and even about the person who made the map. What is left off the map is just as important as what has been included.
