‘SHE’S AMAZING – WHAT A FIGHTER’

THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE ATTENDS HER FIRST PUBLIC EVENT SINCE ANNOUNCING HER PREGNANCY

H

er Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was credited for being ‘plucky’ and a ‘fighter’ last week as she made a spectacular return to work, despite still battling severe morning sickness. Since announcing her third pregnancy last month, Kate, 35, has been stuck at home suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum. However, although a royal aide has admitted she’s still suffering from the condition, Kate returned to the spotlight to host a Buckingham Palace reception to mark World Mental Health Day with her husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry. The glowing duchess, who is thought to be around 17 weeks pregnant, displayed the tiniest

Kate was last seen out on August 30, but has been forced to remove herself from the public eye for six weeks as she battles severe sickness. When announcing her pregnancy, a Kensington Palace statement confirmed: ‘As with her previous two pregnancies, the duchess is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum,’ adding that she was being cared for at the Palace. Last week a royal aide revealed that, although the duchess is still ill, her condition is improving. The aide added that Kate was determined

Below left and below right: The royal couple are expecting their third child She’s not completely out of the woods with hyperemesis gravidarum but this was really important to her.’ William has credited his wife with much of the success of the campaign, which she, William and Harry spearheaded to dispel the stigma surrounding mental health. Earlier in the day, William and Harry hosted a reception at St James’s Palace, but Kate was only well enough to attend the evening event. At the daytime reception, William said: ‘It was Catherine who first realised that all three of us were working on mental health in our individual areas of focus. She had seen that, at the core of adult issues such as addiction and family breakdown, unresolved childhood mental health issues were often part of the problem.’ He continued: We decided to assemble a coalition of charities to campaign together to change the national conversation on mental health. Up and down the country, in schools and workplaces, in towns, cities and villages, among men and women, between young and old – the UK was finally talking about mental health.’ He added that he, Kate and Harry were proud to have played their part in trying to end the stigma attached to mental health, with Harry saying: ‘We are incredibly grateful to all of you for your contribution to Heads Together.’ Kate’s sickness meant that Kensington Palace had to announce her pregnancy much earlier than they had planned to. It also meant that she missed HRH Prince George’s first day at school. ‘The fact 10

lassical singer Camilla Kerslake certainly hit the right note with her show-stopping dress as she celebrated her engagement to England rugby star Chris Robshaw last week. The couple partied with family and close friends at private London club Ten Trinity Square, with Camilla – who has sung for the royal family – ensuring she was the centre of attention in her daring semi-sheer dress. The João Rôlo Couture gown featured strategically placed floral embellishments and a rose gold belt, which accentuated her trim waist. Chris, 31, looked dapper in a bottle green velvet jacket and an emerald tie. ‘Pulled James Bond last night,’ joked Camilla, 29, in the caption of a photo of herself and her fiancé posing in the club bar.

Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were on hand to share a glass of bubbly or two with the happy couple, with Piers tweeting: ‘Now THAT was a party,’ adding that it was a ‘wonderful evening’. Comedian Jack Whitehall was also among the guests, along with Chris’s rugby pals James Horwill, Will Collier and Nick Evans. After dating for six years, Camilla and Chris confirmed their engagement in July at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships when she wore her impressive sixcarat diamond ring in public for the first time. However, Camilla was recently separated from the precious sparkler after it got stuck on her friend’s finger and had to be sawn off in A&E! The ring spent a month in a jewellery repair shop before Camilla was reunited with it. OK!

MILEY CYRUS AND HER FIANCE LIAM HEMSWORTH MAKE A RARE RED CARPET APPEARANCE IN LOS ANGELES co-dependency. I think people that break up and get back together, that’s awesome.’ The Wrecking Ball singer added: ‘You get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up. If you’re growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being.’ The couple live together in Liam’s Malibu mansion and, after living in the ‘concrete jungle’ of LA, Miley says she loves being with nature again since moving in with Liam earlier this year. She adds: ‘Finding that space, being with nature again, having trees, clear skies and sun, has helped. I couldn’t find that in LA. I have this freedom — not only in my relationship but because I don’t feel so trapped in Malibu.’ The singer is also reportedly renovating a £4.4 million fivebedroom Nashville home she has bought to be closer to her family. And despite confirming their engagement, Miley has dismissed all speculation that she and her Australian fiancé are planning to elope to Las Vegas, saying: ‘It’s crazy. Every day someone knows something about my life that I don’t!’ OK!

fter rekindling their romance, Miley Cyrus and fiancé Liam Hemsworth looked very happy together as they attended the Los Angeles premiere of Thor: Ragnarok at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, which stars Liam’s older brother Chris Hemsworth. Miley opted for a ’70s-inspired highnecked Moschino dress. The 24 year old accessorised the vibrant floral number with a chic chignon-style hairdo, adorned with jewelled hair clips, and a pair of black heels. Liam, 27, looked equally eyecatching in his classic black suit. The pair, who met in 2009 on the movie set of The Last Song, originally announced their engagement in June 2012 but split a year later. After nearly three years apart, they rekindled their engagement in 2016. Recently revealing the reason behind their break-up, Miley – who is a coach on the US version of The Voice, and the first with an all-female team – said: ‘I had to [end it]. ella Hadid made it a triple whammy as she celebrated her 21st birthday last week with three parties. First up was a girlie brunch, which Bella attended in a white dress by Australian brand Daisy and zip-up white boots. Next came a family meal with her parents Yolanda and Mohamed and sister Gigi, 22, at New York restaurant Sadelle’s. Bella and Gigi appeared effortlessly elegant as they sashayed out of the restaurant after the meal. While Bella looked lovely in a lace-up black dress, Gigi also pulled out all the stops in a powder blue, semi sheer corset and high-waisted trousers by Pamella Roland. Later that night, Bella headed to a party thrown for her by rapper Drake at the Big Apple’s

Socialista Lounge. Showing off her toned tummy in a silk top, oversized jeans and Alexander Wang slingbacks, Bella – who has been friends with Drake for years – partied at the extravagant bash with 30 friends. Meanwhile, in a sweet Instagram birthday tribute, Gigi shared a selection of throwback photos, including one of her as a youngster giving a bottle of milk to her baby sister (below right). Describing Bella as ‘loving, kind, driven, perseverant and forever cool’, Gigi wrote: ‘I LOVE U MY LIL SISSYPOP [sic].’ And on the eve of Bella’s special day, Gigi had posted a photo of her meeting her sister for the first time (bottom right). e’s a prince and she’s the princess of pop, so it’s no surprise HRH Prince Harry looked delighted to bump into his old friend Kylie Minogue at a star-studded ceremony in London last week. Looking smart in his black dinner jacket and matching bow tie, a grinning Harry, 33, leaned in towards the singer, 49, as he placed an arm casually around her shoulders. Sharing a photo of the moment on Instagram (facing page, left), Kylie captioned it: ‘The Prince and the Showgirl!’ The chart-topper – who was wearing a dazzling Halpern mini dress – had earlier received the Legend Award at the Virgin Holidays Attitude Awards 2017, powered by Jaguar, which was hosted by Olympic diver Tom Daley. Harry was there to collect a posthumous award on behalf of his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales, who campaigned to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. His appearance made him the first member of the royal family to pick up an honour at a gay awards ceremony.

It’s not the first time Harry has shown his affection for Spinning Around singer Kylie. In 2015 he was pictured planting a kiss on her cheek at the Royal Variety Performance. OK! was lucky enough to attend the bash with our friends from Disney, sitting with McFly’s Harry Judd and Tom Fletcher. Tom brought along his gorgeous wife Giovanna and couldn’t contain his excitement when Prince Harry appeared on stage! Harry – who was without his girlfriend Meghan Markle, who is based in Toronto – charmingly told the audience: ‘Don’t we all look lovely? Can I stay?’ before launching into a touching speech about his mother’s pioneering work. Referring to the pivotal moment when she shook the hand of a 32-year-old man with HIV in front of photographers, he said: ‘She knew exactly what she was doing. She was using her position as Princess of Wales – the most famous woman in the world – to challenge everyone to educate themselves, to find their compassion, and to reach out to those who need help instead of pushing them away.’ He added that his mother – who will feature on one of six limited-edition covers of Attitude

magazine – would have continued the fight against HIV/AIDS if she were still alive today, concluding by saying: ‘[Prince] William and I are incredibly proud of what our mother achieved and we thank you for awarding her the Legacy Award.’ Other stars bringing some glamour to the Roundhouse in London included Amanda Holden, who was thrilled with her Honorary Gay Award. After a saucy acceptance speech, she wrote on Instagram: ‘#utterlydelighted better than a #bafta for me.’ The 46 year old didn’t disappoint when it came to her outfit, looking incredible in a slashed Julien Macdonald dress. Also flashing a little flesh were Myleene Klass – in a lace LBD from her own Littlewoods range – and former X Factor winner Louisa Johnson, who wore a plunging tangerine gown. Meanwhile Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall opted for a shimmering suit, while Pixie Lott – on the arm of her fiancé Oliver Cheshire – donned a DSquared dress. KIT HARINGTON AND ROSE LESLIE TRY TO GO INCOGNITO AS THEY STEP OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE ANNOUNCEMENT

By the look of Rose’s huge diamond engagement ring, Kit didn’t spare any expense ast week Game Of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie were spotted out for the first time since announcing their happy engagement news. And judging by Rose’s huge diamond ring, Kit didn’t spare any expense when choosing the bling for his wife-to-be. The couple, both 30, who met as on-screen lovers on the fantasy drama in 2012, were out shopping in London looking very inconspicuous in their casual wear. The Scottish actress, who played Ygritte in the show, wore a cosy knitted cardigan and a trilby hat as she held hands with her fiancé, who stars as Jon Snow. However, Kit revealed on The Jonathan Ross Show last week that his proposal didn’t quite go as he planned. He said: ‘I was going to string up some lights and do all the romantic stuff but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early.’ Clarifying what he meant, Kit added: ‘What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early!’ He also insisted that he and Rose won’t be having a Game Of Thronesstyle wedding. ‘There is absolutely no chance of me convincing her of that,’ he said. But Kit’s bosses on the hit HBO show have kindly agreed to pause production of the final series so the cast and crew can attend the big day. OK!

Daisy Lowe has been accused of leading Louise astray

fter months of frenzied speculation, Louise Redknapp has finally confirmed that she and husband Jamie are living apart, while revealing that she felt like a ‘Stepford wife’ during their marriage. In a candid interview, the former Strictly Come Dancing star said she needed time apart from Jamie, her husband of 19 years, to re-evaluate their relationship. The mum of two, who shares sons Charley, 13, and Beau, eight, with football pundit Jamie, described how she’d always put her family before herself, saying: ‘I have spent most of my life pleasing everyone else, worrying about being judged and thinking I should always do the right thing by staying at home, looking after my kids and my husband. I lost myself. I became a sort of Stepford wife.’ The former Eternal singer added that taking part in last year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing reignited her passion for performing. ‘It was only when I agreed to do Strictly that I realised I couldn’t just go back to [motherhood],’ she added. ‘That was when the s**t hit the fan.’ The 42 year old – who also revealed Jamie, 44, encouraged Above: Strictly made them to try for a Louise realise how third baby after she’d much she missed finished her stint on working. man and we’ve had a good 20 years together. I know he’s trying to understand that I need to do this. I have no idea what is going to happen. All I know is… this is something I need to do – for me.’ Louise is currently starring as Sally Bowles in the West End production of Cabaret and moved out of the family home after being given the role. The revealing costumes required for the part are no longer daunting for the star after she experienced an ‘epiphany’ in her Strictly dressing room last year. While her co-star and close friend Daisy Lowe, 28, has been accused of leading Louise astray, Louise maintains that Daisy simply helped restore her body confidence. Recalling the moment when Daisy walked into her dressing room to see her wearing a conservative costume, she describes how Daisy said: ‘Oh my God, look at your gorgeous body. You have to wear a sexy dress.’ Louise added: ‘She kept on at me to wear something sexy and by week three, I was in a leotard and tights and not feeling selfconscious at all.’ Speaking about Louise last week, Daisy said: ‘It was good to see her come alive while on Strictly.’ According to insiders, Jamie, who was spotted without his wedding ring while playing golf last week, isn’t planning to watch Louise perform in Cabaret as he thinks it would be ‘too awkward’. DRIFTED APART

espite admitting they were ‘kind of’ engaged in July, Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs (right) are thought to have called time on their relationship after drifting apart. The notoriously private couple began dating in September 2014 and got engaged just seven months later, although they never explicitly confirmed reports that they were set to wed. But Robert, 31, who found fame on the Twilight films, is said to have ended his relationship with the singer. A source confirmed: ‘In recent months they have started to drift apart and have been spending less time together. Rob is tired of it, has called off their engagement and told friends they have split.’ They added: ‘Things have become tough between them for some time and they both knew they were no longer working as a couple.’ The pair have not been pictured together since May and recently FKA Twigs, real name Tahliah Barnett, has been spotted without her engagement ring. Formula 1 heiress Petra, 28, and her estranged husband were officially granted a decree nisi during a five-minute court hearing, avoiding what would have been one of the biggest, most expensive divorce battles in British legal history. After the hearing, James, 35, said: ‘I am devastated that my marriage has broken down. I love Petra and our children.’ While neither Petra nor James, who were married for five years, were in court last week, a representative for James said he wanted to stay ‘firm friends’ with Petra. While on stage at the BMI Awards, he thanked his ‘wife’, revealing that after ten years and two daughters, Carla, two, and five-month-old Tallulah, the pair had finally made things official. Glamorous Maria supported her man on the evening. An insider at the awards revealed, ‘Jay Kay did a shout out to his wife and two daughters when he was on the stage collecting his award. The audience seemed a bit surprised

as he wasn’t wearing a wedding ring and I don’t think anyone even knew he was off the market.’ Back in April the singer referred to Maria (above) as his ‘missus’ in an interview, suggesting they may have been married for some time. ‘I am totally serious about my missus and kids,’ he said. ‘I am the dad for my girls. Kate said: ‘After declining alcohol and announcing that I had school in the morning I left, uneasy but unscathed.’ Myleene Klass (below left), 39, claimed that Weinstein offered her a ‘sex contract’ at a business meeting at the Cannes Film Festival. The presenter said: ‘I just thought, oh my God, your poor wife. I don’t want to be a marriagewrecker.’ Gwyneth Paltrow (top left), 45, spoke of rebuffing his sexual advances in the mid-’90s: ‘I was petrified… I thought he was going to fire me. He screamed at me for a long time. It was brutal,’ she said, adding that she was expected to ‘keep the secret’. Mum-of-six Angelina Jolie (above), 42, said: ‘I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did.’ Meanwhile model Cara (above far left), 25, has shared on Instagram an allegation that Weinstein tried to get her to have a threesome with another woman. EMMA THOMPSON (above right), who starred in the 1996 movie Emma, which was

distributed by Weinstein’s company Miramax, said of the producer – who admitted: ‘I’ve got to get help,’ and checked himself into rehab for sex addiction: ‘I don’t think you can describe him as a sex addict, he’s a predator. That’s different. He’s at the top of, as it were the ladder of, a system of harassment and belittlement and bullying and interference.’ Others who have condemned his actions include ‘disgusted’ BARACK OBAMA (bottom left), whose daughter Malia interned with The Weinstein Company. Harvey’s wife, designer

GEORGINA CHAPMAN (above left), 41, with whom he has two children, has left him, citing his ‘unforgivable actions’. Weinstein has also been fired from The Weinstein Company, the hugely successful film company he co-founded, and Bafta have suspended his membership saying his behaviour is ‘completely unacceptable and incompatible with Bafta’s values’. Mr Weinstein’s spokesperson issued a statement saying: ‘Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied.’

MEL B TAKES TO THE SEA

he may be in the middle of a difficult divorce from estranged husband STEPHEN BELAFONTE, but MEL B (right) appeared not to have a care in the world as she enjoyed a sun-soaked family holiday in Hawaii last week. The former Spice Girl, 42, was joined on board a luxury yacht by her mum Andrea and daughters Phoenix, 18, Angel, ten, and sixyear-old Madison. Sharing a series of photos and videos from their idyllic-looking trip, Mel gushed that it was the ‘best vacation ever’, adding: ‘#FamilyIsEverything.’ One picture showed Mel and her lookalike teenage daughter Phoenix posing with their arms aloft on the boat’s deck (above left), while another saw her being given a hug by Madison (left) while lapping up the glorious sunshine. Mel also shared a photo (below) and commented: ‘I haven’t had a family vacation in 10 years and this truly is a dream come true, 3 days of paradise full of adventure yippee [sic].’

Meanwhile, they may have recently revealed that they are set to add to their brood with the help of a surrogate, who is carrying their third child. But it appears that Kim and husband KANYE WEST, 40, have their hands full with the children they already have, revealing that daughter North, four, was still jealous of oneyear-old son Saint (below). Kim said: ‘Obviously North loves Saint, she just is still jealous. She needs to get it together and warm up and be a little bit nicer, but I think she is getting there.’ She added that, though North isn’t exactly a fan of Saint, she would never dream of hurting him. ‘She’s not hurting him or anything. She just doesn’t want boys in her room!’ WWW.OK.CO.UK 37

PROUDLY INTRODUCING THEIR NEWBORN SON GUNNER

‘WE’RE SO FULL OF LOVE AND JOY – HE’S THE CUTEST THING’ HEIDI AND SPENCER PRATT EXCLUSIVELY TELL OK!’S LISA MARKS ABOUT THEIR CRYSTAL-FILLED DELIVERY ROOM HOW HE HASN’T CHANGED A NAPPY YET AND HER PLANS FOR SEVEN MORE CHILDREN

W

hen OK! catches up with Heidi and Spencer Pratt, the besotted parents only have eyes for their newborn son, Gunner Stone. Heidi, 31, has just woken from a nap and is breastfeeding little Gunner, while Spencer, 34, is trying to handle their four dogs – two Pomeranians and two Maltipoos, one of whom, Rainbow, is after his cheese puffs snack. ‘Here’s my top tip’, he laughs. ‘Don’t get four dogs before you have a baby!’ The larger-than-life pair shot to fame after meeting on the reality TV show The Hills back in 2007. They went on to gain legions of new British fans after being voted runners-up to winner Rylan Clark-Neal on Celebrity Big Brother in 2013. And while they’re familiar with a busy house, they’re still getting used to having a baby under their roof, after he arrived 18 days early. Heidi started dilating at 35 weeks and, two weeks later, after a five-hour labour, Gunner decided it was time to meet his parents. ‘I did the best I could but he was ready to come out!’ beams the new mum, who gave birth to 6lb 12oz Gunner on Sunday October 1. Spencer has called Heidi ‘the most special angel I have ever come across’ and, after watching her go through labour with no pain relief, he says proudly: ‘I have so much respect for her and all women who give birth.’ While the couple have been together ten years, it was only at the beginning of this year they decided to start a family. Gunner was conceived just after the pair appeared on Celebrity Big Brother: All Stars vs New Stars in January, while they were staying at the Savoy Hotel in London. It took them less than a week to get pregnant and Heidi is already planning to have more, while Spencer, whose sister is Made In Chelsea star Stephanie Pratt, says: ‘That’s the scariest thing I’ve heard in my whole life!’ However, as befitting of the son of two reality TV stars, Spencer’s already managing his son’s new Instagram account – so far the baby has 28,000 followers and counting. Although Spencer says in jest: ‘I’m not a good father, it’s been almost 24 hours and he’s still not verified yet.’ Here, the couple – who are known to millions as Speidi – tell OK! about their mad hospital

40

dash, why Spencer filled the delivery room with crystals and the reason it took them ten years to start a family… Congratulations to you both! Heidi, how are you feeling now you’ve gone from bump to baby? I’m such a proud mother. I cry every day, I love him so much. I thought I would miss my bump, and I do, but I just love my baby so much more.

to come that early so I went on semi-bed rest for almost two weeks. But when I went back to my normal routine, my waters broke and that was it. I tried to keep him as long as I could but I could only do so much!

Did you panic when your waters broke? Heidi: I woke up and said: ‘Honey, I think my waters broke,’ and he said: ‘You think or you know?’ Erm, I think I know if my waters broke! Spencer: I thought, it’s definitely not October 19, I know that. Heidi and I are Heidi with her go-go-go people, so it makes sense newborn son, our kid didn’t want two more weeks in adorable Gunner there. He was ready! Stone Pratt Heidi: I was booked to do a photoshoot that day so I cancelled it. I said: ‘Spencer, hurry up we’ve got to get to the hospital,’ and he says: ‘Wait, I’ve got to feed one of my hummingbirds.’ I’m like: ‘We’ve got to get going!’ Luckily we got to the hospital on time because after I checked in my contractions started hitting. Heidi, you had no pain relief during your labour, what was your plan ahead of giving birth? I was actually Googling birthing techniques in the delivery room! Like, shoot, I don’t know how to do this! I had some gas and air but it didn’t help an awful lot. I was just trying to breathe deep. In that moment it was so intense, I couldn’t have done specific breathing techniques. What was Spencer doing? He was like an air traffic controller, it was chaotic. There were crystals being rushed in and our own personal camera crew were there too, one videographer and one photographer, and he was trying to co-ordinate everyone. Later my mum arrived from Colorado. Then Spencer left the room so my make-up artist Stella stepped in. At that time I needed someone to concentrate on me and not everything else and Stella did that. It was a circus.

It’s been a great adjustment, so full of love and joy and honestly he’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Gunner arrived early. What happened? He was early by 18 days. I always had a feeling he would be. I was supposed to go to Colorado at 35 weeks to see my mum Darlene, so we saw my doctor for a regular check-up. He told me that I had dilated 1cm already. I didn’t want him

Spencer, why did you leave? I’ve never seen Heidi in so much pain before. I’ve seen her in pain but not like that. It was totally different. I left the hospital to get gluten-free bagels, a breakfast burrito and an omelette. I couldn’t figure out what to order so I got three breakfasts. I was definitely losing the plot and then it hit me like, it’s really happening. By the time I got back, things had sped up.

Heidi says she’s most surprised at how obsessed Spencer is with their son WWW.OK.CO.UK 41

So Spencer was there for the baby’s birth? Heidi: When the time came to push, Spencer became my coach. He was incredible. I couldn’t have got through the birth without him. He was telling me things like: ‘This is what you’ve been waiting for, get Gunner out, he’s almost here, you can do it!’ I really needed that.

Above: The proud dad was a little overwhelmed during his son’s birth, and popped out for breakfast! Above right: A shot from the couple’s personal collection shows Spencer helping Heidi during labour. Below: The happy family

Why no pain relief? Heidi: It came down to the desire to do it naturally. I’ve heard there can be complications with back problems and I already have lower back problems and didn’t want to risk more. Also an epidural slows down the labour and I didn’t want that either. Spencer: I was so proud of her, giving birth with no drugs. I already knew she was a magical superwoman but now I know she can really step up. Are you proud that you got through on only gas and air, Heidi? Yes, because I probably would’ve had to have a C-section as the epidural slows down labour. The cord was wrapped around Gunner’s neck and it was somehow pulling him back up. If I didn’t push him out exactly when I did, it would have been problematic. It was a blessing how it all worked out. Were you aware the cord was wrapped around Gunner’s neck? Heidi: I found out afterwards, but I saw a look on my doctor’s face that told me something was wrong. It was serious. I was like: ‘I will die right here or do whatever I need to do to get him out.’ I thought I was going to pass out but it took all my strength to get him out right there and then, which I did. Spencer: It was an out-of-body experience. It was intense. I was way past my regular couch and Netflix level that I reside in. What was it like holding Gunner for the first time? Heidi: I was so thrilled and exhausted at the same time. When they pulled him out I looked at Spencer and said: ‘I can do that again!’ He was: ‘Oh no, crazy lady.’ I want it to be Speidi plus eight – ten of us. Spencer, how did you feel? They took him immediately under a heat lamp to weigh him. I went under the lamp with him and did

a Snapchat to Enya’s Only Time because it’s the most magical song. That was our first moment together. When I saw he was alert and healthy it was such a relief. Heidi, how’s the breastfeeding going? It challenging but it’s such intimate bonding time. I see a side of him I wouldn’t see otherwise. I’m really enjoying it and will do it for as long as I can. Spencer, have you changed a nappy yet? No, because I wouldn’t want to take that fun away from Heidi. You would think it was the present under the Christmas tree. She even loves the smell. I gag and she loves it, so why would I take that away from her? Heidi: I don’t want him to because I love changing diapers. That’s my job! Spencer, did you cut the cord? Heidi: Spencer wanted nothing to do with that. He was traumatised enough by the whole process! Spencer: I was already so scarred from looking at everything! I’ve seen childbirth on TV but until you’ve been there, you have no idea. Did the £20,000 worth of crystals you had in the delivery room help? Heidi: The doctors and nurses said they felt the calming energy in the room, so I think they probably did. Spencer: I love crystals, they’ve got great energy but the root of my love is they look really cool, 44

and it puts out positive energy vibes. If I was coming out of the womb to a new world and saw these big sparkling things I would think, woah, this is a cool planet. But it was a lot of stress because I thought I had a couple more weeks to prepare. When Heidi’s waters broke I started carrying the big ones from my house to the car but we had to go, so I called my friends at Crystalarium. They raced over to the hospital with more crystals and so we were bringing them up from the valet, pushing them along in the hospital wheelchairs because they were so big. It was insane. Heidi, did you get glammed up for the birth? I had my hair blow dried the day before because I was supposed to be doing a shoot. Stella was doing my make-up during my contractions. She said: ‘Do you want to take a break?’ I said: ‘No, they’re getting stronger,’ so she went as fast as she could! I figured if we’re having a camera crew here I’m going to be camera-ready.

What’s been the most surprising thing so far about having Gunner? Heidi: How obsessed my husband is with our son. He loves him and I’m not surprised at all, but you never know how anyone is going to react. It’s such a blessing how much he’s obsessed with Gunner. We debate about who gets to hold him. Spencer: I didn’t know newborns made all those cute little noises, that’s been the most magical part – all the sounds they make when they’re sleeping. You waited a long time to have Gunner, was that out of choice? Heidi: We got pregnant the first week we started trying, but it took me a long time to convince Spencer to start a family. Once we started trying it was a miracle conception in the first few days. Spencer: He was conceived in London at the Savoy. I wish he’d been born in Britain so he could have a dual passport. Who does Gunner look like? Heidi: He has my eye shape and personality – he’s so mellow – but he looks a lot like Spencer.

‘I KNEW SHE WAS A MAGICAL SUPERWOMAN BUT NOW I KNOW SHE CAN REALLY STEP UP’

How are you feeling physically, Heidi? I’m sore and really tired but I’m healthy and able to walk around. Overall I’m feeling great. But it’s hard to sleep because I don’t want to miss a moment with him! How do you feel about your body now it’s your own again? It’s a big transition from having a baby inside of you to it being your own body again. I’ll start working out again when the time is right, but now I want to focus on getting stronger. I’d like to get back to my before shape but that’s not what I’m concentrating on. I want to be nurturing and not critical towards myself. Where did Gunner’s name come from? Heidi: Gunner was always on my baby name list – we both agreed upon it. Stone was also an option for a first name but we decided to make it a middle name. Spencer: I had a lot of flashy crystal names such as Malachite but she wasn’t feeling them. Have you heard from any of your Hills co-stars, including Lauren Conrad? No, we’re definitely not planning on hearing from Lauren, but I heard from Audrina [Patridge] today, saying how cute and amazing Gunner looks, and I also heard from Kristin [Cavallari], who said congratulations. Have you heard from anyone from CBB? We heard from Rylan and also Jedward, as well as James Jordan and Nicola McLean. Spencer, your sister Stephanie says on Instagram she can’t wait to meet her nephew. When is she arriving? Heidi: She’s coming next week. She’s already a professional aunt – she has two nieces and a nephew – so she’ll be great. Spencer: She’s already Facetimed me four times today to look at the baby. She’s invested. I’ve seen her with our other sister, Kristin, and her kids so she’s going to be chill. We’ll get to meet her new boyfriend Jonny [Mitchell] as he’s coming with her.

Above: Heidi says she thinks Gunner has her personality but looks more like Spencer (above right)

How happy are you both right now? Heidi: So happy. It’s perfect. I love him so much. I love his smell, I just want to inhale his head. Spencer: It feels like life’s purpose. It’s so much fun holding your own baby. You see people with theirs and Heidi always thought they were cute but I didn’t take much notice. Until you have your own you can’t comprehend how amazing it is. OK! INTERVIEW BY LISA MARKS PHOTOGRAPHS BY MORGAN OLIVER-ALLEN/ALBERT BENJAMIN ADDITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS BY BACKGRID UK, INSTAGRAM

WHO’S GOT ‘THE X FACTOR’?

IT’S TIME TO FACE THE MUSIC AS THE HOPEFULS HEAD OFF TO JUDGES’ HOUSES TO BATTLE IT OUT FOR A PLACE IN THE LIVE SHOWS his year’s X Factor is hotting up and Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne have some tough decisions to make ahead of the live shows. However, this year, Cheryl Tweedy, Stormzy, Mika and Jack and Kelly Osbourne will be on hand to offer some words of advice at the Judges’ Houses, as they whittle down their groups to just three contestants, with the public picking a further wildcard in each category…

ouis is hoping he’ll have the luck of the Irish while mentoring the boys this year, ably assisted by BRIT Award-winning singer/ songwriter Mika in sunny Istanbul. Those hoping to sing their way to the live shows include 27-year-old barman Aidan Martin, who says he has a John Legend/Sam Smith vibe to his voice. Jack Mason, an 18-year-old busker from Aldershot, rates Grace Davies as his biggest competition, while Leon Mallet, 22, from Norwich hopes that his ‘urban edge’ and rapping will ensure he stands out from the other boys in the category. Valleys boy Lloyd Macey, 23, impressed from the start, not only with his musical theatre style but by bringing his grandmother Christine along to his first audition, who shared her fish finger sandwiches with Simon! ‘Hot plasterer’ Sam Black, 27, from the Isle Of Man, meanwhile, shocked the judges when he proposed to his girlfriend Emma live at the auditions. The line-up of boys is completed by American Spencer Sutherland, 25. Despite him already being a YouTube star, Spencer still has to wow Louis and Mika to earn his place in the live shows.

t’s a family reunion for Sharon Osbourne as she’s joined at her San Francisco Judge’s House by son Jack and daughter Kelly, to help choose from this year’s girls. Alisah Bonaobra, 22, had to take part in a sing-off to earn her seat in the Six-Chair Challenge, so she’s hoping her passage through to the live shows will be a little smoother. No doubt Deanna Mussington, 22, feels the pressure as her neighbours on the Caribbean island of Anguilla helped her to raise the funds needed to fly to London for her first audition. Sharon had her eye on 20-year-old mum Georgina Panton from Birmingham ever since her first audition, when she described her as an ‘untrained racehorse’. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Grace Davies may have already sung with Olly Murs, but she still has to impress the Osbourne brood. Holly Tandy may only be 16 but she’s fiercely ambitious, with Simon saying she ‘defines determination’. Completing the line-up is student Rai-Elle Williams, also 16, from Croydon who began singing at church and is hoping the X Factor is her ticket to much bigger stages.

ld judging rivals Cheryl Tweedy and Simon Cowell are teaming up in the south of France to ensure they give the groups the best possible chance of victory this year. Best friends and Oxford graduates Jack and Joel, both 22 and from London, won the judges over at their first audition with their ‘geeky’ Ed Sheeran mash-up. Meanwhile, five-piece girl group Lemonade are hoping their harmonies will ensure they stand out from the competition. Quartet Rak-Su sailed through their first audition with original song I’m Feeling You while Irish brothers Sean and Conor Price, 17 and 15 respectively, have a dream that The X Factor will help them become Ireland’s next big thing. It’s also a family affair for sibling trio The Cutkelvins, from Scotland, with singer Shereen, 20 – joined by brothers Jay, 24, and Kyle, 23 – already having experience in the spotlight as a member of girl group Neon Jungle. never going to be the same again. The baby currently feels like it wants to come out. It feels like it’s engaging! Is your hospital bag packed? I still need to finish packing mine but the baby’s bag is done – I just need to finish washing some of its clothes. But my mum said she’ll come round and do that because I hate washing clothes. It’s such a chore! It’s the only housework job I don’t like doing!

Ferne with her former boyfriend and father of her child, Arthur Collins I look at the situation I’m in, but I just have to focus on the positives.’ She adds: ‘I wouldn’t have been able to do this without my mum.’ There has been a lot said about Ferne – who has bagged her own ITVBe show, Ferne McCann: First Time Mum, set to air later this year – during this time, but she says: ‘If I were to actually clear things up that have been reported, I’d be here all day. That has been the hardest thing to deal with throughout this pregnancy.’ Here, Ferne, 27, exclusively tells OK! about her calming hypnobirthing sessions, raising her baby alone and why she’s so thankful her mum Gill is her birthing partner… You’re due in a few weeks, Ferne. How are you feeling? I’m really excited, but as the day draws nearer I’m starting to become more nervous because it’s all sinking in. It’s real, I’m having a baby! Did we spy a Louis Vuitton suitcase in your bedroom? Yes, but I didn’t buy that specifically for the hospital. I treated myself as I’m always doing little trips with work and This Morning and I wanted a nice carry-on case anyway, so I may as well use it as my hospital bag! How do you think you’ll feel seeing your baby for the first time? That’s the golden moment, isn’t it? When the baby comes out and you have the skin-toskin contact and it opens its eyes and looks at you for the first time. I will be so emotional. Everyone says you’ve never felt that gush of love before. I hope I feel it instantly. How are you feeling about not having the father of your child at the birth? I don’t think about that now because my mum is my birthing partner. I don’t dwell on how different it could have been. Obviously there are moments when that does cross my mind, but I’m just focusing on the positives. In life you’re dealt the hand that you’re dealt, and you actually really surprise yourself with how much you can cope with. How does your mum feel about everything? She’s really excited. I’m so lucky and blessed to have her as my birthing partner. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without her.

FERNE WEARS DRESS BY ASOS; AND EARRINGS BY BEACH CITY

hen OK! arrives at the Brentwood home of Ferne McCann, the pregnant star gives us the warmest welcome. Despite being due to give birth in five weeks at the time of our chat, the This Morning presenter is busy offering cups of tea and snacks to the team before returning to her glamorous dressing room to have the finishing touches applied to her make-up. The former TOWIE star’s new home looks all set to welcome her new arrival next month, from the crib in her bedroom to the high chair at the end of her dining table and the bath seat in her tub. There are also hypnobirthing notes everywhere you look. Ferne, who moved out of her mum Gill’s house and into the twobedroom flat in June, has dotted the mantras around her kitchen, dressing room and living room, and one reads: ‘I listen to my body and go with the flow.’ Along with the candles, faux fur blankets, crystals and pictures of her with friends including Vicky Pattison and Billie Faiers, it’s clear that Ferne – who is due to give birth in mid-November – has created a cosy escape for her and her bundle of joy. But despite the peaceful atmosphere in her home, the start of Ferne’s pregnancy wasn’t exactly the easiest. Not long after discovering that she and her now ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins were expecting their first child, there was a seismic shift in their relationship. Following an incident in east London’s Wringer & Mangle nightclub on April 17, in which 16 people were injured, Arthur was arrested. The 25 year old’s trial began last week at Wood Green Crown Court. The trial was still ongoing as we went to press, and for Ferne, any talk of Arthur’s trial is strictly off limits due to legal reasons. However, it’s clear the situation has been tough on her. Talking about the effect this has had on her throughout the pregnancy, Ferne tells OK!: ‘Obviously there are moments when

‘BEING PREGNANT HAS MADE ME A MUCH STRONGER PERSON’

You had a stressful start to your pregnancy. Has that ever made you worry about your baby’s health? Yes, naturally it does. Ideally you don’t want to be stressed during pregnancy, but I’m not the only woman to go through that. My baby is so well protected and all my scans have been fine, but sometimes I do think, should I be concerned when I get the occasional aches and pains? Is that normal? But I just have to hope that all the mindfulness and meditation I’ve been doing is counteracting the stress. It’s all about how you deal with that stress and how you come back from it. There has been so much said about you during this time. Is there anything you’d like to clear up? I don’t want to give credence to anything. There has been all sorts of nonsense written about me with: ‘A source said this…’ I would love to know who these sources are. The stories are awful. I’d say 80 per cent of it is untrue. If I were to actually clear things up that have been reported I’d be here all day. What’s it been like to hear those stories?

That has been the hardest thing to deal with throughout this pregnancy. I don’t have Google Alerts but if I’m in the supermarkets I do see magazines saying this and that and I get mentioned in things on Twitter. You wonder if you’ve said something and it’s been misconstrued and then you worry about who you’ve been discussing things with. It shatters your trust in people. I get some lovely messages off people on social media but then other times I think, what must people think of me? So that has been really hard. I feel sorry for Coleen Rooney. My heart goes out to her. People act like they know what you’re going through and they don’t. They all have so much to say. How do you feel about being a single mum? I don’t like the term single mum and I don’t want to be addressed as that because I don’t think you should be labelled. To me, I’m going to be a mum like anyone else, but just in a different situation. It shouldn’t define you. But yes, I have done this whole pregnancy on my own, but at the same time I’m so not alone – I’ve got such a great support network with my mum, sister and friends. I’ve not felt alone or been alone once during this pregnancy. Are you dating anyone at the moment? No. I’m so not in that head space. The

pregnancy has taken over my life so I’m not even thinking about it at the moment. Do you miss having that special person by your side? It’s just so not on my radar at all. My main concern, and what is on my mind, is my baby. Is your mum still going to be moving in here when the baby arrives? I don’t know where she’s going to sleep. I have a blow-up bed, but my mum is like: ‘I’m not sleeping on a blow-up bed for two weeks!’ But she might have to! You have the baby’s crib in your bedroom. Will you eventually turn your dressing room into a nursery? I’m not changing that room yet. It’s actually the second bedroom and it would have been perfect for a nursery, but I bought this place before I knew I was pregnant. It’s too much to think about now. The baby is going to be in my bedroom for at least six months and my mum has done an amazing nursery at hers. I’ll see how I feel after six months, but I don’t know how I’ll feel about the baby being in another room on the other side of the house. I don’t think I’ll want to let them go. Also, I want to breastfeed, too. This is the first time you’ve lived by yourself. Do you ever feel lonely here? I thought I would feel lonely and scared but I feel so safe. I have lovely neighbours. You told us back in June you’d been crying and had been very emotional. How are you feeling now? I’m so much stronger. I’m being strong because I have to think about my baby. The whole process of being pregnant has made me a much stronger person. They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and it really is true. I feel like I’ve developed a new armour this year.

I love this home – I feel so homely and content here. It’s my safe zone.

a girl, I’m going to see what the baby looks like and then decide between the two.

A few of your former TOWIE co-stars also live in this housing complex. Do you see them much? Yes. I went round to Mario [Falcone]’s the other night. He and Becky [Miesner, his fiancée] cooked me a lovely meal. Gemma [Collins] lives just over the way. I haven’t seen her since I moved in, but she’s sent some lovely texts. Everyone has been really supportive. Kate Wright also lives here but I haven’t seen much of her because she’s been with her new love interest [Rio Ferdinand].

Are they traditional or more unusual names? They’re definitely not traditional. They’re more out-there but they’re not wacky. I think the name I

Do you still think you’re having a boy? I really don’t know now. I’ve imagined myself with a boy just because my fans and my friends and family think I’m having a boy. The only person who thinks it’s a girl is Billie [Faiers] and she’s been adamant since the start. I’ll be really shocked if it’s a girl, but it’d be really cute. Then we’d be twinning! Have you got your names sorted? I have my boys’ name finally! I had a girls’ name but I’ve just thought of another one I like so, if it’s 54

‘I WANT TO ENJOY THE BIRTH – I DON’T WANT AN EPIDURAL OR DRUGS’ choose is what people will have the most opinions on and that will bug me, but it’s my decision. Have you had a 4D scan? I did at around 28 weeks. I really regretted it because everyone else who had one was like: ‘Aww, it looks so much like Mummy!’ But my baby just constantly had its hands over his

face and wouldn’t move. It was really disappointing. It’s God testing me again, but it means it’s still a surprise. Do you have a birthing plan? My main focus has been hypnobirthing with The Wise Hippo. I’ve found the sessions very calming and I really want to enjoy the birth. I’ve also chosen to do a birth without pain relief. I don’t want an epidural, I don’t want drugs, I don’t want to be strapped up to a machine and I don’t want to be laying on my back. If all goes to plan the birth should go smoothly, but I’m aware it could take a different route. I could be being really naïve and the birth could be the most horrendous thing I ever experience. I just want everything to be perfect. If the baby is breech, that will be hell. What do they teach you in the hypnobirthing sessions? The breathing is the most important thing. They teach you how to keep calm and relaxed. To have a successful labour, we release two hormones. The main one is oxytocin and that’s what brings

the baby down the birthing canal with ease. To release it you have to be calm, relaxed and happy, so that’s what I’m focusing on. I also listen to calming music, do meditation and mindfulness and I do a lot with my crystal healing.

I work with them physically and use them for happiness and calming. I hold them and ask them to help me with a certain thing or I put one in the bath. You can also leave a crystal next to your bed or meditate with it.

Will you have a birthing pool? When I lay in the bath for longer than ten minutes I go so wrinkly. If I happen to be in the pool when I give birth then fine, but I’m not going to force myself to stay in there to have the baby.

Tell us about your new show, First Time Mum… It’s a 90-minute special that follows me throughout my pregnancy. I’m quite quirky so you’ll see me meet with a witch doctor, who blesses the unborn child, and discuss different birthing options. Being pregnant is a nervewracking time, so I think people will relate to it.

How did you get into crystal healing? I’ve always been quite spiritual and then a few years ago I went to see a spiritual healer. She was into crystal healing work so that got me into it. It’s harmless and helpful and I use them whenever I need them. My mum randomly bought me a bracelet with carnelian crystals and it turns out they’re perfect for pregnant women. I looked it up in my crystal encyclopedia and it’s the stone of joy, so I’m going to put some next to the baby’s crib. What do you do with the crystals?

Will you feature the birth? I really want my birth to be featured. But obviously I won’t be doing a Kourtney Kardashian and pulling my baby out myself! There will definitely be bits of me in labour, though. Will Sam and Billie [Faiers] be on the show?

I don’t think they will because they’re filming for The Mummy Diaries. My mum, sister Sophie and nephew Ronnie are on it, though, and loads of my friends like Stephanie Pratt and Vicky [Pattison]. A lot of it is just me, though, because I haven’t really got any pregnant friends. I can’t exactly drag a non-pregnant friend to pregnancy yoga. Is Steph’s romance with Love Island’s Jonny Mitchell the real deal? Yes. It’s definitely not a showmance. They had a lovely time together in Bali. They’re a bit of an unlikely couple, but they seem to be really into each other. Is Vicky going to be one of the baby’s godmothers? Probably not, she’s one of my best friends and I speak to her daily but I’ve got some of my old friends and my sister to consider. Me and my mum will hopefully be going to her and John [Noble]’s engagement party, but it’s quite close to my due date. I was over WWW.OK.CO.UK 55

the moon when I found out they were engaged. They’re perfect for each other. You’ve said you won’t take the baby on TOWIE… I’m not on it so why would I want my baby on it? It would be weird for my baby to become a character on TOWIE on its own. I’m not going back on the show and I don’t think I ever will. I love the show and I love watching it.

Above: Ferne loves her pregnancy shape and was pictured in Majorca in a bikini recently (far right). Top right: With Vicky Pattison

You’ve said being pregnant is the first time you’ve totally loved your body… I’ve not picked one flaw in it. I feel like my legs are actually more toned. My legs and bum have always been my thing but I feel really good about them. I can’t imagine standing naked in front of someone, but I do feel very confident. I’ve just loved my bump and I think I’ll really miss it. I’ve become so much more appreciative of my body and I’ve gained a new self-respect. And I’ve gone from craving salt and vinegar crisps to weird damp smells! I could sit here and take great pleasure in burying my nose in a sponge. You were recently pictured in a bikini in Majorca. How was your holiday? I wanted one last trip to relax, bare the bump, get some Vitamin D and have a massage. I went for the weekend and it’s only a two-hour flight, but I was a bit nervous! I was thinking, what if I go into labour in Majorca? How did you feel about being criticised for exercising while pregnant? I felt body shamed. The NHS, every single book and experts recommend exercising. If I’d sat around and put on loads of weight I’d have been criticised then too. And I know when the baby arrives the parenting police will be out in force. But this is new for me and I’ll be learning on the job. How much time will you take off from work and This Morning? I’ll play it by ear but I want to be a working mum, so the baby is going to go to work with me. I’m going to continue filming my show and I have a new range out in the New Year. I’m still filming a few bits with This Morning, and it’s not like I’m Holly [Willoughby] and Phillip [Schofield] and I have to be there every day. I haven’t been in the studio for ages but the last time I saw them they were so lovely and gave me so much support. Are you having a baby shower? No. I couldn’t find a venue and it was stressing me out. I’m definitely going to celebrate when the baby is here, though, and have a blessing. Do you want more children? Definitely. I‘ve always pictured myself with more than one. But then again, I might be so happy and content with this one baby. OK! STOCKISTS: ASOS WWW.ASOS.COM; BEACH CITY WWW. ‘i showed taylor the engagement ring i want’ ‘towie’ stars Chloe Meadows and taylor Barnett tell ok!’s katie langford-foster about their first holiday as a couple

T

he first holiday as a couple can often be a big test for a new relationship, but Chloe Meadows and Taylor Barnett needn’t have worried when they headed to Mexico recently. ‘We got on even better out there than we do at home!’ Chloe told OK! when we caught up with the pair for their first interview, just after they returned from their stay at The Grand at Moon Palace resort in Cancun. Since introducing herself to the TOWIE gang back in February last year, Chloe – who lives in Loughton with her dad – hasn’t had the easiest time. She’s fallen out with childhood friend Megan McKenna and been brutally shushed by Amber Turner. After builder Taylor joined the ITVBe show, Chloe was made to feel insecure about their relationship by Myles Barnett, who is dating her best pal Courtney Green. Myles had introduced the pair six months earlier, but claimed that Taylor had been happier with a former girlfriend. As a result, the friendship between Myles and Taylor – who share a surname, though they are not related – has been under strain. But when we catch up with Chloe and her man – who lives in Bishop’s Stortford with his family – it’s clear to see that ‘fussy’ dater Chloe has finally met her match. Here, the pair tell OK! about taking their relationship to the small screen and why Taylor, 23, needs to get saving for a sparkler…

diving. We were like action men for the week. We let the little turtles go in the sea too. It was so nice. I’m sad to be home. Taylor: She wanted to bring the turtles home! A first holiday together can be a test for a new relationship. How did the two of you get along out there? Taylor: We got along perfectly, actually. No dramas at all. Chloe: I was a bit worried because a lot of times when you go on your first holiday, it’s make or break. So before we went I was thinking, what if we don’t get on? How did you two meet? Taylor: We met through Myles. I was at his birthday meal in March and Courtney brought Chloe. But Myles already had it in the pipeline to set us up. Chloe: Myles had been going on at me for months. I would be sat texting boys and saying: ‘Oh, they are so annoying,’ or: ‘Why hasn’t he texted me back?’ He would be like: ‘Don’t worry. My friend Taylor is for you.’ I’m so fussy, so I was like, no, he isn’t! When we all went to dinner I was so embarrassed because everyone knew we were being set up. We had to sit next to each other and I was silent the whole meal. I didn’t say a word! Taylor: [To Chloe] You were like a big kid! Chloe: I was just so embarrassed and then we went on to a club and Courtney and I had some shots and then I was kissing Taylor all night after that! I got all brave.

What did you get up to in Mexico? Chloe: We did so much! We did jet-skiing, boat trips, went on a golf buggy and did scuba-

The couple – who have been dating since March – relax in the adults only pool at The Grand at Moon Palace What happened next? Chloe: Taylor messaged me on Instagram that night when I got a cab home. He asked for my number and then we went on a date the following Wednesday. Where did you go for your first date? Chloe: We went to see Beauty And The Beast. That was my idea. No offence to Taylor – [to Taylor] obviously I love you now – but at first I wasn’t that interested, so I was like, I really want to see that film and this is a good opportunity to see it. Taylor: [To Chloe] Showing your true colours now, Chlo. Just trying to get a free cinema trip! When did you guys make it official? Chloe: The night before I went to Dubai in April. He tactically asked me because he knew I was going away with the girls. Who said ‘I love you’ first? Chloe: Taylor said it first on a drunk night out! Taylor: It was before Dubai. It was about a month and a half after we first went out. Chloe: Taylor just makes me laugh a lot. Taylor: I love that Chloe is active. She likes to try new things and you’re sometimes funny, aren’t you Chloe? Chloe: I’m always funny [laughs]! 60

How often do you see each other? Chloe: I always have a couple of nights at home and then stay at Taylor’s for about five nights of the week. My dad is really strict so I’m not allowed boys in the house. He’s met Taylor and likes him. My dad’s fine with me staying at Taylor’s, he just doesn’t want it under his roof. Taylor: [Jokingly] I reckon he’s just tight and doesn’t want to pay for the water bill! Chloe, do you get on with Taylor’s family? I love them all. I love his little nephews! I’m obsessed with them. Last night, he decided to see the boys without me and I got the hump! Taylor: That’s the main reason she comes round – not to see me, to see my nephews! Chloe: I always say to Taylor, his nephews are so cute that if he’s got that cute gene, then we’re definitely going to have babies. But not for a long while. Are you going to move in together any time soon? Taylor: We have said we’ll give it time and we’ll think about it, definitely. So it’s on the cards but it’s a little way away yet. She more or less lives at mine anyway and it’s free, so we’re not going to move out yet [laughs]. Do you ever talk about getting engaged? Chloe: I showed Taylor the engagement ring I want on holiday. We met a guy around the pool who was proposing to his girlfriend that night. He was telling us about the ring, so I said to Taylor: ‘I already know the ring that I want.’ Then later on we walked past a jewellery shop so I thought, let me look and see if they have it. It’s a big one – I’m like, get saving, Taylor [laughs]! Boys get really stressed about it. I always say to Taylor: ‘Don’t worry, it’s not like I want to get married right now.’ It’s a while off. We haven’t really thought about when that might happen yet. Taylor: [Laughs] She’s getting ideas. You and Taylor have fallen out with Courtney and Myles. How are things with them at the moment? Chloe: I gave Courtney some advice, trying to help her when she was feeling insecure, but Myles has turned round and said he doesn’t appreciate my opinion. So it’s turned into a big argument, which is stressful. Myles is Taylor’s friend so it’s turned sour between them too. Taylor: It’s not good.

because I was so insecure, but then I got to a point where I realised it was more about Taylor falling out with his best friend, rather than me falling out with Myles. Taylor: Me and Myles still aren’t speaking, we’re not on talking terms at all. As long as we can be civil then that’s going in the right direction – we can go from there. Has it driven a wedge between you and Courtney, Chloe? Obviously it made things a little bit awkward between us and there was underlying tension, but at the end of the day, me and Courtney have our friendship, then she has her relationship and I have mine. We don’t really talk to each other about our boyfriends any more, which is kind of strange, but we’re just trying to hold on to our friendship. Are you glad to be back on speaking terms with Megan McKenna now, too? Chloe: It’s so much nicer. Before, we would walk into a room together and not even look at each other. That went on for a year, and considering she was the closest person to me for almost my whole life, that was really weird. I used to get really upset about it. It’s really chilled now. We were even texting when I was in Mexico. Don’t get me wrong, we’re not as close as before; that’s going to take time. But it’s like a weight off my shoulders. Have you been there for her since her split from Pete Wicks? Chloe: Yeah, we’ve had a conversation about that. She’s always known – even when we fell out – that if she ever really needed me then I’d be there for her. I’m most definitely here for her now whenever she needs to chat. Do you think Megan and Pete could get back together? Chloe: Never say never. She seems pretty fine about it. It didn’t seem like a complete mess, it seemed like they had come to this decision together. But you never know.

Do you feel protective of Chloe, Taylor? I’ll always have Chloe’s back. At the end of the day, she’s the only one that matters. I’ve got friends on the show as well, but Chloe is my priority. Chloe, you said you were worried you could lose Taylor after Myles claimed he was unhappy. Where do things stand now? I got all insecure. I got told that he wasn’t happy with me and that he had been happier in the past. I took that information and ran with it and I couldn’t get it out of my head. I kept questioning Taylor and I think I was annoying him quite a lot because I was going on and on, but it planted a massive seed of doubt in my head. But we got through it. I needed some reassurance and I got it. Taylor, how did you reassure Chloe? Myles said that because he knew Chloe was insecure, so I knew it was just a low blow. I constantly told Chloe it was rubbish, because that’s how Myles works. He was backed into a corner. [To Chloe] How did I reassure you, Chlo? Chloe: I was just always begging, asking: ‘Do you love me? Are you sure you love me?’ And he was like: ‘Yes, Chlo, of course!’ 62

So you feel happy then, Taylor? Yeah! I am happy. I can’t ask for anything more, really. We’re in a good place with our relationship. Chloe’s always positive and has always got my back, and she loves me loads – she doesn’t leave me alone! [Chloe laughs.] Chloe, you opened up about your exboyfriend leaving you for his former girlfriend. How difficult was that to talk about? The producers wanted me to explain why it was such a soft spot for me and why I was so insecure. It’s hard, saying stuff like that, but I’ve got to remember that there are so many people watching who will relate to it. They’ll have been through it and know exactly how I felt. I got a lot of messages on Instagram from girls saying they’d been through the same thing. I replied to a couple of them saying it would get better and that time is a healer. Why did you decide to forgive Myles for what he said? Chloe: I was getting myself really down and I felt really stressed. There had been a massive dark cloud over me for a few weeks because I was so focused on being angry and upset. I was paranoid with Taylor

Chloe, you have said in the past that you wouldn’t want a relationship on the show because of your insecurities. What changed? The boys do get a lot of attention and I feel like they do get it offered on a plate. So it takes a lot to meet someone and trust that they aren’t going to play around. Even now, Taylor gets girls messaging him on Instagram. But I trust Taylor. I was wary at first, but now I feel like I trust him and he wouldn’t hurt me. Taylor: That’s music to my ears! Amber Turner and Dan Edgar appear to be rekindling things... Chloe: You’ll see in the next few weeks that stuff happens with him. I don’t think he’s the one for her. She can do better. He likes to be single and likes to be a playboy. I know Dan can play around a bit. Did you appreciate Amber’s apology for shushing you in the last series, Chloe? I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it was happening, but it was nice. We needed to have that chat and now it’s normal again. You said in the past that you’ve cried and been upset when you saw pictures of yourself... Chloe: That was when I first went on the show. When you first see pictures of

yourself in papers and online, it’s a shock because you only really see photos when you’ve taken them yourself from a good angle. Then when you do something like TOWIE and people take pictures of you off guard you think, wow, is that really what I look like?! I look hideous! I used to get really upset about it but it doesn’t bother me now. Is the attention of being on television something you’re adjusting to, Taylor? Definitely. Like Chloe said, what you look like every day when you aren’t really paying attention is completely different to when you’re ready and waiting for a photo. Chloe: And people don’t like change. When I first came on the show, people were really horrible about me and I used to take the comments to heart. Taylor: There are a lot of critics and they are the ones that play on your mind.

‘I’ll always have Chloe’s baCk – she Is my prIorIty’ Have you had any negative comments online so far, Taylor? [To Chloe] What about the one on holiday? They took a screen-shot of my belly! Chloe: I put up a picture of us on Instagram. Taylor is like a stick but he had a bit of a belly just because he was sat down. Someone direct messaged me a screen-shot of his belly. I felt like messaging back to say: ‘How dare you, that’s my boyfriend!’ I almost get more protective over Taylor than I do about myself. Taylor: I just think it’s hilarious. Lots of the TOWIE girls have undergone cosmetic procedures. Have you had anything done, Chloe? No. When I first joined the show I wanted to get lip fillers. I’d do scenes talking to all of the other girls who had them and I looked like I had no lips. It really frustrated me at first but then I got over it. My parents really don’t want me to get anything done either. Taylor: [To Chloe] I don’t think you need your lips done at all! I love that Chloe’s natural. She’s a natural beauty. OK! ‘Leonardo said i was out of my mind!’ kate winslet on her chaLLenging new fiLm, working with idris eLba and the advice Leonardo dcaprio gave her

T

wo decades after declaring their undying love for each other, many of us still wish Titanic’s Rose had found room on that makeshift raft for Jack. And some ardent fans even go so far as to accost actress Kate Winslet about it! The Reading-born star laughs: ‘I’ll be confronted: “If only you’d held on longer.” There’s a lot of people who wish Jack and Rose had made it out alive together.’ Her latest drama, The Mountain Between Us, was shot in the Canadian Rockies in sub-zero temperatures, and Kate says it was worse than spending days in icy waters filming Titanic! She stars alongside Luther’s Idris Elba, with the pair playing two strangers – a surgeon and a journalist – who must fight for their survival when their plane crashes. Last week the 42-year-old actress came out fighting on behalf of the ‘incredibly brave women’ who’ve made allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. Describing it as ‘deeply shocking to hear’, she said: ‘His behaviour is without question disgraceful and appalling and very, very wrong.’ Kate, who won an Oscar for 2009’s The Reader, lives in West Sussex with her husband Ned Rocknroll and their three-year-old son Bear. She is also mum to daughter Mia, who turns 17 this week, and Joe, 13, from her previous marriages. Here, she talks about shooting in snow, her 20-year friendship with Leonardo DiCaprio and grinding her own coffee... The scene from The Mountain Between Us where you plunge into freezing water looked very real. Were you terrified?

Above: In The Mountain Between Us with ‘yummy and fabulous’ Idris Elba. Left: Her husband Ned was ‘concerned’ about the dangers on the set Petrified and terrified! But it very nearly didn’t happen. I talked to Janene, my stunt person, and she said: ‘Oh it’s okay, you’re not doing it.’ Hang on – me, not doing a scene with ice and water? I am the queen of ice and water! So I marched up to Hany [Abu-Assad, the director] in this very British manner, and said: ‘Hany, when are we doing this shot?’ He said: ‘The studio won’t allow it.’ That’s all I needed. I said: ‘Out of my way.’ Straight in. Done. Took about seven takes, but we did it! How did it compare to those scenes in Titanic? This was much harder. We were in a huge tank in Mexico for Titanic – this was proper up a mountain in the Canadian Rockies in -38˚C temperatures. I’ve never experienced anything quite so cold in my life. Did your family worry about you? My husband was concerned on this one. I was 10,000ft on top of a snowy mountain with the ever-present danger of freezing to death and avalanches. But this was true for many of the crew, the same people who worked on The Revenant, so they understand harsh, dangerous conditions and I was able to comfort myself in that knowledge. Did you talk to Leonardo DiCaprio about it? He said to me: ‘You are bl***y out of your mind to do this. Do you know how hard it’s going to be? In those conditions, you’ll probably lose a limb!’ [Laughs]

Above: Kate’s ‘dear friend’ Leonardo DiCaprio warned her against filming in the Canadian Rockies! Top right: She won an Oscar in 2009 64

Who had it harder, him in The Revenant or you in this? He climbed into the carcass of a dead animal, naked. I think he’s got me well and truly beaten. Will you work together again? We have zero plans but he’s one of my dear best friends. I hope we make it happen.

How was it working with Idris Elba? He is utterly yummy and fabulous. All my friends, we’re out having lunch and especially after this film, they say to me: ‘Can we please, please live vicariously through you? Tell us, what was it like kissing that man?’ I tell them everything and more! What do you think is the greatest misconception about you in general? To assume because I have this posh intonation that I grew up with a silver spoon squarely in my mouth. That couldn’t be further from the case. What was your upbringing like? We never had money growing up. My parents were raising a big family and it was a struggle, but it gave us a sense of practicality and reality. We all learnt from early on that if you want something, you have to work hard for it. I had to dig around for every penny I could to get me on that train to London for an audition. I was working at deli counters, slicing up meat. I was working at sweet shops, counting out penny drops. I grafted to get here. What did you learn working behind a deli counter?! How to treat food, the different flavour combinations. I learnt how to make coffee with real beans. I loved grinding the beans [laughs]. Have you passed that drive onto your kids? ‘I AM UTTERLY BESOTTED WITH MY CHILDREN’ MFLY DRUMMER HARRY JUDD OPENS UP ABOUT HIS ANXIETY AND ADDICTIONS, FATHERHOOD AND gETTINg THE BAND BACk IN THE STUDIO

H

arry Judd has been one quarter of McFly since they formed over a decade ago. The band have enjoyed chart-topping success and Harry even lifted the Strictly Come Dancing Glitterball trophy in 2011. He married his wife Izzy, 33, a year later, and the couple now have two children – Lola, 19 months, who they conceived through IVF, and two-month-old Kit. What some may not realise is that the drummer, 31, has battled addiction, anxiety and panic attacks during his career. Happily, Harry has found exercise is key to his mental health. In his new book Get Fit, Get Happy, he candidly shares his experiences. Here, OK! sits down with Harry to discuss what it’s like having two children under two, what he makes of this year’s Strictly cast and his wife’s constant support… What is the best thing about fatherhood? It’s impossible to explain. I am just so utterly besotted by my children. Even today, I was holding Lola, thinking, just please don’t grow up! Stay the same. Just looking at her, my heart melts. I feel completely in love. Izzy found it difficult to fall pregnant the first time round after being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. How difficult was that to deal with, initially? I didn’t go into panic mode straight away, but there was an element of that. It’s tough because children were something we’d always talked about even before we were engaged, but it did bring us closer together. The dynamic changes because you’re not just tootling along as a happy couple. That’s what marriage is about. Now we’ve got two children and we feel very blessed. I’m happy that Izzy is back to herself and thriving in motherhood. How is it having two kids under two? It’s a handful, but I’ve been busy working. Izzy clicked into gear about two weeks after Kit was born. Ever since then, she’s been smashing it. She’s an amazing mum and completely selfless. I just try and help out where I can.

With his McFly bandmates Tom Fletcher, Dougie Poynter and Danny Jones 66

Would you like more kids? You can’t answer that when you’ve just had one and your first one is only 19 months. Ask me in a couple of years! Danny Jones’s wife is pregnant – has he asked you for any parenting advice? Just comments, like: ‘I cannot wait to see you with a child.’

Above: Harry has daughter Lola and son Kit (right) Has he ever with wife Izzy. Left: babysat for you? Winning Strictly with Oh God, no. D

emi Lovato [left] has bravely opened up about suffering from bipolar disorder. She said in a recent interview: ‘I deal with mood swings, I deal with episodes of mania, and bipolardepression phases as well.’ It’s great that she’s spoken about and tried to destigmatise the condition, especially as it was World Mental Health Day last week. It’s a serious longterm condition which can be hard to manage. People with bipolar have periods of mania, which is where they’re energetic and they can’t sleep, or they might do impulsive things they wouldn’t normally do like spend lots of money. It can be very hard for their families too, especially when someone is behaving erratically, as it can leave them vulnerable. They will then swing over to periods of depression, which can also have a massive impact on their life. I saw it a lot in my job on a psychiatric ward and people can act completely out of character. It can be managed if you get the right treatment, and you can be stable with the use of long-term medication and many people with bipolar can continue their life as normal.

eing back at my parents’ house for a week was so nice, but it was a shame that the kids were ill. My lovely dad came back on the train with me to help as I had a suitcase, a car seat, Theo in his sling and Millie to keep an eye on! I feel sorry for Pete that his family home is on the other side of the world. He really misses them [right] and it can be tricky to keep in touch with the time difference, so when I whinge about having to get on a train for a few hours with loads of stuff, I need to remember that he has to travel for a whole day to his childhood home! I haven’t been to Australia since we took Junior and Princess there when I was pregnant with Millie. It would be a complete nightmare to take Theo now, especially with three other kids, so I don’t think we’ll go until he’s of school age. At home we are back in the swing of school and nursery since being away. Millie and Junior have zero sense of urgency when it comes to getting ready. They are so slow! They definitely get it from Pete – I am not taking responsibility for that! When Theo is starting school, Princess will be starting her GCSEs and Junior

will be beginning his A-levels, so in about five years we’re going to have an even busier household and there will be absolutely no time to hang around. We’re loving watching Strictly Come Dancing at the moment and are all getting behind Janette [Manrara]. She and Aston [Merrygold, below left] have been so good that I feel like they don’t need my vote! My personal favourite is Debbie McGee [below right]. She is awesome and I feel like she’s doing it for the middle-aged women out there. She also looks amazing and has the body and flexibility of a 20 year old! After losing her husband Paul Daniels last year [bottom right], it must be a big deal to put herself out there again, so I take my hat off to her. I think Craig Revel-Horwood was harsh to mark

T

her down for the ten-second rule, which is where you can’t spend more than ten seconds out of hold doing solo moves away from your dance partner. I don’t know enough about the technical side but I feel like the judges have been a bit unfair on Charlotte Hawkins. I think they are overmarking people who are technically not as good as her for entertainment value.

the duchess is glowing

he Duchess of Cambridge made her first public appearance [left] since announcing she was pregnant with her third child last week. Despite suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum – extreme morning sickness – she still looked amazing and was absolutely glowing. I’m excited to watch her bump grow. I think we carry quite similarly – however, it’s hard to tell when I’ve only seen her in pictures! People always used to say how

small my bump was, which I saw as more of an observation than a criticism. And actually with Theo, I was very tiny and my bump always measured small at my midwife checks. Although I was occasionally asked if I was eating enough, most people do understand that every pregnancy is different! I was happy because, even though Theo was three weeks early, he was still a good size at 6lb 10oz, and he and Millie were both very healthy. OK! WWW.OK.CO.UK 69

Blue’s Duncan James tells OK! all aBout coming out, going Broke and life with his late Best pal, tara palmer-tomkinson

W

hen we arrive to meet Duncan James, he is as warm as ever and asks us to join him for lunch as we pull up a seat beside him in the publishing house of Blue’s new autobiography Blue: All Rise, Our Story. The juicy tell-all book recounts the trials and tribulations the band have faced over the years, including Duncan’s decision to come out as bisexual in 2009, the star filing for bankruptcy in 2013, and dealing with the devastating loss of his best pal, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson from a perforated ulcer and peritonitis earlier this year. Blue were one of the most successful pop groups of the noughties, and in our exclusive interview, Duncan tells OK! that more is to come from the chart-topping boy band. ‘We’re talking about stuff for next year already,’ Duncan teases. ‘We’re planning something quite big and exciting.’ Here, Duncan, 39, reveals how Blue went broke, talks openly about coping with fame by smoking marijuana and gives us a rare glimpse into his friendship with the late Tara… Why did you decide to pay tribute to Tara in the book? I couldn’t leave her out because she was such a massive part of my life, but I didn’t want to feel like I was jumping on the bandwagon. I read certain things in the papers from people who were coming out of the woodwork after she died, saying all this stuff about her. I was like, you didn’t even know her. I just hated that. I could write a whole book on her! What’s your favourite memory of Tara? We were skiing in Klosters and we were letting off fireworks on her balcony. Next door was a really well respected doctor. I did that stupid thing of going back to relight a firework that hadn’t gone off, and it went off in my face. Tara was like: ‘Oh my God, are you okay?!’ as I fell to the floor – I’d singed my eyebrow off. There was a drop straight down in between our balcony and the doctor’s balcony, she jumped right over and banged on his door, saying: ‘Doctor, doctor, Duncan’s just blown himself up!’ He was like: ‘Let’s get some ice on it.’

Above: Duncan was worried about coming out to his family. Above right: On screen in Hollyoaks Was declaring bankruptcy in 2013 difficult? There was a big grey area where people were saying: ‘Blue have gone bankrupt.’ But we weren’t allowed to talk about why. People just assumed we’d spent all our money. But it wasn’t that, it was a lot worse. We were screwed over. It was a big mess. What happened? Me and the boys met these managers and were in LA recording an album. We were loving it, then it went horribly wrong. It went very dark, very quickly. Have you recovered financially now? Yeah. The thing with bankruptcy is we didn’t choose it, we were kind of forced into doing it. You admit to smoking marijuana in the book… I was just smoking weed on the tour bus, trying to blot out everything that was going on – just numbing myself, in a way. Being stoned felt like I could cope with the fame and the pressure. It just got so manic and crazy for us. We were never drug addicts or anything like that.

In the book you say you decided to come out as bisexual in a national newspaper in 2009. How difficult was that for you? It was really scary. It gave me the worst anxiety. I had to leave the country because I just couldn’t bear to be here. I was dating someone at the time who said to me: ‘We’re going on a wine tasting course this weekend, Above: Duncan hints that we’re going to drive to there’s more to come from France and you’re not Blue. Left: Tara was one of going to worry about Duncan’s best friends it.’ I locked myself away in the darkest

90

deepest depths of France in these vineyards and got p***ed for the weekend. But when I got back to the UK I was worried I was going to get gay-bashed. I was frightened to walk down the street, but nothing happened. How did you tell your loved ones? When I told Simon [Webbe], he encouraged me to speak to my mum, who was in LA with me in a hotel at the time. I raided my mini bar, drank a load of drinks, then knocked on her door. I was sobbing and I sat her down and said: ‘Remember my friend Pete? I’ve been in love with him. He’s been my secret boyfriend.’ She said: ‘You’re gay? I thought you were going to say you had cancer!’ Was it a burden keeping your sexuality a secret for so long? I’d wake up each morning thinking, is today the day I’m going to get outed? You just have this fear, living with this big sandbag on your shoulders. It brings you down every single day and I’d think, what can I do to cover this up? So I overcompensated in other areas, like dating people like Martine McCutcheon [laughs]. Are you still in touch with Martine? I will always remember ringing her up when we split and she ended it with: ‘Well just know, you could have been Mr Martine McCutcheon!’ I still see Martine – I bumped into her the other day and it was just like old times. Are you single at the moment? No, I’m dating someone, but I don’t talk about him. I’m very private. In this business you give so much to everybody all the time, so it’s nice to keep something back. There are rumours you could be leaving Hollyoaks soon… Well on Hollyoaks if you’ve committed a crime, or killed someone, then justice has to be served – that’s the golden rule. But I was always going to do at least two years on Hollyoaks. I’m still on contract until next year, I think after I might take a break from it and then go back. I’m not being killed off. ‘MADE IN CHELSEA’ VETERAN LOUISE THOMPSON REVEALS HER NEw fITNESS pRojECT To OK!’S joSIE CopSoN AND ExpLAINS THAT bREAk-up TwEET

W

hen Louise Thompson began dating her personal trainer boyfriend Ryan Libbey in spring 2016, she became a self-confessed fitness fanatic. A year later and Ryan, 27, has moved into the south-west London home she shares with brother Sam Thompson, 25, and now Louise has become the first European ambassador for activewear company Fabletics, founded by Hollywood actress Kate Hudson. Here, the 27 year old tells OK! just how much her life has changed, why she’s putting herself first and her dream of starting a family with Ryan one day…

Louise is still loved up with Ryan – and she’s set a deadline for a proposal!

You recently tweeted: ‘You learn more about someone at the end of a relationship than at the beginning. FACT.’ Are you and Ryan still together? It was just a really poignant tweet to me – I didn’t mean it to relate to Ryan; I didn’t even think about that at all! Sam has gone through a break-up [with Tiffany Watson] recently so that’s been very relevant around the house. I didn’t mean it in a disrespectful way to anyone, but it was just so true. At the beginning of a relationship you’re just a con because you’re trying to be the perfect person. So you and Ryan are still together? Yes. He was actually really annoyed. He was like: ‘Why did you tweet that? Everyone is asking whether we’re together or not.’ I had to do a post to let everyone know we’re still together as a favour. [Laughs] I’m joking!

gETTY ImAgES, InSTAgRAm

You recently moved in together. Have you learnt anything new about each other? The first few years of a relationship, you’re still getting to know each other. You will see a few rocky patches on the show, but in general because we’ve now lived together for about four months we’ve really adapted. We’re in a perfect place. How long does it take you to make up when you fall out? I don’t hold a grudge for longer than a minute. I don’t like not liking people. It’s probably a bad thing, but in a relationship it’s good. Things get really heated and then a minute later I’m like: ‘Wait – can we just talk about this?’ Ryan is more stubborn. He’ll leave the house and go to

the gym for a few hours. It’s so frustrating. How is it with Sam living with you both? It’s good. I feel like I don’t want to rub mine and Ryan’s happiness in his face because of the whole Tiff thing. It’s nice because it diffuses any situations as well. Having the three of us there makes it less intense, but he is actually going to move out. You said this summer that you’ll have ‘baby Ryans’ running around in a year or two. Is that still the case? I’m loving fitness at the moment and you can’t do much of that when you’re pregnant. While I’m on this cool journey I might as well take advantage of that because hopefully I’ve got plenty of time to have kids. But I do want to have a big family, so maybe in three years. I’d like to get engaged, then get married and then have babies. I’m quite traditional.

You said you’d like to be engaged within a year of moving in together. Ryan has eight months left… There is a time limit to that, don’t worry about it. Ryan knows! Congratulations on your collaboration with Fabletics. Why did you decide to become an ambassador? It’s so exciting. I’ve always been really into fashion, and the last year and a half has been quite transformative in terms of my fitness. It seemed like a really good fit. A lot of the other brands I found quite dull and bland. Especially in winter, I like to jazz things up a bit!

Louise is the first European ambassador for Fabletics activewear

Have you met Fabletics co-founder Kate Hudson? I haven’t yet. She’s such an icon. It’s so cool to even be associated with her. I know the brand is huge in the US so hopefully there will be more opportunity to work over there and do some events with them. I’m the first European ambassador, which is such an achievement. I can’t quite believe it, to be honest. OK! SHop THE LoUISE THompSon EdIT on WWW.FABLETIcS.co.UK.

They’re all younger than me and can eat anything, but I can’t.’

Do you like experimenting with different forms of exercise? I think you need to, because you just get bored in the gym, unless I’ve got a trainer teaching me something new. I cheat when I’m on my own. Me and Leanne [Brown] did aerial Pilates. It was fun, but we didn’t realise how difficult it was. What’s your go-to comfort food? You know what I love? You probably don’t think it’s comfort food, but I’m obsessed with sea bass. I’m not into chocolate – sea bass is the one for me. What’s your favourite part of your body? Probably my arms. I’ve probably lost a bit of tone now but I love my arms. What about your least favourite? It probably has to be my legs and my hips. I just wish I was taller, then maybe it would be more stretched out.

How do you keep in shape? I go to a dance class called diva fever. It’s basically hip hop, pump and a bit of zumba. We have themed weeks and we had Beyoncé week, so we did a ten-minute routine to a remix of her songs. I literally came home thinking, I am Beyoncé! There was also a danceathon for charity where we danced non-stop for two hours! How often do you work out? We have a gym at home and I’ve got boys [Neil, 21, and aaron, 18] who are always working out. They say: ‘Come on Mum, let’s get in the gym,’ so I’d say it’s every day more or less. My eldest used to go to dance classes, so we just dance in front of the mirror. everyone thinks we’re nuts, but it’s proper cardio. What are your fitness levels like now compared to in the past? I’ve always been quite fit and always loved sport. When I was a child I was the captain of my netball team. I used to play squash and tennis too. I know I’m a lot older now, but I still think I’m 21. She’s gorgeous, I’d like to be Nermina. Are you body confident? When I was younger I used to be paranoid about everything, but as you grow older you get better. I’ve got an amazing husband who makes me feel like a million dollars, so I am what I am. What are your views on having plastic surgery? Some of your Real Housewives Of Cheshire co-stars are big fans… I’ve not had anything done. I always believed you grow old gracefully but never say never. There could be a day that I look in the mirror and think, bl***y hell [laughs]! But at the moment I’m happy the way I am. Do you feel pressure to look a certain way because you’re on TV? HYPNOBIRTHING cAN THIS cELEBRITY-APPROvED PRAcTIcE REALLY EASE LABOuR? OK! INvESTIGATES...

H

ypnobirthing has become all the rage among celebrity mums and has apparently even been given the royal seal of approval. HRH the Duchess of Cambridge, who displayed the first signs of a baby bump during a reception at Buckingham Palace last week (see page 6), is thought to have used the technique when she was pregnant with Prince George, listening to meditation recordings to get her into a relaxed frame of mind ahead of his birth. Sam Faiers used hypnobirthing when she opted for a home water birth ahead of the arrival of son Paul in January 2016. Sam, who is now expecting her second child with partner Paul Knightley, told OK!: ‘Paul set up the birthing pool in the lounge and from that point I was in the hypnobirthing zone. I had nice soft music playing, Friends was on the telly and I concentrated on my breathing.’ With her first baby due in a few weeks, Sam’s friend Ferne McCann has been busy preparing with hypnobirthing sessions. The This Morning presenter and former TOWIE star tells OK! this week that the experience has opened her mind and made her look forward to the birth with ‘positive vibes’ (see page 50). Others who have been equally impressed by hypnobirthing include presenter Fearne Cotton, who credited it for her ‘intense and euphoric’ birth with her second child, daughter Honey. The presenter was able to have a natural and pain relief-free labour. Author and mum of two Giovanna Fletcher has also praised hypnobirthing’s ‘simplicity’. Over in Hollywood, Jessica Alba – who is also pregnant with her third child – told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that hypnobirthing eased her anxiety. The actress and businesswoman said: ‘I’m just concentrating on breathing and staying relaxed, because it’s when you get tense that it makes the whole labour worse and more painful. That’s all it is.

Katherine Graves, director of The Hypnobirthing Association and founder of KGHypnobirthing, says hypnobirthing techniques can make a real difference. She explains: ‘In order to relieve pain, the pain has to be there in the first place. Hypnobirthing works on the premise that if mind and body are working together in the way nature designed, the pain may not be there at all, so there is no pain to relieve.’ But is it right for you? OK! investigates and seeks to find out…

WHAT IS HYPNOBIRTHING?

Hypnobirthing techniques are a modification of the age-old breathing and relaxation exercises that have helped women give birth in all cultures for many years. Teresa Walsh, a midwife and childbirth educator at The Portland hospital in London, explains to OK!: ‘Anxiety and fear can increase levels of our stress hormone, adrenaline, and this in turn blocks our labour and painrelieving hormones – oxytocin and endorphins. Hypnobirthing teaches us how to manage our stress and relax appropriately during labour and to mentally prepare your body for this natural process.’ Katharine says hypnobirthing is all about exercises and visualisations that dispel worries. She explains: ‘It’s about releasing the fears, letting go of the misconceptions and assumptions that are prevalent about birth.’

DOES IT ALWAYS WORK?

Studies have shown that hypnobirthing can shorten labour and improve the health outcomes for mother and baby, but childbirth is not always predictable. Teresa tells OK!: ‘There are many variables Meditation is a component of hypnobirthing which has fans all over the world

Above: Sam Faiers – who is expecting her second child – is a hypnobirthing fan. Far left: Hypnobirthing was reportedly used by the Duchess of Cambridge WWW.OK.CO.UK 97

In assocIatIon wIth that will affect a birth, most of which we have minimal control over. For example, some babies are not quite in the optimal position and so labour can be longer and more painful. Also, every woman’s pain experiences are unique.’

CUT THE RISK OF SHAVING NICKS AND ENJOY BABY SOFT LEGS

is hYPnoBirthing aVaiLaBLe on the nhs?

Not usually. Hynobirthing specialists often go into NHS hospitals and teach midwives to become hypnobirthing teachers so they can offer the class, are equipped to support the women who have attended the class, and can support other women with the techniques. Most hospitals charge for the course because making a financial contribution guarantees the woman’s commitment.

hoW mUch Do the cLasses cost?

Prices can vary depending on the area you live in, whether you opt to take a private or group class, or take just one class or several over the course of a few weeks. The average cost is approximately £200 for large groups, going up to £450 for private sessions, for around 12 hours of classes.

are Partners aLso WeLcome at the cLasses?

Above and above left: Partners are encouraged to take part in the programme yes, although some women may choose to go by themselves. it really is up to the individual. birthing partners – be it a spouse, family member or friend – are encouraged to attend all the classes. katharine says: ‘during hypnobirthing classes, partners learn how to be effective supporters during the labour, which in turn helps them to feel more involved in their baby’s birth.’

When Do YoU neeD to start?

you can attend hypnobirthing classes from around 30 weeks. There are many different hypnobirthing techniques and instructors that vary in their experience, so make sure you do your research before you book your classes.

Does Practice make PerFect?

katherine believes that the more you practise, the more effective the result. She says: ‘The work is done in the practice and it takes around ten to 15 minutes a day, and a mother will often do them with her partner. This can change her approach to birth and her mindset, so she feels positive and optimistic about the birth of her baby.’ OK!

While i agree with lorraine that, by and large, you can have a life outside

of your family, there may be other reasons that caused them to split. maybe louise didn’t want to go into details and air her dirty laundry in public. When you’ve got children, you don’t want certain things on record, so i think giving amicable comments and quotes is commendable as it keeps your children out of it, which is important. i’ve been through divorce myself and realise how important it is to keep everything amicable.

ith this year’s X Factor competition starting to heat up, few people know the stresses and strains of the talent show better than 2015 winner Louisa Johnson. When OK! catches up with the 19 year old, she tells us ‘everything’ has changed since her win two years ago. ‘It feels like it’s been forever, but it hasn’t,’ she reveals. Although he wasn’t her mentor on the show, Simon Cowell is still a massive source of support as she’s signed to his Syco label. ‘Every time I need Simon, he’s there. I don’t speak to him all the time but he’s across everything,’ she adds. Most X Factor contestants rush to release an album soon after the show’s final in order to capitalise on their new-found fame, but not Louisa. Despite being the show’s youngest ever winner, she has wisely been taking her time to produce an album she’s totally happy with, releasing four singles and chart-topping collaboration Tears with Clean Bandit along the way. ‘I don’t want to regret my first ever album and I feel like if I’d done it a year ago, I would have,’ she explains. This year hasn’t been without its ups and downs for Louisa, however. In June, she confirmed she’d split up with her boyfriend of a year, Daniel Elliott, despite having recently moved in with him after calling him ‘the one’. Here, Louisa opens up to OK! about Cheryl Tweedy’s return to The X Factor, hitting back at social media trolls and duetting with Eminem…

gETTy IMAgES, InSTAgRAM, SyCo/THAMES/CoRBIS/DyMonD

How has life changed since you won The X Factor, Louisa? Everything has changed. It feels like it’s been forever, but it hasn’t. I can’t remember what life was like before. Now you’re signed to his music label, how much do you have to do with Simon Cowell? Every time I need Simon, he’s there. I don’t speak to him all the time but he’s always across everything. He still gives me feedback.

She’s recently split from her live-in boyfriend, Daniel Elliott

Why have you taken your time to release your debut album? I don’t want to regret my first ever album and if I’d done it a year ago, I would have.

Above: ‘I can’t remember what life was like before,’ says Louisa of winning The X Factor (top left). Left: She’s signed to Simon Cowell’s label and he’s still involved in her career. Below right: Getting spotty for charity

Who are you still in touch with from your series of X Factor? I speak to Seann Miley Moore a bit. He’s so cool. Who are you backing on this year’s show? Kevin [Davy White]. I know exactly what the contestants are feeling, especially the younger girls. I get it a hundred per cent. Are you excited to see Cheryl Tweedy back? Really excited. She looks amazing at the moment and she’s taken her time to come back and I think The X Factor is the perfect place to do it. Are you going to perform on this year’s show? Most probably.

The songstress still chats to fellow X Factor contestant Seann Miley Moore

How do you stay in shape? I never went to the gym until a few weeks ago; I’m quite a naturally slim person but I just wanted to feel healthier. I mostly do weights. Why do you frequently hit back at social media trolls? Trolls never think you’re going to respond so when you do, they get embarrassed and delete their tweets! Hopefully they’ll never do it again. I’m quite a fiery person, but not in an angry way. After your album, what’s next for you? I really want to take my music to America and I’d love to work with Eminem; I’d literally die if I could. Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital’s Get Spotted campaign is now in its fourth year – how did you get involved? I love children so I thought it would be nice to use my profile to give a little back and make them smile. I like helping people who can’t live their everyday lives to the full. OK! fter the credits had rolled at the end of The Hundred-Foot Journey starring Dame Helen Mirren, OK!’s Annabel Zammit decided that she must visit the film’s beautiful setting, Tarn, in the French Midi-Pyrénées. The area is a cinematographer’s dream, with Tarn also enjoying a starring role in Charlotte Gray, starring Cate Blanchett. Situated an hour from Toulouse, Tarn is a stunning unspoilt region in the south-west of France. Steeped in history, the rolling countryside is covered with vineyards, forests and countless fortified hilltop towns and picturesque medieval villages at every turn. A world away from the glitz, glamour and price tag of other parts of southern France, OK! discovered it really is impossible not to fall in love with this secret gem…

only three suites and two deluxe bedrooms, with all rooms individually decorated and packed with antiques. The chateau has four huge living areas, with a tasteful mix of artworks and both vintage and contemporary furnishings. The owners’ attention to detail is impressive and the fresh breakfasts are memorable for their locally-grown, organic produce served in the dining area by the pool and overlooking the vineyard.

Where Can i eat?

In the cobbled square of nearby town Castelnau-de-Montmiral, we had a delicious meal at Le Ménagier. This upmarket eatery is perfect for a special occasion and OK! opted for a succulent steak and finished with a chocolate torte with raspberries that tasted as good as it looked! In the beautiful walled village of Puycelsi, which overlooks the Vère valley, was the Puycelsi Roc Café. Sitting out on the cafe’s verandah, taking in the view with a glass of wine and a salad packed with local meat and cheeses, was simply magnifique! In Gaillac, we recommend you dine at La Table du Sommelier and choose the wine-pairing menu – which was great value at under £35 for three courses.

Where Can i go Wine tasting?

There seemed to be a vineyard on every corner in Tarn. Gaillac wines have been produced in this region since Roman times and we visited a few during our stay, but one of our favourites was Château de Mayragues in Castelnau-deMontmiral, which only produces organic, additive-free wines. We recommend hiring a bicycle and visiting different vineyards while taking in the scenery. Many wineries are also used as concert venues in the evening, so it’s worth checking out what’s on during your stay in Tarn.

Idyllic villages line the banks of the River Tarn, in the French Midi-Pyrénées terracotta-tiled roofs and wooden shutters, all with glorious views of the Midi-Pyrénées. There are many wonderful markets to visit in Tarn. Our favourite was the Sunday food market at the picturesque medieval town of Saint-AntoninNoble-Val, situated on the banks of the Aveyron River, the same town where the market and café scenes in The HundredFoot Journey were filmed. ast week former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher topped the charts with his first solo album, As You Were. The 45-year-old singer, who is almost as famed for his eyebrows and his eight-year spat with brother Noel as he is for his music, is also set to embark on a promotional tour – all while fielding questions about his estranged brother and that elusive musical reunion. Despite their frequent bouts of public animosity, Liam still keeps the tantalising possibility of a reunion alive, recently admitting: ‘I hope we make up. Not just for Oasis but for brothers.’ Adding: ‘I reckon we would have to meet up and hug it out, as they say.’ The youngest of the Gallagher clan, William ‘Liam’ John Paul was born in Manchester in 1972, joining older brothers Noel and Paul as the third son of Irish parents Peggy and Thomas Gallagher. Life in the Gallagher home was far from idyllic. Thomas was a violent alcoholic, and the strain of an abusive upbringing took its toll on his sons. Both Noel and Liam became teenage truants, regularly

in trouble with the police for stealing and fighting. Mum Peggy has said: ‘I think there was that bit of jealously with Liam and Noel. You could tell disagreement was there with them. I was glad they were in a band together.’ It was when Noel returned from roadie duties on an Inspiral Carpets tour that Liam invited him to join his new band, The Rain. Noel agreed on the proviso that he would be sole songwriter and the band name be changed to Oasis. It was a formula that worked, as Creation Record boss Alan McGee soon signed them to a sixalbum deal. Definitely Maybe entered the UK album charts at number one and was the fastest-selling debut in history. For the working class troublemakers, the world was suddenly their oyster and they seized it

Sitting about drinking, looking good, taking drugs, wearing nice clothes, shouting into a microphone with your mates. i’ll do a bit of that.’ at the peak of their britpop reign, Oasis were pushed to break america, but the band’s lead singer was unsure about pandering to the alien customs across the pond: ‘americans want grungy people, stabbing themselves in the head on stage. they get a bright bunch like us, with deodorant on, they just don’t get it.’ in 1997, as their third album Be Here Now became the fastest-selling album in uk chart history, Liam married actress Patsy kensit. but the following year, the headlines outed his affair with singer Lisa moorish, which resulted in the birth of daughter molly. the Oasis rocker refused to

band, insisting that Liam was ‘impossible to work with’. the others stayed together, changing their name to beady eye, while Noel went on to form Noel Gallagher’s High Flying birds. Liam claimed to be unaffected by Noel’s departure, but the singer has recently admitted: ‘it was like a safety blanket, beady eye, so i could kind of ignore the [Oasis] break-up.’ the year before beady eye parted ways, Liam was up to his eyes in more marital strife, after admitting an affair with american journalist Liza Ghorbani, resulting in the birth of his second daughter Gemma. Nicole filed for divorce. the former beady eye frontman said: ‘the stuff that happened was my own doing. S**t happens, and i apologise. i’ve hurt a lot of people, but that’s life. i’m in a good place with my two kids, the divorce is done, and we move on.’

with the demise of his marriage and band, who disbanded the same year as his divorce, the father of four went through a depressing time: ‘you start going: “am i a f***ing hasbeen? is this it?” and you’re sitting there going: “well, maybe it is.”’ He admits to a dark phase of drinking too much and planning an escape from the country: ‘i was waiting for the divorce to kick in, to see what f***ing pennies they’d throw back at me, and then i was out of here. i was gonna go and live in Spain and just chill out, get fit, eat nice, bit of sun on me bones and just f***ing live [sic].’ it was his publicist and now girlfriend debbie Gwyther who saved him, encouraging him to embark on a solo career. ‘She was a breath of fresh air, man. She sorted me right out,’ Liam said, adding: ‘me and her like to do the same things, like having a drink. we like having a laugh.

‘i’ve hurt a lot of people, but that’s life’ i’ve met my match, i’ve met my soulmate. it’s good because the kids love her, the lads love her.’ Now, the rock and roller is in a better place than ever, even taking up running, revealing: ‘i run around seven miles every day, leaving about 5am. unless i’ve been out on the sauce, then i’m getting in at 5am. Normally, though, seven miles.’ albeit a place he said he’d never be – a solo artist. but as the man himself characteristically points out: ‘there’s no rules. WHAT IS IT?

If you’re planning a holiday to Marbella and you’re a fan of TOWIE, then you should pay a visit to Elliott Wright’s restaurant Olivia’s La Cala – your friends will be well jel! Overlooking the golden sand of La Cala Beach, the former TOWIE star – who recently married Sadie Stuart – opened the eatery in 2015, which he named after his eight-year-old daughter, after quitting Essex life for sunny Marbs.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT?

We visited on a Saturday night in early September and it was packed and a lot of fun! The restaurant’s

floor-to-ceiling windows open onto a terrace where you can dine alfresco, with views of the Mediterranean, and the menu is varied and offers modern international cuisine. OK! opted for the Galician fillet beef (£33) with a port and truffle sauce, served with saffron potatoes, and we weren’t disappointed. Our dining companion loved the sushi (from £12.50). Other highlights of the tasty and perfectly presented menu were the salted padron peppers with smoked paprika (£8) and the chargrilled squid with chilli pineapple and mint salsa (£16). The cocktails are worth trying too – our favourite was the Elliott Porn Star Martini (£12.50).

OK! Turns back The clock To chaT abouT Jordan and ‘pop idol’ wiTh Gareth Gates

W

hile Gareth Gates, 33, is currently treading the boards as Willard in Footloose: The Musical, in 2007 he was still a pop star and planning a big comeback with his single Changes. the Bradford-born singer was runner-up on the first series of Pop Idol in 2002, and was reflecting on how much his life was changed since then. ‘to be honest everything just happened so fast that i never really got to appreciate the fans or the screaming girls,’ he told OK! during our exclusive interview. ‘it was just part and parcel of what being a pop star was.’ Gareth is now besotted with his girlfriend of five years, Coronation Street actress Faye Brookes, but back then he was dating dancer suzanne Mole, who went on to become the mother of his daughter Missy, now eight. he also spoke frankly about his affair with katie Price, which happened while he was on Pop Idol. Gareth had previously denied they had a fling. ‘she was a very nice, beautiful girl and for a lad of 17 hooking up with a girl like her, it was like: “Wahey!”’ he

said. ‘i was flattered. i certainly don’t regret my relationship with Jordan, but i regret the way i dealt with it.’ katie Price, then known as Jordan, was upset by his denial. ‘if i had done it differently, the whole story wouldn’t have been blown out of proportion,’ he said. Gareth added: ‘i was young. i wasn’t in love with her. At the time Jordan was portrayed as quite hard, but once you got to know her, she was soft and very funny.’ Gareth admitted that he wasn’t quite as squeaky clean as his Pop Idol image suggested, and had enjoyed going out clubbing with his friends. But he knew he would also stay grounded. ‘i still have a great group of friends and family around me who will make sure i don’t end up like Britney [spears],’ he said. As well as his musical career, Gareth has shown entrepreneurial flair by launching coconut tea company cuppanut. he and Faye also run Fates Academy, a performing arts school. OK!
