James Hurley - Artist Bio James Hurley is an emerging contemporary visual artist, who seamlessly blends digital art and photography in Photoshop to explore and visualise the profound realms of human emotion and transformation. With a background in both digital art and photography (all self-taught), James brings a unique perspective to his craft. His digital creations burst with vibrant colours, intricate details and thought-provoking emotions. James's artistic journey is deeply rooted in personal experiences and emotions. He has created artwork and taken photographs since the age of 14 and is currently 57. Over the last 6 years his work has taken on more meaning and delves into the complexities of human relationships, personal growth, and the pursuit of authenticity amidst societal pressures. Each piece tells a compelling story, inviting viewers to explore their own emotions and connections.

James’s work has been recognised in online gallery’s such as “Light Space and Time” where he reached 2nd place in a photography and digital images exhibition themed Botanicals with multiple other placements between 2018 and 2022. More recently being awarded 2nd place in the D31 Gallery, Doncaster UK, open (2021). After these achievements James stopped entering competitions to focus on further developing his own style and the underlying reasons for creating digital art. He has now reached a point where he is comfortable to start showing his work again as he has found his voice and own story within his artwork.

"Unreasonable Expectations" I'm not a creative writer or poet, I'm a digital artist and photographer, as such I have embraced new tools and technology to help me describe my artwork. The following "poem" was created with the help of artificial Intelligence. In this case I created a fairly comprehensive document that describes my art business, my values, my ideal customers along with how I create art and why, I then used this to "train" and AI on my business and writing style and provided it with my artists notes that relate to this artwork

THE STORY AS A POEM
Control, manipulation, a dance we join,
In a world where chains of want entwine,
We ignore these threads that silently twist,
Where expectations weigh like anchors, confine,
But strangers' pull the strings, and friends' commands, persist.
Have you felt their pull, their grip, their might,
Tugging you from your dreams into the night? "Give more," they whisper, "Sacrifice your own,"
In everyday moments, a truth to coin,
Employers, banks, governments too, Wield manipulation, financial voodoo, Even we, in pursuit of our aim, Shape our words to play life's game.
A demand that chills you to the bone,
But when did this manipulation ascend
Struggle to break free, a relentless fight,
To the norm and silently accepted?
Against the weight of others' desires so tight.
When did your expectations become secondary to others'
Threats masked as wishes, control in disguise, A symphony of demands that seek to chastise, From simple requests to coercion's cruel reign,
When did it become neccesary to sacrfice our inner peace, stop following our dreams and simply comply? "Unreasonable Expectations," artwork named, Frames this struggle, this societal game,
