Msukaligwa Council appoints new Municipal Manager
Msukaligwa Local Municipality’s Council appointed Mr. Maqhawe KuneneastheMunicipal Manager at the Special Council meeting held on August 12, 2022 According to the municipality, the appointment is in terms of section 54A of the Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000 as amended, on a five year fixed term contract of employment which is performance based, after punctilious selection processes by the municipality. Pastors call for revival of street committees to combat crime

According to Pastors, the MEC's call for churches to work together to fight crime was prophesied recently, and they are fully supporting the MEC because they know that this is God's plan. They said two Pastors were robbed recently, therefore, crime was also affecting them and theircongregants “They have further called for the establishment and revival of street committees to assist in the fight against crime. They have urged municipalities to ensure also bi laws specifically to prevent and fight crime with people specifically employed to do so They went on to complain that most crimes are committed when there is loadshedding.Theyhave in this regard pleaded for assistance from the municipality,” the Department said A concern was raisedover the issue of unoccupied stands and houses in Msukaligwa. Pastors said that those unoccupied stands and houses were used by criminals as nests to hide or to commit a crime
On Friday, 27 August 2022, the MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Vusi Shongwe met with pastors from different denominations in and around Ermelo. The purpose of the meeting wastolobbychurchesto join hands in the fight against crime and the gangsters that are terrorising the communities of Msukaligwa During the meeting, Pastors committed to working with the MEC to clean up their communities
The meeting was also attended by the Msukaligwa Executive Mayor Councillor Shirley Nkosi, the Speaker and councillors.
