High School Credit Whether you are upgrading your marks, completing prerequisites for your next level of education or looking to free up your timetable, Metro Continuing Education offers a variety of options year-round for high school credit courses.

Program Options include: In Class Programs:

Summer School:

• Evening Classes (Monday / Wednesday or Tuesday / Thursday) and Saturday Classes offered in Fall and Winter.

Fast Track Program:

• Complete a 3, 5 or 6 credit course in less than four weeks during the summer at one of Metro’s many partner locations around Edmonton.

Self-Directed Learning:

• Complete a 5-credit course in eight weeks by attending class two evenings and Saturday every week (offered in Fall and Winter).

• For students 20 years of age and older, Self-Directed Learning gives you the ability to set your own pace and work independently through the materials.

Brain Booster Diploma Exam Prep Let Metro help you prepare for your diploma exams! Review major topics, write sample exams and learn exam writing strategies. Sessions are offered in January, June and July. See page 4 for additional details.

Academic Success Series Metro’s Academic Success Series courses help students develop the performance skills needed for reaching their educational and future goals. Topics include: • Study Skills • Exam Writing Strategies

Important Dates

Summer School With Metro Continuing Education’s Summer School, you can complete a 5-credit high school course in four weeks! Choose from a variety of 10-, 20- and 30- level subjects to complete required courses, upgrade your marks or create more flexibility in next year’s timetable. Summer School courses are also open to students who need to complete their high school courses for post-secondary pursuits. See p. 2-3 for course options.

If you are a current or prospective student at one of our partnership schools, (see following page) we encourage you to take your summer school course(s) at your school or the corresponding host site listed on page 2. Please see the following pages for location and course information.

** Withdrawals: If you withdraw before your class begins your $30 registration fee will be withheld. If you complete a withdrawal form after the starting date of class, but before the start of the 4th class, you will be refunded 50 percent of your tuition fees. The $30 registration fee and $30 material fee will be withheld. No refunds will be issued after the 4th class. The $100 textbook deposit, if applicable, will be refunded upon return of books.

Cancellations Metro reserves the right to cancel any class. All efforts will be made to accommodate the student at another site. If Metro cancels a class, a full refund will be issued. Refunds take up to four weeks for processing through Edmonton Public Schools Financial Services.

Course Load One 5-credit course or two 3-credit courses is a maximum load for summer learning. For classroom-based courses full attendance is required and is essential for success.

Attendance For classroom-based courses, students must attend all classes. Non-attendance does not constitute a withdrawal. A final mark will not appear on transcripts of students who withdraw on or before the 4th class.
