Featuring Our New Secondary Campus Serving Grades 7-12th!

Located in the former Santa Fe College Spring Arts building, Laniakea Montessori School now offers an authentic Montessori Secondary program that consists of experiences both in the classroom and outside that support students in developing greater self-awareness and engagement with a complex world. The program also provides a wide range of experiential learning opportunities interwoven throughout the curriculum to respond to the developmental needs of adolescents, including orientation trips, internships, academic immersion, service work & volunteer hours, and local, national, and international research trips. Classes are IB format! We offer mentoring for craftsman & trades.
above all it is the education of adolescents that is important, because adolescence is the time when the child enters the state of adulthood and becomes a member of society.” - Dr. Maria Montessori Visit our website to review the enrollment process. 352.256.9220 | laniakeamontessori.com
“But,

Investing In -

Investment by definition is the act of devoting time, effort, energy, or finances to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result. We can invest in and support a lot of things such as the robust arts and entertainment that our community offers.  We can invest in our community by supporting our many local businesses, our non-profits, and our civic organizations. We can also invest in our relationships, our home, our finances, and our health, all with the hope and assumption that the effort will have a positive impact.

In this issue, we cover several different ways to invest.  Investing in fun ways such as in the arts in our community.  Investing in our finances which helps create wealth, meets long-term financial goals and secures our retirement. Investing in our health, self-care, and even in our physical appearance - is proactive and enhances our overall well-being and self-confidence.  Real estate purchases and home improvement projects can also be wonderful investments and they tend to make us feel so much better about our favorite place – our home.

I personally try to embrace all these different facets of investing, and hope you find some helpful nuggets of information here to help with all the different things and aspects of ourselves and our lives, that we can invest in.

While investing in ourselves, relationships, community and finances can look very different from person to person, the effort we put into these areas of our lives are done with the common goal of having a positive impact that yields results. In this issue, we wanted to share (from some local experts and business owners), about some of the very different ways that we can invest and all the positive outcomes that investing will yield.

We hope you have some great takeaways that are helpful for you.  And see yaround town!

Investing in where your personal power lies: Anisa Perbtani

“The habit of showing up, sitting with yourself, and allowing the moment to be just the way it is, authorizes a new way of being. It takes so little time to shift out of the frame of striving, and into contentment. You return to your deep knowing - and that’s where your personal power lies.” Anisa Perbtani:

Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida Visiting Chef Program

The Visiting Chef program is a wildly popular volunteer program for groups of up to eight friends, family members, or co-workers. No professional cooking experience is required, and folks have lots of fun. Volunteers provide all the ingredients to make a home-cooked meal, or you may cater in from a restaurant for our families (approximately 80 servings). Volunteers will need to arrive in time to prepare their meals following our meal times. (352) 374-4404.

Comedy at the Hippodrome Theatre: White

In James Ijames' comedy White, artists Gus and Vanessa craft an audacious persona to infiltrate a museum's exhibition on diverse voices. This contemporary tale humorously challenges expectations and prompts reflection on today's culture. Don't miss the playful and prescient exploration at www.thehipp.org from March 29 to April 14.

What Does “Investing” Mean to You?

“We meet you where you are and take you to where you want to be.” Get Dirty, Work Hard, See Results. Fitness Driven Results.

FDR: Fitness Driven Results

Investing in yourself through exercise is a multifaceted investment that yields numerous physical, mental, and social benefits. It is a proactive step toward leading a happier and healthier lifestyle. Multiple studies have shown that exercise benefits you mentally and physically, but it can also help your pocketbook as you get older.

Preventative Health: Regular exercise can reduce the risks of developing various chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and others.

Reduced Medical Expenses: Exercise contributes to overall better health, which may lead to fewer doctor visits, hospital stays, and prescription medications.

Lower Insurance Premiums: Check to see if your insurance company offers discounts to policyholders who exercise regularly. Also, inquire whether your employer offers programs that will cover a percentage of gym or exercise memberships.

Increased Productivity: Regular exercise has been shown to improve cognitive function, concentration, and overall productivity.

Overall, while there may be upfront costs associated with fitness memberships the long-term savings on healthcare expenses far outweigh these initial expenditures. By adopting a consistent exercise routine, you not only improve your quality of life but also safeguard your financial well-being.

Fitness Driven Results’ programs are designed with this in mind, by teaching and maintaining correct form during exercise, managing proper intensity levels, changing its program every 6 to 12 weeks, and by creating a safe and fun place to exercise for all fitness levels.

The Home Place:

What is your investment level?

Homeownership is a major part of the American Dream.  Once you decide to invest in a house, your next decision is to choose an investment level that will enhance your life and turn your house into a home.

Whether you build or purchase an existing home, you are acquiring an appreciable asset.  Your home will be your safe, healthy, happy place where you will live your best life.  Higher quality and timeless design are much better long-term investments.  Consider better quality cabinetry, tile, and flooring as part of your investment that will last.

Make your home interior an investment in you.  Your living and dining areas are places to relax and enjoy with family and friends. Surround yourself with things you love.  Incorporate special items and family heirlooms into your home décor.  Choose quality pieces of furniture that will serve you well.  Consider some items as investment pieces that can be passed down.  Excellent, high-quality hand-knotted area rugs are a good choice.  They will enhance your surroundings and become heirlooms.

Your bedrooms should reflect you and be conducive to relaxation and quality sleep. You will spend a lot of time here, so make it special! Remember your kitchen is a gathering place and the heart of your home.  High quality cabinetry, beautiful tile and countertops enhance your investment and hold up well over time. Make your bathrooms an oasis where you can relax and melt away stress.  Make them functional, comfortable, and timeless.  Quality tile, fixtures, cabinets, and flooring are key. Quality lighting is important in all areas of your home. Be sure you have enough and the right kind.

Your home is an investment in you!

Club Synergie: Beauty Beyond Trends

“If I invest in myself, what does that look like?”

"Should I get Botox, filler?" In a world where Instagram filters reign supreme and TikTok trends dictate our beauty ideals, the pressure to measure up can feel insurmountable. But fear not, fellow beauty enthusiasts, we are here to explore what your needs are.

Yes, studies have shown the existence of "pretty privilege," is measurable, and meeting societal beauty standards can open doors to higher-paying jobs and smoother social interactions. While society rewards adherence to these standards, it also can stigmatize those who invest in their appearance.

Can I talk to an industry insider without someone trying to sell me a mud mask or a facelift? Here are the top two questions we ask in the esthetic checklist we offer for free on our website clubsynergie.com .

1. How do I want to be perceived, and what about my appearance do I want to change to fit into others' perceptions?

2. Are these changes because of the newest beauty fads, or do they represent a long-term desire?

The aim here is to help individuals seeking esthetic work thoroughly evaluate their motivations before making a decision. Like any INVESTMENT, you need to pause. Consult with a qualified esthetic provider and have an open conversation with those who have had these procedures done about their experience.

As an esthetician and owner of Club Synergie, Natural Skin and Body Spa, I've witnessed firsthand the tumultuous journey of beauty standards and mishaps. Yet, amidst the chaos, one truth remains: investing in oneself is never out of style.

“To amplify the impact of this practice, consider placing a sticky note on your bathroom mirror with the word "Gratitude” written on it. This visual cue serves as a reminder to prioritize thankfulness during your daily routine.” Meg Dennis: Integrated Wellness Specialist @themegthing

The Gratitude Investment: Maximizing Returns on Everyday Happiness

In today's hustle and bustle, finding time for gratitude may seem like an indulgence, but it's actually one of the best investments we can make for our well-being. Research consistently shows that practicing gratitude leads to greater happiness and overall life satisfaction.

Here's a simple yet powerful way to incorporate gratitude into your daily routine: twice a day, while brushing your teeth, take a moment to reflect on three things you're grateful for. These can be big or small, from a delicious meal to a cherished friendship.

By investing in gratitude, we're investing in our own happiness and fulfillment. The returns on this investment are immense, leading to a more positive outlook, improved relationships, and greater resilience in the face of life's challenges. So let's make gratitude a priority and reap the rewards of a more joyful and fulfilling life.

I genuinely believe the best investment you can make is in yourself. There are many facets of this which, I believe, are important; being mindful of what you put into your body and creating a financially secure future for yourself top the chart for me but, I’ll leave the details of those for someone who is an expert in those areas and share with you the other investment I believe in and, what my expertise is in, permanent makeup.

This investment in your beauty is not just about looking good—it’s about feeling confident, saving time and money, and enjoying a hassle-free, beautiful appearance every day.  The ability to customize services ensures we enhance your natural beauty in a way that looks seamless and authentic. From microblading for fuller, more defined eyebrows to lip blushing for a lasting hint of color; by offering a practical solution to daily makeup application, permanent makeup is a smart choice for anyone looking to simplify their beauty routine while saving time and money. Investing in yourself is worth every penny, prioritize yourself and let your inner glow shine.

Azena Health & Longevity

As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure. It’s like an investment. The costs of treating preventable illnesses continue to be “staggeringly high,” estimated to be over $700 billion annually in the USA alone. 1 High body mass index, high blood pressure, and diabetes account for most preventable illnesses. 1 in 4 people die from a preventable disease. A high proportion of illness and death is preventable; yet, we don’t do a particularly good job of investing in prevention. The challenge we face is “nurturing investment in avoiding poor health, rather than in treatment that gratifies those who are cured.” 2 However, as that statement implies, an effective treatment may come too late—if at all. We cannot keep rolling the dice hoping that science will cure everything that ails us.

From an individual standpoint, outof-pocket spending grew 6.6% to $471.4 billion in 2022 alone, 3 in addition to the costs for health care coverage. Not surprisingly, individual spending varies widely by age group. On average, persons 65 and older spent “$22,356 in 2020, over 5 times higher than spending per child ($4,217) and almost 2.5 times the spending per working-age person ($9,154).” 4 As we age, the more health problems we confront. Like a vehicle, eventually, parts will fail due to wear and tear. But we cannot simply trade ourselves in for a newer model. And just because you are a younger model, don’t think you will be able to keep handing these costs off to your employer. In 2022, the average annual premiums for

employer-sponsored coverage were $7,911 for single coverage and $22,463 for family coverage – and rising annually. These trends are simply unsustainable.

We must change our focus from treatment to prevention. We are all different genetically, which makes effective prevention complex. As we healthcare professionals have learned, but some are loathe to admit, one size does not fit all and there is no silver bullet. A healthy, vibrant lifestyle requires more than just exercise and a daily array of pharmaceuticals. We all need and deserve a more comprehensive, individualized, targeted approach to prevention and wellness. Does spending $1 (an ounce) on disease prevention save $16 (16 ounces per pound) of cure? None of us truly knows. Some experts argue the average return is between $4-10. That’s not a bad investment, as one could easily argue that your prevention spend could generate lifelong dividends. So don’t wait or delay. Increase your returns, and invest in your future health today.

EMBRACING A PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUR BODY

Wellness isn’t about restricting — it’s really about giving. Giving to yourself and to your body in a way that allows them both to thrive. The cool part? The things that give to your body naturally give to your mind, your hormones, your earth, your relationships, and so on — it’s all beautifully interconnected in that way.

Eat your greens, cook at home, choose local produce and quality meats, don’t be scared of healthy fats — but also support local farmers, move in a way that makes your body and mind feel good, prioritize times of mindfulness and stillness.

INGREDIENTS:

• 2 6 oz. filets of wild caught salmon

• 1 Tbsp. avocado oil

• 1 Tbsp. coconut aminos

• Zest and juice from one lemon

• 1 Tbsp. stone ground mustard

• 1 4 oz. container coconut yogurt, unsweetened

• 2 Tbsp. fresh dill, minced

• 2 Tbsp. capers, drained and minced

• Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

DIRECTIONS:

1. Marinate the salmon in the lemon juice, coconut aminos, and stone ground mustard for up to two hours.

2. Drizzle salmon with avocado oil, sprinkle with salt and ground pepper, and broil on high for five to seven minutes, until cooked to desired temperature.

3. Mix coconut cream, lemon zest, dill, capers, and ground pepper together.

4. Top salmon with coconut cream, serve with roasted or sautéed veggies, brown or cauliflower rice, or fresh greens. Enjoy!

Investing for love, Not Wealth

A DIVINE CLOSET

There are many ways to invest, but for us, investing transcends mere monetary considerations; it’s about crafting a refuge that embodies comfort, practicality, individual flair, and ultimately love. This could mean focusing efforts and resources on enhancing the areas we live, making sure these spaces not only fulfill but surpass our everyday needs. It is about selecting upgrades that not only add value financially, but elevate your living experience.

Consider home enhancements such as closet upgrades or remodeling projects. The effect of such improvements goes beyond increasing home equity – it’s about a thoughtful

redesign of how your space is utilized and perceived. The real value in these investments is their capacity to foster a sense of daily contentment and joy. An efficiently redesigned space can streamline your routine, alleviate stress, and add a touch of delight!

Investing back into your home, no matter how small, contributes to creating an environment that resonates with your personal tastes, making every moment spent there more enjoyable. Nurturing and building your own sanctuary which reflects and supports your ideal way of living is something that is truly priceless! www.adivinecloset.com/
