Home Remodeling 101 Planning on a remodeling project or dreaming about a new kitchen, but don’t know which way to turn? This class is for you! Learn what comes first (second and third) and how to establish a project budget, specifications, bid procurement and contractor hiring. Basic house construction and remodeling do’s and don’ts will be covered. The second session will include cabinet choices, kitchen and bathroom planning, style and installation. PETER MARX Peter has been self-employed in residential remodeling and custom solid surface fabrication for over three decades. He has always e n j o y e d t h e cha ll e n ge s t ha t t h e y b r i ng a n d t h e achievements that he has gained. He was the first certified and accredited Corian fabricator in the Northwest by DuPont in 1979, followed shortly by additional certifications with other major solid surface manufacturers. Peter’s teaching style reflects his ideal of sharing what he has learned over the years, by engaging the class with demos, examples and hands-on learning. In 2015 Peter was the recipient of “The Best Instructor Award” (presented by North Seattle College Continuing Education). With 20 years of experience, he is an instructor who consistently sets the standard for a safe and professional approach to his classes. A summer quarter student In Basic Woodworking commented, “I have always been nervous about using electric saws but this class helped me gain confidence. Peter is a great instructor and I look forward to taking more classes from him.”

Wine 101 Go beyond “red or white?” and learn about the history of wine, the basics of wine chemistry, wine making, how to taste and evaluate wine and how to pair wine with food. We’ll also cover how to store wine and decide when it’s ready to drink. You’ll sample wines from around the world to help you most fully appreciate the subject. Students must be 21 or older; picture ID required. A $20 materials fee is due to the instructor in class. Make Your Own Cocktail Bitters Make tasty, balanced cocktails with hand-crafted bitters, a musthave for your home bar. You’ll learn how to create a basic bitters base, experimenting with different infusions of aromatic plant extracts for custom flavors. The class includes everything you’ll need to create two 4-oz. bottles of bitters, including the base spirit, a variety of bittering and flavoring agents and reusable infusion jars and dispensing bottles to take home. A $20 materials fee is due to the instructor in class.
