Kudos

Jacob Webster, Josh Passfield - #2 Mission

I work the service counter at Symon’s Tire on Saturdays and would like to advise that Jacob and Josh have been doing a fantastic job. They have been really great at communicating with me and giving me other options if they didn’t have said part in stock. They have really made our busy Saturday’s a lot easier to deal with. Keep up the good job!

-Liam at Symon’s Tire

Connor Park - #6 Port Coquitlam

Called looking for a part for my vehicle and spoke with a nice gentleman by the name of Connor. Very professional and very helpful gave me options, choices and helped me decide the best route in the end for my vehicle. Thanks definitely coming back

Trevor Hughes - #48 Penticton

Just had a really good experience at lordco, Trevor took his time helping and explaining and help give is best options for our vehicle. He was super friendly and went above and beyond, the 3 girls at the front are always so kind friendly and helpful. Excellent job everyone

Tyrone Demsey - #73 Kamloops

I had a flat tire yesterday morning, went into the shop to see if maybe someone would help put on my spare. Tyrone graciously offered to come and assist me and gave me some advice about what to do with the flat. Very kind and knowledgeable, thank you so much for your help! Definitely recommend Lordco for all your car needs

Anna Saprunoff- #39 West Kelowna

Anna has the best attitude, she is a pleasure to deal with. She always finds the products that I need for my company. She’ll greatly you with a smile and a great attitude.

Jayvee Balbin - #24 North Vancouver

I want to let you know that I received exceptionally good service from one of your employees at the store at 1334 & 1336 Main St, North Vancouver this afternoon (Saturday, February 18). I don't know the gentleman's name. My receipt says the cashier was "5525", so hopefully that will identify him. This gentleman was very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. He was very busy serving multiple customers and kept smiling through it all. He solved my problem that several other stores on the North Shore could not. I will certainly return to your store again and recommend you to others. Please let 5525 know that his good service was much appreciated.

Alfred Dick - #44 Nanaimo

Just a quick note to tell you that Alfred Dick, a customer service representative in your Nanaimo store went above and beyond to help me out. After an hour or so, once we found that Lordco didn't carry the (Smart car) part, he called Mercedes and arranged for me to pick up the parts there. He is the reason I will be a longtime customer for the future. He's an allstar when it comes to helping this 77 year old guy.

Liver Health Month

What Does Your Liver Do for You?

Your liver works hard to keep you healthy every day! Your liver regulates energy levels and eliminates toxic substances. Your liver also assists with digestive function and even produces substances you need to thrive! Your liver is responsible for manufacturing many essential body proteins, fighting off infections, and regulating hormones. The liver is resilient and maintenance-free, which is why it is so important to keep it healthy! Unfortunately, because of its versatility and wide range of responsibilities, the liver is often under attack by progressive diseases such as obesity, viruses, toxic substances, and contaminants, some leading to liver disease.

What Is Liver Disease?

There are over 100 liver diseases which can be caused by a variety of factors. Some of these include alcohol use, genetics, autoimmune disorders, drug use, obesity, hepatitis viruses and cancer. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common liver disease in Canada. This disease begins when fat cells build up in the liver, making it more vulnerable to injury. Liver cancer is also one of the fastest rising and deadliest forms of cancer in Canada. Fortunately, many liver diseases can be treated or even reversed!

What Can You Do for Your Liver?

Good news! A few lifestyle changes can significantly decrease your risk of liver disease! Eating fresh fruits and vegetables and foods low in sugar and saturated fat are a great way to help your liver! Getting 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day can also make a tremendous impact on your liver and overall health.

What Are the Warning Signs?

Signs of liver disease include flu-like symptoms, fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and more. If you notice any of these signs, be sure to consult with your doctor!

What Can You Do to Support Those with Liver Disease?

You can volunteer for fundraisers hosted by the Canadian Liver Foundation, refer those with liver disease to the Canadian Liver Foundation support line for resources and peer support networks, or donate at liver.ca. No matter how you choose to help, you will have a huge impact on those living with liver disease!

7 MARCH 2023 | Issue 261 HEALTH & WELLNESS CORNER MARCH AWARENESS

OHS is shining the light on store the 100 Mile team and HD truck driver Scott Thompson …..

On a couple occasions, when incoming or outgoing freight was staged at the store, the emergency exit would end up blocked. The store employees all knew this was not complaint and unsafe. So, they decided to do something about it. They enlisted the help of their counter person Kimberly Larson to paint a section of the shipping bay floor red. This new mark created an easy visual, designating a clear pathway to the exit and a rule for where freight couldn’t sit They even put sand in paint to provide better traction. Store Manager Jenna, then reached out to HD truck driver Scott Thompson to explain the expectations. The very next day, the freight looked great, and the exit was clear.

100 Mile could have continued to just write this down in their meeting minutes and wage a battle with the fleet driver, but instead they formulated a simple plan and communicated the plan to everyone, resulting in happier staff and a safer workplace.

OHS is happy to recognize the 100 Mile team.

Learning from our past.

You’ve heard the phrase hindsight is 20/20…... well, that is often the case in the world of safety. Those that have had incidents and suffered an injury are the first to wish they had taken different steps and made safer choices. Below is a story from an actual Lordco employee. Our hope, is that their story will help you learn from their mistakes.

“I was picking Monroe shocks that were on the top shelf and was in a hurry, because I was the shipper, and my store was very busy. Instead of taking a second to grab a ladder, I climbed 3 shelves to reach the top. The shelf I was standing on collapsed and caused a domino effect, taking down the whole aisle. Spilled shocks and shelving everywhere. Luckily, I wasn’t injured badly, but the mess and time it took to clean up could have been avoided completely if I had of taken the few seconds to grab a step ladder and safely get the part.
