About Tanoto Foundation Tanoto Foundation is an independent philanthropic organization founded by Sukanto Tanoto and Tinah Bingei Tanoto based on the belief that every person should have the opportunity to realize his or her full potential. Tanoto Foundation started its work in 1981 when their founders established a kindergarten and elementary school in Besitang, North Sumatra. Tanoto Foundation’s programs stem from the belief that quality education accelerates equal opportunity, and harness the transformative strength of education to realize people’s full potential and improve lives.

About the Role Tanoto Foundation (TF) has grown in term of activities, grant size and the number of staff internationally in the last five years. The growth follows the new TF Strategy to expand in Indonesia, Singapore, China and Brazil. The position is to support the CEO in leading TF international team to the next level of impact, managing day to day operations and resources, and potentially to take the CEO position within 6 to 12 months.

Responsibilities Organization and People Management • Build the global TF organization to cover the capability of delivering the designed and committed programs. • Develop team members especially TF Country Head for the desired capacity. • Develop and maintain succession plan for TF.

• Involve a network of experts in designing programs to ensure relevance and alignment with the audience of the programs.

• Build a program execution plan for each of the global TF within the portfolio.

Candidate Profile Education / Experience • Master’s degree in the related fields. Doctoral Degree is a plus. • 20 years’ experience in in the development world general management, in national and international organizations. • Experience in large foundations / non-profits organization/philanthropy is necessary. • Candidates from South and South East Asia are particularly encouraged to apply.

Specific knowledge and aptitude • Fluent oral and written English. Fluent oral and written Chinese and/or Bahasa Indonesia and other foreign language will be a plus. • Experience in the international education field as well as philanthropy – at least to have a real interest that can be demonstrated. • Creative, positive and proactive, can-do attitude, cooperative to others (teamwork). • Problem solver with service attitude, willing to adapt for internal and external stakeholders’ needs. • Candidates from the operational countries are a plus.
