THE ROLE

ROLE: Interim Deputy Country Director, WWF Cambodia

DURATION: 3 - 6 months

STARTING DATE: Latest 1 May 2024

REPORTS TO: COO, Asia Pacific, WWF International

SUPERVISES: Conservation Director, Head of Finance, Admin/IT, Head of P&C, Head of Communication & Knowledge Management

BACKGROUND OF THE ASSIGNMENT

WWF is recruiting – through Oxford HR – for its next CD. As it takes longer than expected to find and place this CD, WWF have asked Oxford HR to search for an interim Deputy Country Director to replace the COO, WWF Asia Pacific who has taken on the CD Cambodia role ad interim after the former CD stepped down, since November 2023.

While the COO, WWF Asia Pacific will continue to maintain the external relationships, the Deputy CD will take on all other responsibilities and tasks.

PRIORITIES

Lead the strategic planning, and institutional development of the WWF Cambodia Country Office:

• Finalize the Annual Plan and Budget 2025, including fundraising.

• Lead and provide overall direction in adapting the current strategy towards 2030 goals.

• Ensure that the WWF Cambodia Country Office has a solid financial sustainability strategy.

Support and lead the country team: 76 persons based in 1 capital and 2 field offices.

Lead the day-to-day running and ensure cohesion of the Country Offices and Programmes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experienced interim leader with professional experience as a Country Director in Cambodia or Asia Pacific, with demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary teams.

• Proven track record in successfully developing, leading, and managing largescale programmes and/or institutions in the field of conservation, natural resource management, international development, and/or other related fields

• Experience with conservation INGOs will be an advantage

• Superior oral and written communication skills in English.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

• Demonstrated strong leadership and capability in developing, implementing and evaluating strategic plans

• Empowering leadership style in developing a strong senior management and operations teams to enhance programme delivery, quality assurance, operational efficiency and risk management

• Identifies with the values of WWF: courage, integrity, respect and collaboration

• Demonstrates WWF behaviours in ways of working: strive for impact, listen deeply, collaborate openly and innovate fearlessly

• Adheres to WWF’s brand characteristics: knowledgeable, optimistic, determined and engaging.

• Entrepreneurial leadership skill with demonstrable success in mobilizing funding and technical resources for national and sub-regional conservation programmes.
