Reporting to: Vice President – Women’s Empowerment, Social and Economic Empowerment practice

Job Summary We are looking to recruit an Associate Director or Associate Vice President (AD/ AVP), who will co-lead the management and expansion of exciting work on Women’s Empowerment in Social and Economic Empowerment practice at IPE Global. The AD/ AVP will anchor a range of policy-related issues, strategy development, and people management and work closely with relevant external and internal stakeholders. S/he will ensure effective and efficient implementation of the portfolio’s projects from early business development and proposal writing to implementation and closing down.

The Women’s Empowerment team has substantial experience delivering multi-year and high-impact programs. These programs are supported by leading donors and foundations and are implemented in partnership with coveted research institutions, civil society organisations, and public institutions. The AD/ AVP will work with and mentor a team of high-performing development professionals with expertise in political economy analysis, social and behaviour change, technology for development, gender and social inclusion, public health, and program management.


Responsibilities Business Development (60%) • Identifying new business opportunities within India and outside, developing leads and contacting potential donors, devising business development strategies, and implementing them. • Undertaking outreach activities, keeping up to date with trends within the sector, making sure targets are met periodically, and generating reports and presenting an analysis of business development progress. • Read and analyse solicitation, proposal documents, and develop proposals. • Draft accurate, responsive, compelling text for proposals, including background/context, executive summary, technical approach overview, activity components, and technical annexes. • Collaborate with other team members to improve and streamline the proposal development process • Maintain proposal content library locally including updated capability statements, research papers, past performances, management plans, and other related proposal content

• Coordinate with project implementation teams to ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables. • Provide support or leadership as needed to identify and secure partners, consultants, and full-time staff. • Maintain a collaborative relationship with donor, funder, and/or client counterparts. Support project management activities, including reviewing and submitting project reports to donors, developing budgets and work plans, and backstop operations as needed.

Thought Leadership (15%) • Participate in appropriate professional organisations and networks and stay current on significant themes in the profession. • Collaborate with Corporate Communications to identify strategic industry outlets and opportunities for presenting and sharing portfolio work and results. • Develop thought leadership content such as evidence papers, policy notes, expert blog posts, research publications, and media articles.

Portfolio Management (25%) • Provide guidance, technical leadership, and support to field projects, including project implementation strategy, work planning, mentoring of team members, and inputs to monitoring and evaluation.

Candidate Profile Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • A master’s degree in international development, gender studies, sociology, economics, or other relevant fields is a must. • About 10+ years of relevant experience. • Able to work independently and in a team setting. • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a commitment to mentoring and team development. • Demonstrable team management experience and an ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, both verbally and in writing. • Project management expertise, including the management of large project teams. • Proven experience of working with Governments and international aid agencies.
