Antarctica is the last frontier. A place unlike anywhere else on earth. So far, so peaceful, with a thriving ecosystem. Photographer, Sarah Hatton takes us on a journey across the vast white wilderness of the world’s last truly wild continent. Antarctica’s surreal remoteness and vast desert wilderness is truly like no other place on earth. Whether you are a scientist, government official, support worker or tourist, everyone who travels there must “earn” their stay on the worlds coldest and most unforgiving continent. The last region in recorded history to be discovered, Antarctica remained unseen until 1820 with the first confirmed landing conducted in 1895. Preserved by the Antarctic Treaty of 1959, the continent is now almost exclusively reserved for research and is home to scientists from over 28 different countries operating both seasonal and year round stations. With an approximate population of 4000 in the summer and 1000 in winter, Antarctica is the most sparsely populated continent in the world. Sarah’s journey took her from Ushuaia, Argentina’s southernmost city; south OPPOSITE PAGE :
into the Drake Passage, arriving on day four in the waterways of the Antarctic Peninsula. Home to some of the most extraordinary species in the world, this northernmost tip of the Antarctic continent has an abundant and diverse eco-system. Gentoo, Adelie and Chinstrap penguin rookeries can be seen on the rocky outcrops of the Gerlache coastline whist Humpback and Mink whales feed on vast shoals of krill around the South Shetland Islands. Sarah’s photography was formed and led by the light and she captures the staggering palette of vibrant luminosity that sets the Antarctic mountains ablaze with colour. Her experience encapsulates the spirit of adventure, sparked in anyone lucky enough to visit this vast magnificent wilderness. Antarctica is truly the last remote, pristine place on earth, long may it remain so.

The Airhole is standard on all of our masks and is designed to allow breath to escape freely, avoiding the build up of condensation to keep you dry, warm and your goggles fog free. Stay out there longer.
Airhole’s signature Velcro design utilizes a softer, easier-to-use logo shaped Velcro which is applied to the masks. This gives great coverage and makes adjustment incredibly easy. The new Velcro allows the hooks only to catch the loops and avoids hair or anything else that may be caught.
All Airhole masks have a minimum UPF of 50 which means they block 98% of harmful UV rays. This helps prevent premature aging and the risk of damage to the wearers skin. Unlike many sunblock products, Airhole Facemasks block both UVA and UVB radiation.
Airhole uses yarn in several styles that has been made from recycled PET plastic bottles that are chipped, melted and extruded into a fine polyester yarn. This reduces the impact on the environment without sacrificing performance or quality.
Grid fleece, fine yarn polyesters, and merino fibres are all part of our heat management program. When the wearer is active, moisture is wicked from the skin, escapes to the surface of the fabric and evaporates.
Hydrophobic yarn is used to eliminate fabric dampness. Moisture is spread across the surface of the fabric where it is quickly air dried.
Many fabrics are treated with water resistant coatings to keep the elements at bay all day long. DWR is a durable fabric coating which gives Airhole masks water repellent properties, preventing the face and outer layer of the fabric from becoming saturated with water.

DRYLITE fabric uses a lightweight perforated quick dry fabric that acts like a second skin. Made from a blend of polyester and lycra, Drylite has incredible moisture wicking properties and a UPF 50 finish for 98% sun protection so you can stay cool, dry and protected in spring conditions or when the sun is shining.
DRYTECH THERMAL FLEECE is a high performance microfibre fabric that wicks moisture and regulates your temperature. Our high density, fine yarn polyester & spandex finish includes a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating to bead water and keep moisture away from your face, making it ideal for all conditions and making it one of our most popular constructions.
WAFFLE FLEECE is a lightweight technical gridded fleece fabric that is moisture wicking and allows air to flow freely to keep you warm and dry. We also apply a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating to bead water and prevent the fabric from becoming damp to keep your face dry. The stretchy design remains comfortable all day, all season long.
MERINO wool is a highly technical, natural fibre that has superior heat managing, moisture wicking and odour preventing properties compared to man-made fibres. Merino is incredibly lightweight which allows us to make our masks smaller and more compact without sacrificing performance in all conditions. We added 5% Spandex to the fabric to increase durability, comfort, and to maintain the shape. Protect yourself naturally with our renewable and biodegradable fabric.
4 WAY STRETCH FLEECE uses a seamless construction that has superior moisture wicking properties and a comfortable, one size fits all stretch design. Favoured by our pro athletes due to its lightweight, form fitting, quick drying design, 4 Way Stretch Fleece is ideal for all conditions from cooler backcountry trips to hot park laps.
POLAR FLEECE is our most popular fabric due to its high performance polyester & spandex construction that performs in all conditions. Polar repels moisture and protects against cold and heat making it ideal for everything from mid winter adventures to spring park laps. We also apply a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating to bead water and prevent the fabric from becoming saturated to keep your face dry and comfortable.
MICROFLEECE is a traditional lightweight, soft fabric that stays warm, even when wet. Because it doesn’t retain water, Microfleece will keep your face warm and cozy in varied conditions. We also apply a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating to bead water as an additional defense against the elements to keep your face dry and comfortable.
10,000mm SOFTSHELL is our most technical fabric construction that is designed to perform in harsher conditions. The fabric combines water repellent, wind resistance and superior comfort. The outer layer prevents icy winds from lowering your temperature and a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating beads water to prevent the fabric from becoming saturated.
Airhole’s 10,000mm HARDSHELL fabric is designed to provide lightweight, durable and waterproof breathable protection in rain or snow. It’s called a “hardshell” because the fabric isn’t very stretchy, has a slightly “crinkly” feel (and sound) to it and is very durable.
DWR INSULATED uses nature’s best insulation, Airhole’s 100% duck down insulation creates high-loft clusters that trap air and body heat. In addition to its ability to efficiently trap heat, down is also incredibly breathable, allowing it to wick unwanted moisture away from your body to evaporate. Because of its supreme warmth-to-weight ratio and incredible compressibility— which makes it very easy to pack—down is considered the crème de la crème of insulators.
Airhole SHERPA is a variant of stretch knit polyester fleece fabric. It has two distinct sides; one has a smooth knit side, and the other side has a texture intended to imitate the look and feel of a real sheep’s fleece. Stay extra cozy and warm in this fabric.
Synthetic Dupont material known as TYVEK is a lightweight and durable barrier renowned for its weather-resistant, anti-contamination and anti-radiation properties.

MONT BLANC Mont Blanc, meaning “White Mountain”, is the highest mountain in the Alps and the highest in Europe west of Russia’s Caucasus peaks. It rises 4,808.7 m (15,777 ft) above sea level and is ranked 11th in the world in topographic prominence. The mountain stands in a range called the Graian Alps, between the regions of Aosta Valley, Italy, and Savoie and Haute-Savoie, France. The location of the summit is on the watershed line between the valleys of Ferret and Veny in Italy and the valleys of Montjoie, and Arve in France.

SKEENA – ERIC JACKSON “The Skeena river in northern BC is arguably the best steelhead fishery in the world. This past winter I had the pleasure of spending an entire winter at Skeena Spey riverside lodge, shooting for my new film “Alignment”. It was the first time I was able to spend an entire winter fishing and snowboarding and was hands down the best winter of my life.”
WHISTLER – RUSTY OCKENDEN “Whistler is the mecca of North American snowboarding for a reason. An active town where you must quickly learn to balance your night time activities with your daytime activities. You have to be able to après with friends late into the night and still be in the gondola line with those friends at 7am for a 50cm pow day. Tucked away nicely in the coastal mountains, there are endless opportunities for splitboarding, snowmobile access, and heli boarding. This is a part of the world where a snowboarder can go for a season and stay for a lifetime.”
BALDFACE – PARKER WHITE “I will say I’ve had some of the best powsurfing days of my life at Baldface. I remember one day having this feeling of being like a praying mantis on a leaf just floating through all of that large old growth, and I wasn’t controlling anything I was just floating and everything was in slow motion and deathly quiet. It was like being in a dream kind of. That’s what I like to think about when I remember Baldface.”
