OKLAHOMA NATIONAL GUARD MUSEUM

(FORMERLY 45TH INFANTRY DIVISION MUSEUM}

Dedicated to the soldiers of the U.S. Army’s 45th Infantry Division, the museum has a massive collection of military vehicles, aircraft and armored calvary pieces and historic weapons. The 45th was a unit of the Oklahoma National Guard that served in WWII and the Korean War. Much of the collection focuses on the unit’s role in securing Hitler’s bunker at the end of WWII.

AMERICAN BANJO MUSEUM

As much an art exhibit as a tribute to the classic bluegrass, folk and Americana instrument, this museum showcases the evolution and artistry of the banjo. Famous musicians are profiled, and rotating exhibitions feature well-known musicians, singer-songwriters and even the art of banjo decoration.

BLESSED STANLEY ROTHER SHRINE

Built to honor and serve as a final resting place for the first U.S.-born priest and martyr ever beatified, the Shrine Church is designed in the Spanish colonial-style, inspired by the church Blessed Stanley served in Guatemala. The museum on site highlights the story of Stanley Rother’s life and mission, featuring artifacts from his life and information about his martyrdom and beatification.

BRICKOPOLIS

The variety of options at Brickopolis Entertainment – a downtown event center and play park – virtually guarantees that every member of the family will have something to do. A sprawling campus right on the Bricktown Canal includes miniature golf, a kid’s climbing wall, laser tag, gemstone mining and an arcade. A pizza buffet is also onsite.

BRICKTOWN WATER TAXI AND CENTENNIAL LAND RUN MONUMENT

As a popular Bricktown attraction for more than 20 years, the water taxi takes visitors down the Bricktown Canal at a leisurely pace, while the guide narrates the history of the canal and surrounding businesses. Along the ride, visitors pass the Land Run Monument and learn some Oklahoma history. Created by Native artist and multiple award winner Paul Moore, the monument is 45 figures depicting participants in the 1889 opening of The Unassigned Lands. Rather than create static poses, Moore imbued his sculptures with energy and emotion.

FACTORY OBSCURA

Part art gallery, part immersive experience, Factory Obscura is a local arts collective focused on awakening wonder. Experience Mix-Tape, a multisensory homage to and modern application of old school mixtapes, those old cassettes that were thematic collections of favorite songs. Enjoy a mixture of visuals, sounds, textures and interactivity.

FIRST AMERICANS MUSEUM

Along the Oklahoma River, the First Americans Museum shares the cultural diversity, history, art and contributions of Oklahoma’s 39 distinct First American Nations. Visitors enjoy immersive family-friendly activities, a full-service restaurant, a museum store highlighting authentic handmade items by premiere First American artists and an outdoor cultural park where the plains, prairies and wetlands converge.

FRONTIER CITY AND HURRICANE HARBOR

Located in West OKC, Hurricane Harbor water park is a great way to beat the summer heat, with pools, a lazy river, water slides, spray cannons and inner tubes – even a family-sized tube. Located in North OKC, Frontier City includes rollercoasters, bumper cars, a kids’ train, mine car ride and a ton of other options for thrill-seekers of all ages.

MUSEUM OF OSTEOLOGY

A museum dedicated to bones. Why not? Explore more than 450 skeletons, as well as a large collection of skulls. A mix of fascinating and hands-on exhibits focus on education and appreciation of the natural world.

MYRIAD BOTANICAL GARDENS

A local favorite, you’ll find the downtown crowd dancing in the gardens, walking dogs, sharing a picnic, listening to free concerts and enjoying the beauty of this 17-acre urban botanical garden. At the center of the Gardens is the Crystal Bridge Conservatory, which houses plant collections, sculptural points of interest, overlook terraces and a waterfall feature.

NATIONAL COWBOY & WESTERN HERITAGE MUSEUM

More than an homage to the cowboy spirit, this wildly popular destination tells the diverse stories of the West with some of the world’s most beautiful Western art, a full-scale town and a room with over a thousand different barbed wires! An outdoor educational experience called Liichokoshkomo’ (Chickasaw for “Let’s Play!”) brings to life Native American and prairie dwellings, a train depot and more. Cowboys from the cinematic landscape share space with those who had their boots on the ground .

OKLAHOMA CITY MUSEUM OF ART

The striking Dale Chihuly piece hanging in the foyer is an indication that there are awe-inspiring discoveries inside the MOA. The museum curates traveling or special exhibits while also housing an impressive permanent collection, including a piece from former President Barack Obama’s portraitist Kehinde Wiley.

OKLAHOMA CITY ZOO

OKC’s innovative approach to zoo design continues to improve the lives of zoo animals and the experience of guests. The newest installment is Expedition Africa, which features a new, state-of-the-art giraffe viewing area and vista spaces for common elands, flamingos, gazelles, honey badgers, meerkats, mongooses, naked mole rats, okapis, ostriches, wildebeests and zebras.

OKLAHOMA CONTEMPORARY

The beautiful Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center certainly displays plenty of art, but the mission of Oklahoma Contemporary has always been multifaceted. Visitors can find free, groundbreaking exhibitions, plus large-scale, public sculptures and installations in Campbell Art Park. OKLAHOMA HALL OF FAME

Located in the historic and classically styled Mid-Continent Life Insurance Building, the Gaylord-Pickens Museum tells the story of Oklahoma by highlighting the stories of great Oklahomans. The museum contains portraits of Hall of Fame inductees, as well as collections of documents that tell their stories. A “Makerspace” encourages hands-on activities, and the entire structure is designed to be an immersive, educational experience.

OKLAHOMA HISTORY CENTER

This 18-acre complex is a well-designed, multisensory historical experience that chronicles the story of Oklahoma via five galleries. The 215,000-square-foot space uses audio, visual and computer-assisted activities to share the history of Oklahoma from a diverse group of perspectives. More than 2,000 artifacts are contained in the center, including Native American and military artifacts, photographs, textiles and machinery.

OKLAHOMA NATIONAL STOCKYARDS

The world’s largest stocker and feeder cattle market is in the Stockyards City district of Oklahoma City. Operating since 1910, the stockyards have been a vital part of local culture and national trade. Cattle auctions take place every Monday and Tuesday and are open to the public.

OKLAHOMA RAILWAY MUSEUM

The ORM has an impressive collection of freight cars, passenger cars, a steam engine, a beautifully reconstructed train depot and four operating locomotives, which pull passengers on the first and third Saturday from April to August. The museum aims to educate the public about the role of trains in the development of Oklahoma and the U.S.

OKLAHOMA STATE CAPITOL

A tour of Oklahoma’s Capitol building is a must for any art or history buff. Visitors can experience the state’s history through more than 100 permanent sculptures, murals and paintings. The building itself is stunning, with Greco-Roman architecture and a beautifully adorned rotunda. Don’t miss the info center and gift store, open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

RED EARTH

Red Earth Art Center offers a cultural experience that is uniquely OKC. Red Earth strives to preserve and promote the traditions, arts and cultures of Native Americans through education. With more than 1,000 unique pieces of art in their own permanent collection and rotation of exhibits spotlighting local, regional and national artists, First American arts are thriving at Red Earth.

REMINGTON PARK RACING CASINO

Experience live horse racing throughout the year with the nation’s top American Quarter Horse season (March – May) and Thoroughbred season (August – December). Remington Park is also open 24/7 for simulcast racing. Plus, as OKC’s only casino, you can enjoy top electronic gaming machines, as well as pub and dining options.

RIVERSPORT

Located in the Boathouse District along the Oklahoma River, Riversport offers a zipline across the river, surfing and snow skiing simulators, standup paddleboards, kayaking, a sky trail, play areas for kids and Riversport Rapids, which features Class II-IV whitewater rafting. Riversport hosts international events, plus regattas and programming year-round. Age restrictions apply.

SCIENCE MUSEUM OKLAHOMA

Science Museum Oklahoma is a staple for kids of all ages. The museum makes science interactive and fun with a theater for demonstrating, an art gallery, and most importantly, hands-on activities that teach kids (and adults) about weather, electromagnetism, optics and just about any scientific topic you can imagine.

SCISSORTAIL PARK

This 70-acre urban oasis extends from the core of downtown to the shore of the Oklahoma River. Lower Scissortail Park is all about recreation, including basketball, soccer, futsal and pickleball courts, as well as a new sports pavilion and 32 acres of open green space. Upper Park includes ornamental gardens and woodlands, a lake and boathouse, playground, outdoor roller rink, an enclosed dog park, interactive fountain, dining options and much more. Programming throughout the year includes free performances and group exercise classes.

ROUTE 66

Oklahoma boasts more than 400 drivable miles of Route 66 – more than any other state – and Oklahoma City serves as a center point along this stretch of famous highway. Don’t miss these points of interest along OKC’s stretch of the Mother Road: Gold Dome Building

DEAD PEOPLE’S STUFF: ARCHITECTURAL ANTIQUES AND DESIGN

WORLD ORGANIZATION OF CHINA PAINTERS

With antiques and architectural pieces sourced from all around the globe, Dead People’s Stuff truly lives up to its name. What makes their store unique is their large inventory of vintage hardware, lighting fixtures, stained glass, doors and architectural pieces you can’t find anywhere else.

While an organizational headquarters in purpose, the facility also contains a stunning collection of painted porcelain from around the world in the Porcelain Art Museum, open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

OVERHOLSER MANSION

PLAZA WALLS

Among the historic homes of Heritage Hills is the Henry and Anna Overholser Mansion. The impressive 11,000-squarefoot Queen Anne manor, complete with an additional 4,000-square-foot. carriage house gives visitors a glimpse into life in the 1900s. Tours are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.

Looking for an Instagram-worthy photo op? Stop by Plaza Walls, a rotating mural project in the Plaza District. Murals are curated by the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate and change annually during the Plaza Walls Mural Expo. This stunning outdoor gallery has been a key contributor to OKC’s crowning of “Best City for Street Art” by USA Today in 2021 and 2022.

THE BOOM This LGBTQIA+ inclusive dinner theatre and nightclub is located in the heart of Oklahoma City’s gayborhood, the 39th St. District. They host a variety of musical and comedy productions, a weekly trivia night and a hilarious Sunday Gospel Brunch.

AMERICAN PIGEON MUSEUM In addition to a collection of live birds, the museum has amassed enough pigeon-related artifacts to curate several

permanent exhibits. Originally dedicated to the noble homing pigeon, the American Pigeon Museum teaches about the bird’s role in the war efforts. Other exhibits include the passenger pigeon timeline and a history of pigeon racing.

LIVE CATTLE AUCTION The Oklahoma National Stockyards host live cattle auctions every week, open to the public. Since its inception in 1910, more than 102 million head of livestock have passed through the iron gates. See real cowboys at work at the World’s Largest Market of Stocker and Feeder Cattle. 1. Oklahoma City has, on average, 235 days of sunshine annually, so you can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation options yearround. Here are a few ways to get out and get active in OKC while never leaving the city. Situated along the Oklahoma River is Riversport Adventures, which includes surfing, standup paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, snow skiing (yes, you read that right), ziplines and the Riversport Rapids. Featuring Class II-IV rafting, kayaking and canoeing, Riversport Rapids accommodates various skill levels, but children must be at least eight years of age to go white water rafting. Surfers of all abilities (42” and taller) can also catch a wave at Surf OKC. And visitors (ages eight and up) can try their skills on the ski simulator. Additionally, bike and running trails along the river are open and free to the public. The Boathouse District trails and river lead directly to the Lake Overholser Boathouse, with even more outdoor activities, like a climbing wall and easy access to Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge, as well as SUP and kayak rentals onsite.

LAKE HEFNER

Sometimes just being close to nature is enough. Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge on the west side of the metro is adjacent to Lake Overholser and features a thousand acres of hiking, fishing, bird watching and exploring. Whitetail deer, beaver, egrets, cormorants and hundreds of species of migratory birds and waterfowl move through Stinchcomb regularly. Lake Hefner has its own boathouse as well, but the water is a little too choppy for SUPs. Kayaking is available, though, as are trails for biking, running, in-line skating or a casual walk

to take in a sunset. While you’re there, take a selfie at the Instaworthy lighthouse on the east side of the lake (make sure to use #SeeOKC). The lake features sailing and kitesurfing, as well as one of the state’s largest public golf courses.

Speaking of golf, OKC boasts five public golf courses with varying degrees of difficulty. They are distributed throughout the city, so finding one near where you’re staying is easy. Lincoln Park has two courses that will challenge you, and Trosper Golf Club is notably the fastest playing course in OKC. If skateboarding or BMX is more your thing, the metro features three skate parks, including Mat Hoffman Action Sports Park, with an 11-foot half pipe, a 10-foot over-vert pocket, a street course and bowl course. Bring your own safety gear; it’s required. For the serious biker or runner, Oklahoma City has a network of 10 interconnected trails that lead to nearly every part of the city, a total of 80 miles of non-motorized trails. MYRIAD GARDENS

Scissortail Park is OKC’s newest urban park. The 36acre Upper Park offers a variety of engaging experiences, including ornamental gardens and woodlands, a 3.7-acre lake with pedal boats, canoes and kayaks, a children’s playground and interactive sprayground, seasonal roller rink, dog park, picnic grove, restaurant, performance stage and great lawn. The Lower Park extends the core of downtown to the shore of the Oklahoma River making the entire park a 70-acre urban oasis. Lower Park’s focus is on athletic events and pickup sports, with a soccer field, sports pavilion, pickleball courts, futsal court and basketball courts.

SCISSORTAIL PARK

The Myriad Gardens, our 17-acre public park in downtown, is home to beautiful plants from all over the world, plus seasonal water features, Mo’s Carousel, mixed media art and outdoor fun for all ages. Year-round programming includes a

wide variety of local and regional musical acts, yoga, Zumba and a wide variety of workshops and tours. Inside the Crystal Bridge Conservatory, which is at the center of the garden, is a reflecting pool, plant collections, terraces and a waterfall feature. Wheeler Park, on the southern bank of the Oklahoma River, is known for its iconic Ferris wheel, but is also a great place to hang out, have a picnic, kick back in a hammock or grab some food from one of the frequent food trucks that show up. Will Rogers Park & Gardens is a year-round favorite for gardeners and horticulturalists alike. Located in one of the city’s oldest parks, the 30-acre garden houses a formal rose garden, conservatory, color garden with seasonal blossoms, arboretum and exhibition center.

If you’re a sports fan, Oklahoma City is the place for you. Between basketball, paddlesports, diamond sports and a handful of other fun teams to follow, there are so many impressive athletes carving out a career in the Modern Frontier.

THE OKC BASEBALL CLUB Triple-A affiliate of the L.A. Dodgers and former home of multiple MLB all-stars celebrate opening day in April. With approximately 70 home games each season, there are plenty of opportunities to catch the team in action at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The OKC Baseball Club hosts a season full of specialty nights, plus group or single ticket packages. The Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark also houses the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame, which honors outstanding Oklahoma athletes.

OKC THUNDER BASKETBALL

USA SOFTBALL

Oklahoma City’s passionate commitment to the Thunder is well publicized. Since their inaugural 2008-09 season, the team has made the playoffs regularly, produced multiple MVP award winners and brought NBA Championship games to the Modern Frontier. The Thunder play at the Paycom Center, located in the heart of downtown, where Thunder gear is readily available in the team shop pre-game, as well as Monday through Saturday. Known as “Loud City,” the Paycom Center was, at one point, sold out for 350 consecutive Thunder games. In addition to its lively environment, Paycom Center is ranked as the second-best stadium for food in the entire NBA. After making the postseason in 2023, the Thunder are poised to take another step forward this year. Get your tickets now, because you won’t want to miss a game.

OKC is proud to be the home of USA Softball, the nation’s governing body of softball, and the USA Softball Hall of Fame. The NCAA Women’s College World Series is played in Oklahoma City every June. The annual event, hosted at Hall of Fame Stadium, brings thousands of visitors, fans and athletes to the city for nine days of fast-paced championship softball. This is a top-notch, family-friendly sporting event that draws national media and fans from across the country to its festival atmosphere and incredible athletic competition.

RIVERSPORT

SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT

An official U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Site and home of the OKC National High Performance Center for rowing, canoeing and kayaking, Riversport allows fans to be a spectator at events throughout the year, such as the Stars and Stripes River Festival in June and the Oklahoma Regatta Festival in October. Riversport also hosts the Swiftwater Conference & Championship, a national competition and training event for first responders, plus the USRowing RowFest Summer Championships which is slated for July 2024.

While these teams reflect the most popular spectator sports in OKC, Oklahoma City residents show up for one another in every arena. For those looking to find a new hobby or try something a little different, be sure to check out the OKC Spark (Women’s Pro Fastpitch Softball), Oklahoma Freedom (Pro Bull Riding), the OKC Lady Force (women’s professional football) and the Oklahoma Warriors (NAHL hockey). BRITTON DISTRICT The Britton District is one of OKC’s latest areas being revived by a group of business owners and passionate neighbors working to preserve a stretch of Britton Road along historic Route 66. EAST END DISTRICT The East End District is in northeast OKC along NE 23rd Street and is experiencing vibrant redevelopment using a community-based approach to ethically preserve African American art and culture. The East End District’s food scene continues to expand its offerings, anchored by the state’s first James Beard Awardee, Florence’s Restaurant, along with bars and restaurants including Polk House, Carican Flavors, Eastside Pizza, Kindred Spirits and Scrambl’d. HORIZONS DISTRICT Horizons District is OKC’s newest district located southeast of Bricktown along the Oklahoma River just east of I-35 and south of I-40. Café Kacao Cocina Latina. You can’t talk about the OKC brunch scene without the multi-award-winning delights waiting for you at Café Kacao. If you’ve never had fried plantains as a brunch side, friends, you are in for a treat. Start with a horchata latte or kick it up a notch with a horchata rum latte! Next, go for the Cuban omelet, filled with jack cheese, whole black beans and topped with mojo shredded beef and onions, or go classic with a huge plate of chilaquiles. You literally cannot go wrong. Jimmy’s Egg. An Oklahoma original if ever there was one, there are locations dotting Oklahoma City, so you’re never far from a great brunch. Chef Andrew Black received a James Beard Award (Best Chef Southwest) in 2023 for his tasting menu concept Grey Sweater. The prestigious award was the second for an Oklahoma City restaurateur; Florence Jones won an American Classics Award from the James Beard Foundation in 2022 for her Soul and Southern food institution on Oklahoma City’s northeast side, Florence’s Restaurant. While locals have long known how exceptional our city’s food scene is, over the past few years national media have also discovered the excellence and diversity of our culinary landscape.

Florence’s Restaurant. The daughter of sharecroppers from Boley, Oklahoma has operated her eponymously named restaurant since founding it in 1952, when she was 22 years-old. Known for their yammed fried chicken, turkey neck bones, chicken and dumplings and pear pie, the concept has been a destination for decades, both for residents of the northeast side and legislators from the nearby Capitol. Florence’s daughter Victoria Jones oversees operations these days, but you can still spy Florence in the kitchen occasionally. 40

Frida Southwest. Known locally for their overall excellence, this Paseo Arts District concept received a James Beard Award nomination for Best Bar Program, largely thanks to the impeccable palate of operating partner Kim Dansereau. Chefs Quinn Carroll and Rachel Porter deliver a remarkable one-two punch of appetizers, entrees, brunch and desserts. Porter is easily one of the best pastry chefs in the state, and Carroll is one of the brightest young stars in the OKC food scene. Dansereau has built the city’s most popular wine list, and her ability to hire stellar, creative bartenders means that every aspect of Frida – from first cocktail to dessert – is a lovely dining experience, especially if the weather is right for their gorgeous patio. Grey Sweater. Chef-owner Andrew Black likes to talk about his fine dining, tasting menu concept Grey Sweater as a place that has no particular loyalty to “how things should be done.” Instead, he and executive sous Chef Dylan Morgan source products from all over the world to create what can only be seen as a culinary adventure. The beautiful surroundings – including stunning lighting from the London underground – contribute to the feeling that you’re in a place designed for discovery and delight. From roast squab to beautifully prepared turnips to bison or scallops, caviar and wine, the menu is eclectic, delicious and presented in gorgeous tableaus. Ma Der Lao Kitchen. Chef-owner Jeff Chanchaleune was a semifinalist for Best Chef Southwest in the same class as Chef Andrew Black. It was the Lao chef ’s second nomination for the honor, and the closest he’s come to winning. The nomination seemed certain after Chanchaleune’s traditional Lao concept was included on Bon Appétit’s 50 Best New Restaurants for 2022 and the New

nonesuch. Back in 2018, the Midtown tasting menu concept nonesuch received an amazing accolade: Bon Appétit’s Best New Restaurant in America. Nonesuch focuses on locally sourced ingredients to create brilliant, balanced tastes that feature the best of Oklahoma, including foraged ingredients and proteins from local ranchers. If it doesn’t grow or live in Oklahoma, it doesn’t go on the menu, and that guarantees freshness, accountability and a worthy homage to our state’s agricultural workers. Sedalia’s

York Times’ annual The Restaurant List, a compilation of their 50 favorites from around the country. Chanchaleune has managed to translate rustic, traditional Lao cuisine for Oklahoma City diners, including crispy rice salad (nam khao), Lao sausage (sai oua), spicy, delicious pepper sauce (jaew bong), some of the city’s best fried chicken and what the locals call “beef jerky.” As an added bonus, Chanchaleune’s sister Jeslyn helms one of the city’s best bars, with brilliantly crafted, Asian-inspired cocktails to pair with the cuisine. nonesuch

Sedalia’s Oyster & Seafood. For the second year in a row, Oklahoma City has a restaurant on Bon Appétit magazine’s The Best New Restaurants list, a prestigious selection of the best new restaurants in the country. This time it’s a California-fresh seafood meets traditional Bolivian cuisine joint on N. May near NW 10th. Owner-operators Chef Zack and Silvana Walters chose the unlikely location after returning to OKC during the COVID shutdown. He was a successful Los Angeles chef-owner, and she had built a reputation as an excellent front-of-house manager at a handful of Michelin Star restaurants in New York City and L.A. Chef Zack’s family has owned a playground equipment company for more than fifty years, and it was one of their buildings that the Walters retrofitted to be a small restaurant with brilliant seafood, like raw and roasted oysters, a variety of crudos and conservas, anticuchos and a life-changing loaf of focaccia. The menu changes every week, depending on availability; he refuses to serve anything but the freshest seafood, and the commitment pays off when you taste the octopus anticucho, hamachi crudo or raw scallops, to say nothing of the remarkable oyster selection each week. The wine and cocktail list are necessarily small given the size of the building, but the Walters both have stellar palates, meaning you’re getting a sampling of the best wine and spirits available in the state. visitokc.com

Start your tour in Automobile Alley at Skydance Brewing Co., a Native American-owned microbrewery. Skydance celebrates their heritage through the art and stories they tell on the branding and packaging of their products. Fancy Dance, a dry-hopped hazy IPA, is a must try! Walk a block over to Prairie Artisan Ales for a delicious Rainbow Sherbet or the Prairie BOMB, a stout known around the world! Just a few blocks to the west is Vanessa House Beer Company. Their top seller is the 401(k) Cream Ale, named after the owner’s experience of putting their own retirement funds to create the beer – which paid off! The next brewery is located in Bricktown. Pop into Bricktown Brewery and try the Blues Berry Ale fruit beer. Bricktown Brewery is a traditional American brewpub, offering some of the best handcrafted, local beers around. Afterwards, stop at one of OKC’s most popular taprooms, Stonecloud Brewing, located in the beautiful, historic Sunshine Laundry building. Order the Neon Sunshine, a Belgian Wit and crowd favorite. Make a stop at Fair-Weather Friend Brewery for the Northern Flicker and delicious wood oven pizza. Angry Scotsman Brewing offers several different styles of beer. A local favorite is the Gateway to Helles, a light, German-style lager. They have a large patio with lawn games, making it a great brewery to visit with family and friends. You can’t beat the view of downtown from their patio! Cross Oklahoma City Blvd. to Lively Beerworks for their Indian Pale Ale. They often host fun events like comedy and art shows, trivia and karaoke. Next, stop at Anthem Brewing, one of Oklahoma’s original craft breweries and one of the largest taprooms in the metro. Lastly, check out the nationally acclaimed brewery, The Big Friendly, located in the Wheeler District. This one is a bit out of the way, but this 2022 and 2023 American Beer Festival Brewery of the Year is well worth the trip. There’s a spacious patio and a playground for kids to play while you enjoy one of their pilsners or lagers that are always in rotation. If you can’t make it to the taproom, you might catch their mobile bus at a local event or festival.

CHECK OUT THESE TOURS FOR A ROUND-UP OF TASTING EXPERIENCES: BRICKTOWN BIKE BAR A pedal-powered bike bar that fits up to 16 people. They can take you to any brewery in the West Village, Midtown or Bricktown Districts. You can usually fit in three stops on a two-hour tour. FACTORY OBSCURA

If you are looking for a completely out of-thisworld experiential immersion, then visiting Factory Obscura is a must. There is nothing else quite like it. The current iteration, Mix-Tape, is the first permanent installation of its kind in OKC. State Capitol

A tour of the Oklahoma State Capitol is a must for any art, history or civics buff. The historic building, which completed a full restoration in 2022, is home to hundreds of pieces of artworks located throughout the six floors. Artists from all over converge in the heart of the Paseo Arts District. This tight-knit creative community puts their own spin on everything. Expect good food, amazing art, live music and plenty of chill. STEAMROLLER FESTIVAL (APRIL 27)

The ARTSPACE at Untitled brings us heavy metal printmaking at its finest. Dozens of giant wood block prints are inked and pressed by an actual steamroller. Each enormous print is then proudly displayed along the outer facade of the building for the festival-goers to enjoy. DEADCENTER FILM FESTIVAL (JUNE 6-9)

In 20 years, deadCenter grew from a one-night screening of local short films into a global indie film phenomenon. Held at venues across the city, it is a celebration of OKC as well.

PLAZA DISTRICT FESTIVAL & PLAZA WALLS (SEPTEMBER 28)

What started as a celebration of the comeback of the revitalized Plaza District, the Plaza District Festival draws a crowd – and a party! The weekend festival celebrates Oklahoma’s performing artists, visual artists and musicians. The annual Plaza Walls Mural Expo happens simultaneously and invites visitors to watch as artists from around the world paint new murals in the district. PRIX DE WEST (MAY 31-AUGUST 4)

One of the premier Western art exhibitions and sales in the world is held annually at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. From contemporary sculptures to oversized landscape paintings, Prix de West has it all. RED EARTH FESTIVAL (MARCH 22-24)

Red Earth is possibly one of the most uniquely OKC festivals. At the festival, guests can admire and purchase art from First American artists, including contemporary and traditional pieces like paintings, beadwork, jewelry, pottery, and more. The weekend celebrations will also feature Native dance performances and live music.

The official theatre of Oklahoma can be found in OKC’s own Lyric Theatre. From Mary Poppins to world premieres, Lyric performs both classic and contemporary plays and musicals that tell stories of hope, empathy and foster conversation. Their home is at the Plaza Theatre in the Plaza District, but their large-scale musicals are held at the Civic Center Music Hall downtown. The Oklahoma City Ballet is the resident dance company of the Civic Center Music Hall and boasts talented dancers from around the world. Led by Maestro Alexander Mickelthwate, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic also calls the Civic Center Music Hall home as they bring nationally acclaimed artists and orchestral music to the city. They also offer concerts at Scissortail Park throughout the summer that are free and open to the public. Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park offers performances in the warmer months in their Shakespeare Gardens in the Paseo Arts District or in their indoor black box theatre in the cooler months. Either way, their bold, imaginative retelling of the classics is entertaining to all. OKC Broadway brings nationally touring musicals to our city. TOWER THEATRE The historic Tower Theatre opened in 1937 and is one of Oklahoma City’s last original movie houses with an intact auditorium and iconic neon marquee. After many years of movie premieres and historic runs of classic films, the Tower Theatre closed in 1989. In 2017, it returned as a live music, movie and event venue in the heart of OKC’s Uptown 23rd Street District, seating over 1,100 people and routinely featuring an eclectic selection of artists encompassing most music genres.

For those traveling by car, ADA parking spaces are available in all OKC public parking garages. Downtown metered parking is free for those with valid disability parking placards.

OKC’s public transit system offers accessible bus, ferry and streetcar services. All buses and ferries feature wheelchair lifts, and streetcars are accessible by wheeled mobility devices.
