pening Nights at Florida State University is excited to bring the very best performing arts, music, dance, comedy, literature and visual arts to our campus and community. November continues with Opening Nights’ first Goodwood Series concert at the Goodwood Museum and Gardens featuring GRAMMY® nominated Della Mae. Don’t miss these amazing ladies performing their heartwarming, bluegrass melodies. Finally, we end 2023 with a holiday concert for the whole family, featuring a family of musicians. MacMaster & Leahy Celtic Family Christmas will delight all ages with a family Christmas concert. Known as Canada’s reigning couple of Celtic music, they are sure to delight. Join us at Opperman Music Hall on December 7.

to show your support of our mission to present exceptional artists — a mission worthy of supporting and celebrating! These performances create a thriving cultural life in our community and create priceless educational experiences on campus and throughout the community. Ask any Opening Nights associate about these philanthropic opportunities. Thank you for sharing the first half of our 23–24 season with us. We look forward to many more outstanding performances coming your ways in Tallahassee’s Bicentennial Year, 2024.

Della Mae Della Mae is a GRAMMY®-nominated all-woman string band founded by lead vocalist/guitarist Celia Woodsmith and 2-time Grand National champion fiddle player Kimber Ludiker. Rounding out the current touring lineup are guitarist Avril Smith, and bassist Vickie Vaughn. Hailing from across North America, and reared in diverse musical styles, Della Mae is one of the most charismatic and engaging roots bands touring today. They have traveled to over 30 countries spreading peace and understanding through music. Their mission as a band is to showcase top female musicians, and to improve opportunities for women and girls through advocacy, mentorship, programming, and performance. In early 2020, Della Mae released Headlight—a studio album dedicated to celebrating powerful, trailblazing women. While the pandemic made it impossible to tour that album, the band continued to play together. They returned to touring in Summer 2021 with another new album Family Reunion. In early 2022, they released a video on demand concert called The Stonecroft Sessions. In July 2023, they released a new single “Can’t Let Go.”
