The Greatest Show For more than a century, Oklahoma ag youth have come to Oklahoma City each spring to compete with the best livestock and showmen their generation has to offer. In the 1920’s and the 1930’s the show’s formal title was “The Oklahoma City Fat Stock Show.” For nearly 60 years the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and the dedicated volunteer base of the Sirloin Club of Oklahoma managed the show. In 1994, the event became part of the Oklahoma Spring Fair. The show was a component of the Spring Fair until its demise in 2001. The show was then taken over by a volunteer group led by Mr. Robert Funk, CEO of Express Personnel Services and owner

of Express Ranches; Mr. Clayton Bennett, Chairman of the Oklahoma State Fair Board of Directors; Mr. Eddie Smith, State FFA Director; Mr. Jimmy Harrel, Bank of Western Oklahoma; and Mr. Dennis Howard, past Oklahoma Commissioner of Agriculture. The group incorporated as the Oklahoma Youth Expo, a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization. Today, the Oklahoma Youth Expo is recognized as the largest youth event in the state of Oklahoma. The livestock show brings more than 7,000 exhibitors along with their educators and families from all of Oklahoma’s 77 counties. Over the course of the ten-day event, OYE has a $25 million impact on Oklahoma City.

Sale of Champions The Sale of Champions is a prestigious event where generous donors reward Oklahoma’s elite youth for their hard work and dedication they put into their livestock. This premium auction repeatedly awards more than $1 million to our youth. The Grand Drive This is what truly makes OYE, the greatest show. As the top exhibitors arrive in a stretch limo, the red carpet is rolled out, trophies are lowered from the ceiling and it’s all complete with the best pyrotechnics of any livestock show. The top exhibitors then show their animals one last time and the judge crowns a grand champion, reserve champion and bronze medallion for each of the four species represented, cattle, sheep, hogs and goats. Skillathon The Skillathon is an exam process designed to test students’ animal industry knowledge. Students are tested over animal health practices, animal feeding techniques, animal industry knowledge and much more. The initial exam will determine the top students who will return for a second, hands-on exam. The goal of this event is to expand the general livestock knowledge. Scholarships will be awarded to the winners. Rewarding our Youth Our ag youth are the future of our state and the future of the agricultural industry. Thanks to generous sponsors who believe in our youth, the Oklahoma Youth Expo has been able to award more than $20 million throughout the past decade.
