Nothing people can say or do to

you can remove the favor of God. God’s favor may be something you can only feel in your spirit at times. It may not be visible to the world or even to you, but hang in there. Eventually your circumstances will have to bow to what God says over your life. No matter what it looks like from the outside (or even the inside), remember that as God’s child, you are favored. Stay obediently in the hand of God and remember the angel’s parting words to Mary, for they are a truth upon which you can depend: “Nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).

JOI HAYWARD

Principles for Financial Confidence Wouldn’t it have been great for every person to be born with a silver spoon in their mouths or with an already paid college education, inherited home and money to start a business? Of course, it would! Unfortunately, life does not happen this way. We are born in various conditions, some with much and some with little. However, our choices can propel us into further prosperity or further poverty.

In our home, we have identified a solution which has been taught by Christian leaders in various ways, summed up by 3Ss. These three Ss in the following order have allowed us to grow in financial discipline. Financial discipline will help a person born with much continue in much and a person born poor grows into abundance. The first S is Sowing! Wow! I know you already knew this! Sowing is our ability to do what God requires first. This is important to understand because we serve a God who can do all things and without Him, we can do nothing. God designed a principle with our seed called

Seedtime and Harvest. We have to sow and we also reap. We have to give and we will also receive. The one thing I truly love about God is He is the best giver and I can never out-give God. Therefore all I give has a bible promised to return and it exceeds my seed no matter how big or how small. My seed creates an environment where I live in abundance. The second S is Saving! Wow! I bet you knew this one too! Saving your money is crucial to how you live your everyday life. We need to save because we need to have a reserve. Reserved funds do not just support ourselves but they turn into a seed that creates the way for an additional harvest. Savings can also turn into things we enjoy without all the hardship. Who wants to buy a car or a house, have an event occur in life, and no longer be able to enjoy the house or the car. Savings will keep us out of the bind of financial dependency when life happens. And we all know life happens. The third and final S is Spending. That's right you knew that one too! I am so impressed. Spending wisely comes before enjoyment. We have a responsibility to spend our money on those bills attached to our names. So now that we have sown and saved, we are more than ready to spend as accountable stewards and to enjoy the fruit of our labor. I often tell ladies there should be less stress in buying those shoes because there will be shoes in the future during a more affordable season. There should be less stress in buying purses, especially if there is no money to put in the purse. Purses will be available in the future. However, we should feel pressure to keep our name good by paying the car note, electricity, mortgage, rent and other bills we committed ourselves to pay. Spending includes our payments to others and our payments to ourselves. Putting sowing, saving, and spending in the proper place created an atmosphere of financial confidence. It's nothing like the peace of mind of doing what is right with our money even when we do not have all the things we desire. But just hold on for a little while because once you practice these principles for a little while, you are guaranteed to see increase in your life. Happy Sowing, saving, and spending! Three Tips to Get Your Social Media Presence Together for 2020 By Dr. Aikyna Finch

*Visuals - This is very important for many reasons. First, most of the world is visual so that is the initial reason why they stop to view a post. You only have a few moments to capture the attention of your audience so make sure it is in a positive way. Second, the branding of the visuals helps people to recognize your brand. Remember that it takes 7 touch points on average before they buy. At that point, they tend to develop recognition for a brand when they see it over and over, which hopefully will become brand loyalty once they purchase it. Make sure that your branding is consistent so brand recognition can start to take place. Last, the colors and images that are used can command a feeling that people resonate with and make them want the product or service at hand. If you research color meanings you will see what your brand colors are saying to the audience versus what your words say. Make sure that they are consistent.

A presence on social media is important in today’s business setting. While there are people that are still making money without advertising on social media, they still have a presence there. So some may ask "Isn’t it all the same?" The answer is no. It depends on how you use your platforms in business.

*Copy - Tell the people what you are about and who you help. Tailor your copy to the speak of the social media platform. Some have character counts so you need to be able to say the same thing in a few that you can say in several paragraphs. The overall message of your business should be consistent across all platforms so people get the same feeling about your business wherever they see it and read about it. This is where you educate people and get them to realize how much of an impact you would make in their lives with your products or services. What is it that you have to share with the world that you have been holding back that will make the difference in your social media presence. *Connection - Use your copy and visuals in a way that resonates with the audience. This will make the people that follow you stay. They need to get information, entertainment or encouragement to continue to follow a social media page so make sure that your content is impactful. This is where that feeling comes from when they visit your page and they feel at home. Decide the feeling that fits your business or brand and pick words and pictures that convey that to your audience. Make sure that the pictures are fresh and clear. Make sure the words are real and true to your business and brand. Talk to them like you would if you were in front of them. Make them feel like they know you before they meet you in person. Relationships matter so build them socially and personally.Using these three tips will help you shape the look and feel of the social media for your business and/or brand. The visuals will help the world recognize your business and brand visually. The copy will help the world learn about your mission and vision while building that warm feeling and connection with the business or brand. Try out the tips and share your feedback because others may need these tips to build their unique social media presence. While you are not built for everyone, you are built for someone and that someone is searching for you so put your business out there in a unique way so they can find you! 20

ack in my home church where I grow up is when I realized I had the desire to minister to youth. I took joy in helping with planning and executing youth events. Also when I started going in schools and speaking it became very clear to me what I should be doing. Please share in your own words, the importance the next generation having mentors? Wow! Great question. It’s extremely important. The next or the now generation needs mentors who see the value in them and he’ll them get there. It’s important that the mentor doesn’t try to make a replica of who they are but help groom them to be who they need and called to be . I think also the mentee needs to respect the process of a great mentor especially when they are doing it from a genuine place. Was it a hard decision when choosing to run for Baltimore City Council? Why? Why not? Absolutely! It was extremely hard because there are many great people doing great things for our city and for our district so it becomes what sets you apart for people to believe in you? That’s one of the many questions I asked myself. Also having people in ALL your business can become a tough avenue. But to whom much is given much is required. I definitely went through a check list of why or why not but the why out weighed they why not. So I am looking to give it all I got and see what happens.

Duane Williams Jr.

Never give up on what you believe in!

I am grateful to have some amazing people in my life. Some people will come around and say so much. But it’s the people that say so little and do so much that you have to keep close. I am grateful because that people that believe in me are giving financially, knocking doors with me, and just praying for me. What more can you ask for! So I am grateful for all of them. What would you say to a young man that has experienced a bump in the road in his journey to reach his dream? I would tell them to keep going. I don’t say that in a cliché way but with a strong level of faith. I remember when I lost everything I had from a decision I made. The first thing I thought was Lord how will I recover from this? He said look you are going to get the help you need and then you are going to get back to work. So that’s what I did. I took a minute to get my heart, mind, and soul together. Tried to correct the wrongs that I could and then went for it. When you experience lost you always have to remain determine! Your attitude doesn’t have time to affect your journey. Then you have to use what’s at your disposal... often times we have gifts that we don’t sell or use. Never hold back what God has given you even if people don’t understand it. Lastly I would say heal...take time to deal with what’s inside of you that makes you have bumps. Be honest with yourself. Find a person you can really trust, counselor, therapist, something of that sort to help release what it may be.

"Favor to me is Gods way of showing us that he is very much involved in our lives. Favor is when the impossible becomes the possible. Favor is to remind us of who God is in our lives."

Just Mercy A powerful and thought-provoking true story, “Just Mercy” follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson (Jordan) and his history-making battle for justice. After graduating from Harvard, Bryan had his pick of lucrative jobs. Instead, he heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper representation, with the support of local advocate Eva Ansley (Larson). One of his first, and most incendiary, cases is that of Walter McMillian (Foxx), who, in 1987, was sentenced to die for the notorious murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite a preponderance of evidence proving his innocence and the fact that the only testimony against him came from a criminal with a motive to lie. In the years that follow, Bryan becomes embroiled in a labyrinth of legal and political maneuverings and overt and unabashed racism as he fights for Walter, and others like him, with the odds—and the system— stacked against them.

Limited release in theaters on December 25th Wide on January 10, 2020 Director: Destin Daniel Cretton Writers: Destin Daniel Cretton & Andrew Lanham Based on the book by Bryan Stevenson Producers: Gil Netter, Asher Goldstein, Michael B. Jordan Executive Producers: Bryan Stevenson, Mike Drake, Niija Kuykendall, Gabriel Hammond, Daniel Hammond, Scott Budnick, Jeff Skoll, Charles D. King Cast: Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, Rob Morgan, Tim Blake Nelson, Rafe Spall, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Karan Kendrick and Brie Larson

HFM: What attracted you to the film, "Just Mercy" and the role as Bryan Stevenson? MBJ: I got introduced to the book and got a chance to read it and listen to Bryan’s TED Talk. Bryan Stevenson is a real-life superhero to me and so many others. After I got a chance to really get to know him and his story and his work, I felt like I had a great deal of pressure to get it right, so it was intimidating at first. It was a group effort among all of us to make sure we paid attention to every detail, that we were as accurate as possible, that we embodied what Bryan represents, what Equal Justice Initiative represents, what he's trying to do. HFM: From the overtones of mercy, redemption and justice presented in this film would you say that this is something that will aid in opening more eyes as to what is going on in our nation today? MBJ: I felt a huge responsibility to run towards this issue, to run towards the story, to try to do whatever I could to use my platform to get the story out to the masses. I hoped that would ultimately give Bryan a tool, something to help him do his job. HFM: Being a young lawyer, I am certain Bryan had some challenges to face. How has playing this particular role inspired you? MBJ: The fact that Bryan is in the supreme courts, fighting these cases, fighting this cause, day in and day out - how can we do our part? That’s what I wanted to bring to this issue and to this project. It’s about hearing Bryan’s story and wanting to be a part of the change. I want to be a part of the effort, to do my part. HFM: What do you hope audiences take away from watching the film? MBJ: This is a true story of how faith and hope carry us through. It’s the same message that good preachers and good teachers are giving people every day. They’re bringing faith and hope into people’s lives, and, through my work and in my life, I’m trying to do the same. HFM: Our magazine is called His Favor Magazine. It is a faith-based magazine in which we share how the favor of God operates in our lives. What does "Favor" mean to you and how has it played a role in your life? MBJ: There's nothing better than making a positive difference in other people's lives, and I've been blessed to be able to be part of a movie I believe can do that. HFM: What words of encouragement can you offer to a young man that is still trying to find his way? (ie purpose in life) MBJ: I want to be a part of the change; that’s what’s important to me, especially at this time in my life as a black man in America. These issues directly affect me and my community.

His Favor Review Just Mercy is a "must see "immediately film. While focusing on the indescrepencies of the justice system especially toward black men, it is something everyone should view. With all that is going on in today's society, a movie that takes place in the 80's helps us see that we still have a long way to go. The scene with Bryan Stevenson (Michael B Jordan) and Eva Ansley (Brie Lawson) sitting in front of a body of water captures the importance communication plays when trying to understand each other even in our differences and perspectives. ~Sheneè Woodson, His Favor Magazine Founder/ Editor In Chief

HFM: When did you realize that you had a desire to start start Tavon Love The Kids Foundation? I always wanted to help and work with kids especially in my hometown of Baltimore. I felt that if I had the opportunity to go to college and play in the NFL that I wanted the youth of my city to see someone from the city who did it and realize that they could do the same if they wanted to. I also wanted to be of some type of help for the families in my city. HFM: Please share in your own words, the importance of mentoring the next generation? It’s important to mentor the next generation because I feel our youth are lost and I see it as well. Some of the next generation don’t respect the ones who came before them and I believe connecting with them and educating of the past will be a great benefit for the world.

HFM: What would you say to a young man that has experienced a bump in the road in his journey to reach his dream? I would tell him to stay on task because even as adults we experience bumps in the road. Also don’t be quick to quit what your dream because you haven’t reached your goal just yet. All great entrepreneur’s and successful people must take small steps before blowing up. HFM: What would you like readers to take away after reading your book? My children’s book Tavon Does It All was written first to again let our young black children see someone who looks like them doing great things. After reading my book I want everyone to see that as an athlete we are intelligent and not just JOCKS. HFM: Why did you decide to invest in producing your own beard care line? It’s crazy I needed something for my beard a few years ago and didn’t know much about it so I began to research it. I saw how to make it and my wife purchased some of my ingredients in 2016 and it took me 2 years in October of 2018 to start making it. I also saw an increase in men wearing beards and woman loving the beard look. I have been making my Tavon’s Beard Butter for a little over a year and have gotten great reviews on it. I am expanding to beard oils and beard washes in December.

Created 2 Be

Winter is the owner of two growing businesses, one of which is her brand ministry, Created 2 Be. She is a Marketing & Communications Manager, full time Doctoral student, frequently requested workshop presenter/speaker, gifted singer, and author of three books and her newest release, “Bold, Brave, Beautiful Love ~ Escaping the Cycle of Loving in Fear” is due out this Fall. Winter’s proudest accomplishment is being mother to 4 beautiful children from her previous marriage.

I

believe I’m gifted with the ability to influence. A lot of this gravitated towards me because of that gift. Influence by default means the ability to impact. So I’m grateful that social media has given me the opportunity to shine my light and impact others for the sake of the kingdom. It is something I sincerely enjoy. I love people and this affords me the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world. HFM:Please share with us the most memorable moment that you impacted someone else's life? There are really so many. I get letters, cards, and emails often. One time , in particular, a lady said she had just gone through a divorce & felt her world was over. She said that she wanted to kill herself & somehow stumbled across my page where I was sharing about bouncing back after divorce. She told me that reading that particular post gave her the encouragement she needed to seek help and hope for better days. I was overwhelmed. Sometimes you never know how you can impact someone simply by sharing. We still keep in contact & she is doing amazing. It makes my heart smile. HFM:You are a relationship expert. What would you say to someone that has experienced a lot of heartaches and has become afraid of "love" Goodness, my latest book addresses escaping the cycle of loving in fear. I’ll share something I wrote. “Fear is an enemy of faith and an adversary of our future. We cannot pursue the goodness that lies ahead while afraid of letting go of the familiarity of where we are or the pain from where we’ve been. For as much as we should guard our hearts, love is always going to require some risk. It is going to require that we find the courage to throw some caution to the wind. For anyone that has been hurt in love, that is going to be a challenge. Learning to love courageously is crucial if we ever want to experience the fullness that love can bring.“ HFM: As an author, how have you been able to reach your audience? (Do you gain more support from men or women) I’m a storyteller. I get that from my grandmother. She was an amazing storyteller. I’m able to infuse my words with my emotions. If you tune in to my shows, then you’ll hear my voice as you read. My country accent makes my voice unique. By telling stories, It helps build connections. I pray that my audience feels my compassion & empathy for their circumstances. I personally don’t believe you can truly impact the heart of people from the place of “better than”. You impact by coming alongside their journey and encouraging & pushing them to be better than they were. I share my stories because I want them to know that they’re not alone & if God can see me through, He can do the same for them. I say often that I pray my life is a billboard for His grace, faithfulness, love, and favor. My audience is about half & half. More men actually. I get messages from men often asking for my advice. I think they appreciate my balanced perspective. I consider myself an equal opportunity truth-teller, LOL! My ultimate desire is to continue being an impactful storyteller that aids in the transformation of lives for the kingdom across the globe.
