Visiting Jamaica:

WEATHER AND SEASON CONSIDERATIONS

Author Brandon Glickstein Travel Tips

A vacation trip to Jamaica is the dream of many who hope to swim in the island’s natural waters, explore the Blue Mountains, tour the capital Kingston, and sample the local delicacies. While the island nation is open to tourists all year, there are times and seasons when a visit could be more enjoyable than others.

BEST TIME OF THE YEAR Ideal weather – sunny days and little rainfall – is present from November to March. As the weather is perfect during these months, prepare for big crowds at the beaches and limited availability at hotels. Advance booking is recommended if you are looking to visit during this time.

LOW SEASON The low season runs from mid-April to early December and is characterised by reduced

tourist numbers and discounts at resorts and on tours. The popular beaches are less crowded too, making it possible to explore more areas without feeling uncomfortable. However, this season also has the possibility of poor weather, especially during hurricane season in June. Due to the unpredictable weather, visitors are encouraged to maintain flexible schedules if a portion of the itinerary must be cancelled due to bad weather.
