HIGH- QUALITY PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT ALL YOUTH


WHAT TO KNOW

CHILD SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY COVID-19 HEALTH GUIDELINES Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco strictly adheres to City and County COVID-19 health guidelines for youth services. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have continuously provided extra safety precautions to protect the health of our youth, staff, and community, and we will continue to do so. We are constantly adjusting our programming to meet the evolving situation.

HEALTHY SNACKS AND MEALS At the Club, youth are provided all-natural, healthy snacks and lunch. All meals are prepared fresh daily with no artificial preservatives, artificial colors, or highfructose corn syrup in any of the food served.

Our organization is committed to the highest standards of safety and integrity and maintains a zero tolerance policy for behavior that harms a child. Our Clubhouses are designed and programmed to be physically and emotionally safe places for our children and teens under the guidance of caring, highly-trained, and trustworthy staff.

SUMMER DATES DATES: Thursday, June 2 - Friday, July 29 (All Clubs will be closed June 20 and July 4) HOURS: Hours vary by location. Please contact your specific Clubhouse on page 3 for information. COST: $100 for the full summer program. Financial assistance is also available.

CAMP MENDOCINO

All Club members have the opportunity to attend our 2,000-acre residential summer camp located 3.5 hours north of San Francisco in a beautiful redwood forest. Camp Mendocino provides a creative, fun, and supportive camping experience for youth.

PROGRAMMING ACROSS ALL CLUBHOUSES Our programming focuses on the whole child. As we navigate the challenges of a lingering pandemic, we know that youth will need increased academic and socioemotional support to emerge from the pandemic strong, resilient, and optimistic. We are also passionate about youth leadership, job readiness, sports, and the arts.

SUMMER LITERACY PROGRAM

SPORTS, FITNESS AND PLAY!

Our comprehensive summer literacy program is led by our team of education professionals who dedicate specific time everyday to keep youth of all ages engaged in learning. Daily lessons, and activities include reading, writing, speaking, listening, and vocabulary development.

In line with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s commitment to healthy lifestyles, members engage in structured and unstructured play time. Staff are trained to facilitate games, activities, and sports so kids have fun and build a strong appreciation for physical activity.

CREATIVITY & EXPLORATION!

FIELD TRIPS

We build in time during the summer for youth to explore the outdoors and local attractions with joy and freedom. These experiences facilitate and encourage new and important discoveries. 4 | SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM 2022

Programming blends daily enrichment across many content areas. Popular activities include STEAM, arts, and crafts, cooking, community service opportunities, and wellness activities.

PERFORMING ARTS

VISUAL ARTS

SWIM ACADEMY

Classes in acting, musical theater, dance, and performance for youth of all ages.

Through drawing, painting, photography, and more, youth learn to use visual art as a lens into their own lives and a tool to affect positive change.

Our comprehensive swim program offers affordable, high-quality, and safe water smart classes, recreational swim, learnto-swim classes, and competitive swim.

GARDENING

At several locations, members stay busy in our onsite gardens. Youth take turns watering, spreading compost, and maintaining various plants and flowers. They also harvest their own fruit and vegetables!

JUNIOR GIANTS BASEBALL

MEWATER FOUNDATION

Club members have access to highquality music studios where they can work with professional music instructors to learn a new instrument and write and record music.

Every summer, Major League Baseball brings the Junior Giants program to Club members giving them the chance to experience the joys of baseball, be active outdoors, build new friendships, and learn good sportsmanship.

Youth participate in surf lessons! In addition to building that specific skill, this also gives them the opportunity to practice mindfulness, empowerment, and exposure to the ocean.

CARING STAFF MENTORS AND FIRST-CLASS FACILITIES HIGHLY- QUALIFIED, EXPERIENCED, AND ENTHUSIASTIC STAFF MENTORS Our skilled and caring staff instill a sense of competency and belonging, while ensuring that every child feels valued, heard, and understood. We invest heavily in recruitment, background checks, and training to ensure that only well-qualified and highly-skilled mentors are supporting youth at all times.

FIRST-CLASS FACILITIES Our state-of-the-art facilities inspire and motivate youth to reach their full potential. We understand that young people must feel safe and supported in order to thrive. Our Clubs are designed and programmed to be physically and emotionally safe places for kids and staff — all day, every day.

OUR CARING AND SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY A SENSE OF BELONGING We create a second home for youth who all have a strong sense that their Club belongs to them. This sense of ownership and pride builds confidence and ensures that all youth know that their Clubhouse is a place where they belong and will always be supported.

SOCIOEMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND WELLNESS Behavioral Health Services is an essential component of our holistic approach to youth development. Our team of Behavioral Health Specialists: • Prioritize wellness activities, regular mental health check-ins, and early interventions • Share coping strategies • Lead behavioral health training for all Club staff • Provide individual and family therapy at no cost to families
