16 As Botetourt County once stretched from the Mississippi to Illinois, and included what would become Kentucky, parts of Ohio, West Virginia, along with numerous other counties, it’s not a surprise that many families can trace their origins back to Botetourt. As a result, one of our most requested and used services is research dealing with g enealogy. Visit Botetour t ’s History Museum on your own or with a group. It seems like only a few insiders know about Botetourt’s rich legacy with horses. Breeding and working farms right here supply top ranked stock to the equestrian sports all over. And then there’s the connection to Churchill Downs—from the Breckinridges of Fincastle. Shown here is David Bandy with one of his many beauts at his Wiloma Plantation home in Fincastle. Working farms, stables, riding schools, as well as agricultural and livestock producers and historic farm houses in Botetourt County include Amethyst Acres, Annandale, Beaver Dam Farm, Breezy Rock Stables, Fincastle Farm, Hawthorne Hall, Jeter Farm, Layman Family, Santillane, Wheatland Manor, Williamson Farms, Wiloma Plantation —to name a few.

From your Director

Hello from Beautiful Historic Fincastle in wonderful Botetourt County, Virginia

So many great things continue to happen here in Botetourt County, and so many great and wonderful things have been happening for the Botetourt Chamber. There has been so much positive growth following a period of universal uncertainty in Botetourt County The expansion of Broadband, additional residential development along 220 N, a resurgence in business and energy with our merchants and restaurants, and a Dairy Queen is on the way. Who would have ever thought that following a pandemic we would be seeing all of this growth?

Your Chamber has also seen a banner close to 2022 with an uptick in its number of events, in both quality and attendance We saw an expansion in our ability to give to area food banks by adding Craig County Social Services Food Bank to our list of recipients, through the sponsorship and support of our sponsors We saw growth in our Tinsel Trail event as well.

Did You Know?

A membership in the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce is one of the most important investments a business can make. We're the pro-business voice in Botetourt County and the surrounding region. Being a member will keep you plugged in locally and throughout the region.

How does this growth happen? How do we see Botetourt in the future As you will recall, the 2022 Botetourt Living magazine was about Legacy here in Botetourt The growth of and how we see a Future Botetourt is about vision; a vision held by each and every one of us. A vision of the generations before us. I want you to know that the Vision of the Chamber is to continue its mission of fostering and supporting a healthy and vibrant business community here in Botetourt.
