you have already advised you want the digital copy of RDU.

This week we received Rotary News, so I trust we have all read the newsletter, particularly our new members where it shows and range of project covered by our charity - The Rotary Foundation. Also a write up on Rotary Matters, where club projects and activities are talked about each week, follow the link.

A reminder, that we will be continuing our Elevator Speech (30 second), where the Sergeant will choose a member to speak about Rotary.

This Tuesday we have our Zoom meeting, where we will be inducting Laraine and Paul Jackson into our club, so please join us. Also following our meeting we have our monthly Board Meeting, all welcome again on Zoom

Please remember, to practice good hygiene and social distancing. Chris Brownlee

Letter to the Editor Sire - In a recent Bulletin our Club Secretary offered Rotary members the option of altering their Gender classification to any one of 58 alternatives. At the risk of being hauled up Oxford Street to a Kangaroo Court may I confirm I wish to retain my present classification as MALE (strictly). I well remember when Rotary started to welcome Female members - discussions were forthright, resignations threatened, end of the world scenarios explored and reputations trashed. Imagine this multiplied by 58! So my vote goes for the box marked “none of the above signed A Grumpy Old Codger (in the non-gender specific definition of course).

Tree of Joy 2020 The planning for this year’s Tree of Joy is now underway in circumstances which are probably the most challenging we have faced since our programme started in 1992, since when we have collected and distributed many tens of thousands of gifts and dollars to those in need. This year though, due to Coronavirus affecting most if not all aspects of our life in some way, your committee is working towards new and imaginative ways to continue this our most successful Club community support initiative. Already we are approaching Shopping Centres, Companies and Charities to understand their policies, plans, requirements and probable operating methods over the next few months leading up to Christmas. Please give some thought and talk to me (Chris Brownlee) about ideas you may have, particularly how to reach out to “home working”people, suggestions for the contacting and soliciting of donors and how we handle donations and methods of their distribution. We will I am sure need physical help in the form of vehicles/drivers/carrying muscle, anything you can offer will be much appreciated. Don’t hesitate to talk to me, every idea or suggestion is most welcome. Rtn Chris Brownlee – Joint President.
