We have achieved higher than world averages for the past five years. The highest score achieved at ISS in 2021 was 45 points, from a possible available total of 45.

We have a total of 48 nationalities with approximately 30% of the student body are American citizens, 16% are German, 12% are Japanese, 7% are Indian, and the remainder Korean, British, Polish, Spanish, French, South African, Turkish and Swedish, among other cultural groups.
The IB Middle Years Programme (IB MYP)
The Grade 6 - 10 curriculum at ISS falls within the framework provided by the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. The IB published grade criteria along with the Personal Project are used to measure the final level of achievement in the subject areas listed below:

The IB Diploma Programme (IB DP)
The students must take six subjects and core components; Theory of Knowledge (ToK), Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). One subject must be elected from each of the following groups:
• Group 1 Language & Literature: English A Language and Literature, German A Language and Literature, School Supported Self-taught Literature
• Group 2 Language Acquisition: English B, German B, German ab initio, French B, Spanish B
• Group 3 Individuals & Societies: History, Geography, Business & Management
• Group 4 Experimental Sciences: Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Systems & Societies, Computer Science
• Group 5 Mathematics: Mathematics HL/SL
• Group 6 The Arts: Visual Arts, Music, Theatre Studies
Online IB Diploma courses are also offered by Pamoja Education.
The ISS High School Diploma
The Diploma is awarded to all students who have successfully completed Grades 9 - 12. Credit is given for achievements from ISS and other schools attended. The ISS High School Diploma is NEASC accredited as a High School Diploma in the USA and in many other countries around the world.

• It is a graduation requirement for students to show evidence of learning in Creativity, Activity, Service in 11th and 12th grade.
• Students have performed service at over 400 sites throughout BadenWürttemberg, the European Union, and India, including hospitals, daycares, libraries, and community facilities.
• In addition to our approach to international mindedness and global citizenship in our curricula, ISS offers a number of different extracurricular global citizenship and leadership opportunities, including Model United Nations, International Award (Duke of Edinburgh Award) and Kiva.
• Service as Action is at the core of the Middle Years Programme
Athletics
ISS is a member of the German International Schools Sports Tournaments (GISST) league with students participating in Boys and Girls Varsity and at the U14 level. Athletes are expected to maintain their academic standings while participating in the sports programme.
IB Middle Years Scores
• Average points obtained by students who received the certificate was 43 points.
• Average grade obtained by students who received the certificate was 5.22 (out of 7).
• 71% of students who received the certificate scored 40 or more points (scored on average grade 5 or higher) - German Gymnasium entrance requirement.
• 32% of those who received the certificate also gained bilingual certification.
• The highest number of points obtained was 53 out of a possible 56 points.
• Our students continue to perform better above the world-wide, in both core components of the MYP, Personal Project (PP), a precursor to the Extended Essay in the Diploma Programme and the Interdisciplinary Learning on-screen assessment.

The IB Diploma is awarded to students who meet the subject requirements, receive a minimum score of 24 points, and satisfactorily complete the core components, including Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service. The highest total available for an IB Diploma Programme student is 45 points. Scores are based on the grades of 1 to 7 awarded for each of the six subjects, for a total of 42 points, and up to 3 additional points for the core components.
