2023 NEW HOSPITAL BUILDING OPENS

In 2022 Barlow Respiratory Hospital marks the milestone of a 120-year legacy of service.

In 1902 Dr. Walter Jarvis Barlow founded the premier sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis. Since that time, our focus has always been on care for patients with severe respiratory illness.

We have evolved to specialize in caring for critically ill, medically complex patients and in weaning patients from mechanical ventilation. We are the only not-for-profit respiratory hospital in California, we operate three locations: Los Angeles, Van Nuys and Whittier and serve nearly 1,000 patients annually with unsurpassed expertise and a national reputation for excellence.

In 2023, Barlow Respiratory Hospital expects to complete construction to open the doors of a new building, adjacent to the historic hospital building on Stadium Way in Los Angeles.
