Community Education offers personal enrichment opportunities to learners across the lifecourse. Class offerings include language and writing, recreation and dance, computers and technology, fitness and health, music and art, and more.
Driver Education courses are approved by the Oregon Department of Traffic Safety Division and utilize their curriculum. Classes include permit preparation and teen driver education. Vehicle Safety courses include AARP driver safety, motorcycle safety, tractor safety, and forklift training.

Enhance your skills with classes designed for business owners Foundations of Business Success Taught by Stephen Fuller
Learn how to create and assess a business plan for a start-up in this 10-week course. Topics include financial management, pricing, cash flow, marketing, sales, legal topics, insurance needs, bookkeeping systems, market research, and more. One-on-one advising included.
Orientation is Tuesday, April 2, at 6 p.m. Class begins on April 9 from 6-9 p.m. at the Benton Center. Registration is $349. Register by March 15 and get a $50 discount. Scholarships and other discounts may be available.

Improve your skills using Quickbooks to better manage your bottom line Guided Tour of QuickBooks Taught by Jackie Shaw
This four-hour course is for those who have no previous experience using a computer-based accounting system. In a computer lab, you will learn to open the QuickBooks application and to maneuver through its various functions. Meets Tuesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 4, from 6-8 p.m. on Albany Campus. Registration is $89.

This 10-hour course is designed to provide you with advanced skills using QuickBooks. You will be introduced to month-end and year-end closing processes, locating and fixing errors, comparing how QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online function, and more. Prequalification includes taking QuickBooks 1 and at least one year of computerbased accounting experience. Meets for five sessions on Tuesdays starting April 16 from 3-5 p.m. on Albany Campus. Registration is $219.
This 10-hour course is designed to provide you with the scope of capabilities available in QuickBooks. You will be introduced to basic functions including chart of accounts, bank reconciliations, financial management glossary, customizing and using reports, and more. O’BRIEN DENTAL LAB: A JOURNEY INTO SERVANT LEADERSHIP BY ALLISON L AMPLUGH
INTEGRITY. TEAMWORK. EXCELLENCE. CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. PROGRESSION. In 2018, O’Brien Dental Lab, specializing in restorations and custom implants, brought 16 of their leaders to work with Terri Houde, Corporate Trainer for Extended Learning at LBCC. Their goal was to create a two-day, customized leadership retreat focused on Servant Leadership. “It was a great team building experience, forcing us to get out of our comfort zone and be totally honest with each other,” said participant Lee Montgomery. Before training began, Terri emphasized the importance in understanding that Servant Leadership is more than a philosophy – it is a practice. And the practice of a leader develops the culture of an organization. In the training, participants focused on exploring the role of a leader, the power of being authentic, and the path to building a Servant Leadership culture. Participant Tony Megale summarized his experience after reflecting on their time with Terri. “The question you have to ask your heart is: Are you here to serve or be served?” he said. Everything from productivity, communication, and collaboration can be improved by Servant Leadership principles because a Servant Leader’s first practice is always to serve. Karli Luksch, Senior Team Leader at O’Brien, has seen more efficiency company-wide since their retreat with Terri. Among other things, she has noticed its positive impact on the manner in which they serve their customers.

I do more, to get more, so I can give more.” With her knowledge and passion for teaching, Terri inspired another participant, Mike Wilson, with her willingness to be vulnerable with the group as they explored their own selves. “She is willing to share personal examples of her successes and failures which promotes her credibility, demonstrates authenticity, and enhances her authority on Servant Leadership,” he said. “She created an atmosphere where team members felt empowered to share their thoughts and concerns with respect to what our company's challenges are and how we can improve.”
Terri’s focus during the facilitation helped lead O’Brien participants to their own conclusions of who they are and how they will be.
Since Terri’s training with O’Brien, the team is still putting the tools learned to use and building upon those tools for continued improvement on a holistic level.
“Servant Leadership is a way of being,” Karli said. “You have to believe it on a personal and internal level. It is a mindset that requires continual growth and challenging yourself to be in a
