The strong, graceful Odette captivates young and lonely Siegfried, their duets are powered by emotional honesty. She flies across the stage towards him, flanked by shifting formations of swans. But Siegfried mistakenly betrays his love for the fierce passion of Odile… Arching backs, spiralling arms and mesmerising patterns push the dancers to their physical limits in this tale of purity versus seduction. David Dawson’s daring choreography is paired with the sweeping Tchaikovsky score, played live by the Scottish Ballet Orchestra.

Scottish Opera’s La traviata Love and loss are at the core of a doomed love affair in Verdi’s tragic opera. This passionate, gripping and startlingly intimate production, directed by Sir David McVicar, has been celebrated at opera houses around the world.

Giuseppe Verdi’s tragedy – based on Alexandre Dumas fils’ novel – has inspired countless retellings, including cult films Pretty Woman and Moulin Rouge! Hye-Youn Lee (Carmen 2023) brings her signature Violetta to Scotland for the first time, with Ji-Min Park as her ardent lover, Alfredo. Verdi’s magnificent score sweeps the characters through every shifting mood – with some of opera’s most recognisable music including Brindisi (The Drinking Song) and the devastating finale, Addio del passato. Stuart Stratford conducts The Orchestra of Scottish Opera.

Calendar Girls the Musical Following the death of a muchloved husband, a group of ordinary women in a small Yorkshire Women’s Institute are prompted to do an extraordinary thing and set about creating a nude calendar to raise money for charity.

Laurie Brett (EastEnders), Maureen Nolan (The Nolans, Blood Brothers), Lyn Paul (The New Seekers, Blood Brothers), Helen Pearson (Hollyoaks), Samantha Seager (Coronation Street) and Honeysuckle Weeks (Foyle’s War) star as the ladies, who turn preconceptions upside down, but are they prepared for the emotional and personal ramifications they will face as they each come into bloom? The story of the Calendar Girls launched a global phenomenon: copycat calendars, a record-breaking movie, stage play and now a musical written by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth which coined the term ‘craughing’ – the act of crying and laughing at the same time!
