“THERE IS SIMPLY NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT”

THE NEW YORK TIMES

TAKE YOUR GROUP ON AN UNFORGETTABLE JOURNEY

As the sun rises and the city reawakens, watch in awe as giraffes strut, gazelles leap and birds swoop bringing the Serengeti, and the story of Simba, to life all around you… Ingenious puppetry, stunning effects and the enchanting music by Elton John, Tim Rice and Lebo M will transport you to the heart of the African Pridelands.

Disney’s award-winning musical THE LION KING explodes with glorious colours, stunning effects and enchanting music. It follows the powerful story of Simba as he journeys from wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pridelands.

HAMILTON

BE IN THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS

HAMILTON is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway - the story of America then, as told by America now.

Winner of 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical, 7 Olivier Awards, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

Did you know…

20,520 words are sung throughout the show, at an average of 144 words per minute, and if Hamilton were sung at the pace of other musicals, it would take four to six hours to perform.

The rap in the show’s 18th track Guns and Ships is considered to be the fastest song in musical theatre, with an average of 6.3 words a second.

890km... is the distance the show’s two revolves (known as a donut!) have travelled over the course of 1500+ shows so far at the Victoria Palace Theatre. This is the same distance as driving from London to Munich.

DAVID HOCKNEY: BIGGER & CLOSER

Lightroom

THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL

“THE SIGHT IS MAGICAL”

THE OBSERVER

Lightroom is an extraordinary fourstorey-high space in Kings Cross equipped with the latest digital projection and audio technology. Lightroom is London’s new home for spectacular artist-led shows.

Hockney uses the innovative venue to take the audience on a personal journey through his art, featuring iconic paintings alongside some rarely seen pieces and some newly created work.

His life-long fascination with the possibilities of new media is given vibrant expression in a show that invites visitors to see the world through his eyes. In a cycle of six themed chapters, with a specially composed score by Nico Muhly and a commentary by the artist himself, Hockney reveals his process to us. His voice is in our ears as we watch him experimenting with perspective, using photography as a way of ‘drawing with a camera’, capturing the passing of time in his polaroid collages and the joy of spring on his iPad, and showing us why only paint can properly convey the hugeness of the Grand Canyon.

Lightroom is located in King’s Cross on Lewis Cubitt Square, adjacent to Coal Drops Yard and Central St Martin’s. It was designed by Haworth Tompkins as a sister space to the award-winning Bridge Theatre in SE1.
