“Discover the wondrous wizardry and breathtaking magic that has held millions spellbound” – Metro As WICKED celebrates two decades since its Broadway premiere, the blockbuster musical continues to ‘Defy Gravity’ onstage and at the Box Office The London production will shortly welcome its 12 millionth theatregoer to the Apollo Victoria Theatre and, in 2024, it will become the 10th longest running production in West End theatre history. Director Joe Mantello, together with his team of award-winning designers and theatre-makers, has created an imaginative and visually spectacular world within which the musical’s extraordinary story unfolds. The gigantic production, complete with the biggest orchestra in the West End, transports audiences on an escapist adventure in Oz, entertaining all who enter its magical world. Delivering unforgettable memories eight times a week, the Daily Telegraph recently raved: “WICKED will be flying high for years to come.”

Staff review Groups Account Manager Allen Elliott recently saw THE TIME TRAVELLER’S WIFE. Read on to see what he thought of the show… Their relationship is like no other. And yet, it’s like all others. Clare is a talented sculptor and Henry is – well – a time traveller. They meet, fall in love, and marry – but not in that order. Flung apart by time but united by love, Henry is always trying to get back to Clare. Their journey is one of resilience, impossibilities, and trying to hold on to each other when everything is pulling you apart. Having never read the book or seen the film, I didn’t really know what to expect, and a few people had suggested

that because of that, I might not ‘get it’. Well, they were wrong! The leads (David Hunter and Joanna Woodward) were both amazing. Two incredible singers who were able to really display all of the emotions that their characters were going through and I thought they were very believable as a couple in love. The songs were haunting and beautiful (as you would expect from Joss Stone and Dave Stewart) – they really had gravitas and substance to them and fit the tone of the show perfectly.

Booking information THE TIME TRAVELLER’S WIFE at the Apollo Theatre is booking through to 5th October 2024

The time-travelling effects were also very well done and there were two or three moments (which I won’t spoil!) where I was asking myself ‘How did they do that?”

“A riveting adrenaline rush of a show” – The Washington Post He is one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Now, Michael Jackson’s unique and unparalleled artistry comes to the West End stage direct from Broadway in the multiple Tony Award®-winning new musical MJ Centred around the making of his 1992 Dangerous World Tour, MJ goes beyond the singular moves and signature sound of the star to offer a rare look at the creative mind and collaborative spirit that catapulted Jackson to legendary status. Created by two time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and Tony Award®winning director/choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, MJ delivers a theatrical experience like no other, electrifying audiences with dozens of the most iconic songs in music history, including Billie Jean, Beat It, Man in the Mirror, Thriller and Smooth Criminal. MJ will premiere at London’s Prince Edward Theatre with its original lead actor Myles Frost, who won a Tony Award for his star making performance.

Booking information MJ THE MUSICAL at the Prince Edward Theatre is booking from 6th March through to 7th December 2024 Groups of 10+: Price band A reduced to £67, price band C in the Grand Circle reduced to £40 Valid Monday-Wednesday evenings & Thursday matinees from 2nd September 2024 Terms & conditions and exclusions apply. Rates subject to availability and change without notice. Correct at time of print.

Star interview We recently interviewed Myles Frost. Read on to see what he had to say about starring in the West End run of MJ THE MUSICAL… Tell us about how you got the role. The journey started for me when I was 16 and performed Billie Jean on a talent show; my mum recorded it and posted it on YouTube. Fast forward a few years: I’m 21 and in college, and I get a call from my acting coach who said he had a great opportunity. It was an audition for MJ THE MUSICAL – but I didn’t know it was for Broadway, and I didn’t know I was going in for the lead. I had a really bad allergic reaction the day before my actual audition, so I didn’t even get to practise the dance that I was supposed to perform. But somehow, someway, on the day of my audition I was able to do it. A couple of weeks later, I got a call from the director telling me they wanted to give me the role of Michael Jackson, and I was like WHAT! Describe the show in just one sentence A deep dive into Michael’s mind and creative process with a lot of singing, dancing, acting. It’s going to be a lot of fun. What are your favourite songs to perform in the show and why? The first one is Billie Jean, because that’s pretty much how I got here – thanks to that video of me performing it in high school. It’s so fun to perform, and if you think you know how we do it in the show, you don’t! You’ve got to come and see it for yourself. Why should groups book to see the show? Everybody should come and see MJ THE MUSICAL because you get to learn about how Michael wrote his music, his relationship with his family, how the Dangerous tour became the biggest selling tour ever, and a lot, lot more. And you get to see the amazing dancers, myself, and so many other talented people. You should definitely come and see the show – I promise you will leave a lot warmer and a lot happier. 15

Bring the people you love to “the show with the biggest heart in town” – Sunday Express The critically acclaimed new British Musical is an extraordinary story about an ordinary family Based on the Sunday Times best-selling autobiography by Henry Fraser, THE LITTLE BIG THINGS is ‘an immense crowd pleaser’ (The Guardian) with an explosive theatrical pop soundtrack in a world premiere production, now playing @sohoplace until 2 March 2024. When one moment changes everything, Henry’s family are split between a past they no longer recognise, and a future they could never foresee. Can Mum and Dad rally his three brothers; as the family start a journey to accept and adapt? This uplifting and colourful new musical is a life-affirming reminder about the transformative power of family, and how sometimes it really is the little things which matter the most. Henry Fraser said: “There have been many things that have happened since my accident that I never thought about in life, never planned and really surprised me, in a great way. This musical is one of those moments. The guys have been great to work with and the moment they played me a couple of songs I was sold. Star interview “The story of my holiday tragedy is now a West End musical.” Henry Fraser tells us how his memoir about the accident that left him paralysed from the shoulders down has been made into a show, THE LITTLE BIG THINGS.

started writing down — using voice-activated software — what had happened to him. He found that the act of saying it out loud helped him to “let go of a lot”. He put this writing on his website too. “That was huge. That was probably ten months after the accident,” he says.

‘This is the last thing I thought would happen,” Henry Fraser says about his life being turned into a West End musical. Mind you, he adds, nor did he expect to write THE LITTLE BIG THINGS, his 2017 memoir on which the show is based. That book is all about the life-changing accident on a beach holiday in Portugal in July 2009 that led to him being paralysed from the shoulders down, age 17. He’s 31 now, and has to admit that those 14 years have been pretty much packed with “things happening that I never ever expected”.

don’t hold anything back.

He wasn’t sure how he would react when he saw himself on stage portrayed by two actors, one able-bodied and one in a wheelchair. And, yes, he suspected he might get emotional, which he never has in public since his book launch. “I processed things early on,” he says. “And when I give talks, or in my books [he’s also written a self-help book, The Power in You], I

“I went from being this rugby playing, gymgoing guy to now being razor thin, clothes hanging off me, a tracheotomy, an oxygen tank, all of that... And I just broke totally. I went, ‘Why me?’ and I cried till I went to sleep that night. I just couldn’t stop. I was on some pretty heavy sleeping tablets and not even they could knock me out.”. He returned to the family home, and

He gave his first speech to the first team at Saracens rugby club, where his brother Will was a player at the time. It took him about six months to get a half hour speech together. A psychologist there helped him to fillet what he had written. He was terrified. But the moment the talk began he loved it. The man who became his agent saw the speech online. It led to his book and its follow-up and now this musical “I think one of the things that resonates with people who’ve read the book or seen the stage show is that I’m just being myself. I’m not trying to hide. That is me.” The list of pleasant surprises in Henry Fraser’s life may grow longer still. “Goal setting was big for me early on. But since I’ve become busier and more settled it’s about riding the wave and seeing what’s coming next.” 19

Star interview We recently interviewed Joanne Clifton and Antony Lawrence. Read on to see what they had to say... You are in the middle of a UK tour at the moment. What has the response been like from the audiences? Joanne: Amazing! Full crowds of both children and adults, standing ovations galore and everyone dancing with us at the end! Antony: The response from the audiences all across the country has been amazing. Both adults and children have been laughing, crying, cheering. It really has been a special night in the theatre each night. At the end of the show you feel like a rockstar with the volume of applause. How are you feeling about taking to the London stage next summer? J: Playing my dream role in London. What more could I ask for?! I’ll probably cry on opening night! A: I am so excited to be bringing this show into London for the summer. It is the perfect summer feel good show with a beautiful message behind it. It will be a real honour to get to play Shrek in London. Are there any similarities between yourself and your character? J: She’s a Princess, I’m a World Champion Ballroom dancer. She’s an ogre, I’m from Grimsby. It’s my perfect role! A: There are too many it is actually quite scary. I keep checking the mirror each day to see if I am starting to turn green! The story of Shrek is about someone who has a lack of self confidence because of the way they look, the way they can’t seem to fit into the world, the way they don’t have the confidence to be the hero they are on the inside because the world around them puts them down and type casts

them into a category. I have always struggled to believe in myself. I often say I need to take a leaf out of Shrek’s book and know that I just need to be myself and I will find my way in the world and the right people will find me.

a half hours before the show begins to do my warm-up and get in to the makeup chair which is a 90 minute process to get the prosthetics on. Followed by a 15 minute process of getting into the fat suit and costume.

What is your favourite song in the show and why?

Why should groups book to see the show?

J: I love ‘Who I’d Be’. It’s emotional and it’s Me, Shrek and Donkey. A real poignant and emotional moment in a show full of fun. And ‘I Got You Beat’. Farts and burps! What more could anyone want?! A: I go through phases of which song is my favourite because they are all so good. Right now it is “When Words Fail”. Because it is such a sweet moment in Shrek’s journey where he is practicing in front of a mirror on how to speak to the girl (Fiona). And the nerves that that brings him and he keeps getting tongue tied. And I think people can all relate to that moment as we all can remember a time where we tried to work out exactly how to speak to the girl or boy we liked. It’s super sweet.

J: It’s a funny, exciting show full of heart for the whole family. Official Dreamworks production. The story and all the characters that everyone in the world know and love, plus some beautiful original songs. Fun with important messages. Are you a believer? Coz we are! A: It is a great night out at the theatre. Theatre is an experience and it’s a great thing to experience together with people. It creates conversations that can go on for hours, days, months after you’ve all seen something. And I think SHREK will be the perfect show. It is big, bright and beautiful and you don’t want to miss it!

How long does it take you to get into costume? J: I don’t come on til 35 mins into the show. And most of the show I’m human Fiona. Iconic green dress, lovely red hair, green boots and a crown. So, I have all the time in the world to get ready! A: For me it is quite the process. I have to be at the theatre 2 and 25
