98% of our general education courses have zero textbook cost. Instead, we use free online resources to help lower your expenses each semester.

AFFORDABILITY

As part of the City University of New York we place quality, affordability, and value at the forefront of everything we do. Our tuition is among the lowest in New York State. A CUNY education costs a fraction of private school tuition.

Our financial aid counselors will work with you to combine federal and state funds, scholarships, grants, loans, or veteran’s benefits to help you pay for your education.

CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING

Transfer up to 105 credits through prior learning and work experience

There’s more than one way to earn credit toward your degree. We offer a number of Credit for Prior Learning opportunities for undergraduates that make it possible to earn credit for your previous education and workplace training.

For example, we accept credits from other regionally accredited institutions, corporate or military training programs, and college level exam programs. We also help you identify ways to earn credit for knowledge gained outside the classroom through the development of a portfolio

STUDENT SERVICES

Our staff will work with you to support you from admission through graduation, ensuring that you have consistent guidance during your time at CUNY SPS.

• Career Services offers access to job and internship postings, career advising, professional development events such as mock interview days and virtual career fairs, in addition support for experiential learning

• Academic Advisement helps students achieve their academic goals

• Disability Services provides accommodations and support services to students with disabilities

• Student Counseling Services gives free and confidential mental health resources

• Veterans Services fosters a sense of community among veteran and reservist students

• Student Life encourages networking opportunities and participation in participation in the student association, the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success, in addition to clubs and activities such as the Black Student Union, The Kiosk (School’s newspaper), the Film Club, Delta Alpha Pi and more

Upon graduation, you’ll have access to a number of events, such as summer and spring outings, multi-campus events that bridge alumni from other CUNY schools, coffee with our dean, and alumni engagement council meetings. Additionally, our social media channels give you 24/7 access to different members of our community

APPLICATION PROCESS

In order to be considered for admission, you will need:

Transcript(s) with a minimum of 24 credits* from a regionally accredited institution

A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher*

Basic skill requirements in reading, writing, and math

Personal essay

$70 non-refundable application fee

JUMP START

Jump Start is an alternate portfolio-based application process for applicants with a GPA below 2.5.

Instead of focusing on traditional academic requirements, this new admissions approach allows you to create a portfolio that demonstrates the college-level skills and knowledge you’ve developed inside or outside of a college classroom in areas such as leadership, research, technical skills, professional writing, and languages.
