VACCINATION: All our programmes require training at clinical facilities (hospitals, laboratories, private facilities, ambulances, etc.) where you will be interacting with patients. Certain vaccinations, such as Hepatitis B, are compulsory, and others may be required according to the regulations of the health service or relevant employer. You will therefore need to be appropriately vaccinated to access these facilities to complete your respective qualification.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION 2024 Detailed registration information and registration dates are available in the 2024 Registration Booklet available via the following link: http://www.cput.ac.za/students/about/registration Note: Registration is an online process and conducted off-campus. Please contact the Call Centre should you require additional registration assistance. The Call Centre has extended their hours from 15 January 2024 until 29 February 2024 and are available as follows: Monday - Thursday from 07h30 to 19h00 and Fridays from 08h00 to 16h00. Alternatively, please access the following link for detailed staff contact information: https://www.cput.ac.za/enquiries Students who wrote their Final Grade 12 Exams in 2022 (or earlier), and have been fully accepted, will have access to register from as early as Monday, 29 January 2024 until Friday, 9 February 2024. Final evaluation (screening) of the 2023 NSC results will be conducted from Monday, 22 January 2024 until Friday, 26 January 2024. All NSC results as received by CPUT will be verified against the official results published by the Department of Basic Education and Training. Applicants must track the final outcome of their application via the following link: https://www.cput.ac.za/study/track; the outcome will also be communicated via an automated SMS to the cell phone number provided to CPUT during your application for the 2024 academic year. Please register within 48 hours from receipt of this SMS to avoid your space being allocated to the next deserving applicant. Please note: The University strives towards being a student-centered institution and has invested a lot in ensuring the smooth running of online registration. Therefore, we would like to encourage students to make use of the online registration platform rather than having to stand in long queues at campus. Students should only visit the on-campus venues indicated in the registration booklet should they experience technical difficulties. Please refer to the faculty specific information in the registration booklet in this regard.

Please note that classes will commence on Monday, 12 February 2024.


FIRST-YEAR WELCOMING Student Affairs will have campus stalls, exhibitors, and activities (10:00 - 14:00) taking place on campus at the first year welcoming as per the dates announced in the institutional calendar. The Vice-Chancellor will address all registered first-year students on-campus and in-person on the following dates: Department of Ophthalmic Sciences and Department of Wellness Sciences students: • 13 February 2024: 10h00 - District Six Campus – Piazza Department of Biomedical Sciences, Department of Dental Sciences, Department of Emergency Medical Sciences, Department of Medical Imaging and Therapeutic Sciences and Department of Nursing Science students: • 14 February 2024: 10h00 - Bellville Campus - Major Sports Hall

STUDENT CARDS Registered first-year students can obtain their student cards as from 29 January 2024 until 1 March 2024 (registration for 1st years start 29 January 2024) Note: A physical or an electronic Proof of Registration is always required.

DEMS FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE (FYE) 2024 The Department of Emergency Medical Sciences (DEMS) at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), Bellville Campus look forward to welcoming you to the DEMS orientation from Wednesday, 14 February 2024 to Friday, 16 February 2024. Please report to the DEMS at Bellville Campus in the Old Education Building, Room E1.01 (Lecture Theatre 3) on Wednesday, 14 February 2024 at 12:00. Please Note: • Wednesday, 14 February to Friday, 16 February 2024 will be all-day classroom-based activities. • Please dress appropriately in casual wear. Application for Exemption and/or Recognition of Credits: • If you have completed subject(s) at another university or at CPUT which is the same/similar to the subject(s) you have registered for at the DEMS and you wish to apply for Exemption and/or Recognition of credits, please contact Ms Raquel Lewis (lewisra@cput.ac.za) for further information in this regard. • The application for Exemption and/or Recognition of Credits must be finalised by 14 February 2024, and you must be registered at the time of application for the respective DEMS subject(s) you wish to be exempted from. • Please note that this is not Recognition of Prior Learning.
