08 December 2023 Dear Students TO ALL STUDENTS IN THE FACULTY OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES When we started the academic year in February 2023, the end of the year seemed a long way off. As staff we had great plans of how the year would unfold for learning, teaching and assessment, and as students you had goals of achieving academic success in all your registered subjects. We trust that your goals and objectives for academic success, and your ventures and endeavours for AY2023 were realised. Well done to all students who passed their subjects in Academic Year 2023 (AY2023)! Lecturers and support staff made every effort to be an integral part of your academic journey by providing interventions and support in addition to tuition provided. As such, we share in your successes and are proud of your achievements. Success is the result of serious dedication and hard work. Congratulations to all students who will be graduating in 2024, especially to those who will be graduating Cum Laude. The faculty applauds your achievements. Sometimes unplanned life events happen that prevent us from achieving our goals. To those students who were not successful in some or other subject, it is important to continue your journey to achieve your goals and dreams. With reference to Academic Year 2024, kindly be informed that all tuition will be on campus, with in-person classes being the mode of learning. teaching and assessments. Education is a social endeavour. It is necessary for students to interact with other students in-person to have a full student learning experience, as well as for staff to be in contact with students other than a laptop screen. Students should, therefore, make the necessary accommodation and transport arrangements to commence classes on campus, on 29 January 2024. Students are reminded to register online before classes commence. Time-tables, subject guides and year schedules will be shared by lecturers and departments via the CPUT Learner Management System. To note, as a country we are currently commemorating 16 Days of Activism, a campaign to highlight the scourge of gender-based violence. Let us all be ambassadors for the No Violence against Women and Children Campaign by choosing words carefully, not being sexist, being kind, and by fully respecting the rights of all with whom we engage. In closing, enjoy a pleasant holiday, and rest well before AY2024 commences. Take care, be safe at all times and enjoy quality time with family and friends. Yours faithfully
