WASHINGTON STATE

FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW 2022 PARTNER DIRECTORY HALL 1 BOOTH 1351

WELCOME TO FARNBOROUGH 2022 Washington state has proudly led the way in innovation in the aviation and space industry for more than 100 years. We have produced some of the most advanced aircraft, uncrewed aerial systems and space exploration vehicles the world has ever seen. By almost any measure, we are The State of U.S. Aerospace. Washington is well-known for a comprehensive supply chain that developed from the birth of Boeing, and today serves every major aircraft manufacturer and airline in the world. It’s the largest in the U.S. and the second-largest supplier to Airbus, with more than 130,000 highly skilled workers. Washington has consistently ranked #1 in U.S. aerospace sales, exports, profits and jobs for over a decade. Washington companies revolutionized the aerospace industry, and they keep pushing boundaries. Today it’s a rapidly-growing commercial space sector, including legendary firms such as Aerojet Rocketdyne and Boeing, and new entrants such as Blue Origin, Kymeta, Spaceflight Industries and SpaceX. Nearly 40% of Earth’s active satellites were manufactured in Washington.

We are also leading the way in clean, sustainable technologies. For example, magniX is producing a new generation of electric motors. These new motors will power Alice, Eviation’s new electric aircraft set to begin flight trials this fall. Both companies are shining examples of how Washington’s commitment to a zero-carbon future is transforming industries across the spectrum. Forward-thinking public-private partnerships, including two growing innovation clusters - led by the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance and Aerospace Futures Alliance – are helping to ensure a sustainable future. An emphasis on training and education ensures a ready pipeline of talented specialists in avionics, robotics, logistics, production, interiors and advanced materials. Coupled with research and development at our state universities and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Washington is well-positioned to continue leading innovation for years to come. As governor, I know that part of our strength is in the many partnerships we have with labor, business and local governments, who are working hard to position Washington State for its second century of aviation and space leadership.

As you tour the Farnborough Airshow in the coming days, I encourage you to visit the ChooseWashington Pavilion and explore business and investment opportunities in Washington. We are delighted to have nearly two dozen companies and organizations with us this year – our largest delegation ever. I also invite you to visit our beautiful and dynamic state to see for yourself why Washington is one of the world’s best places to do business. Jay Inslee Governor
