"Docs in the Park is a medical initiative that promotes all the benefits of being outside in our parks as part of a healthy lifestyle. The core mission of DITP is to promote nature awareness, outside play, family engagement, healthy nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Frederick County Parks & Rec is there for you and your family in each of those areas as you can see from browsing through the Recreater, but you may not be aware of the cooking and healthy nutrition classes and family engagement programs they offer. In our busy lives and schedules, learning to cook and spending the time understanding healthy diets and nutrition is getting lost along the way. We spend too little time learning about something that is essential to our health and well-being. Learning about and enjoying cooking and healthy eating is an important life skill and family tradition that we hand down from generation to generation. Taking the time (and patience) to be with your family and to learn (or relearn) some basic concepts or new and improved techniques about cooking and healthy foods is closely aligned with LiveWell Frederick and its 5-2-1-0! Initiative. FCPR is excited to further expand on this concept – it’s the right thing for you and your family!" MATHEMATICS MATHNASIUM NUMBER SENSE POWER WORKOUT

Whether your child is struggling with math or crazy about numbers, the NUMBER SENSE power workout is for them! Problem solving skills, the centerpiece of modern mathematics education, have their roots in NUMBER SENSE, which is an integral component of everyone’s “mathematical toolkit”. A student can be said to have basic NUMBER SENSE when s/he can count from any number, to any number, by any number; split a number into any number of parts; compare any two numbers by subtraction and division; use all of the above and the idea that “the whole is equal to the sum of its parts” to solve non-routine problems and determine the reasonableness of their answers. Get a NUMBER SENSE power workout with Mathnasium of Frederick North, your neighborhood math-only learning center! This class is for 8 scheduled sessions at the Mathnasium of Frederick North Location. Your first session will be an assessment where your child will be assessed to learn exactly what your child knows and what they need to learn or improve on. Your child will then have a customized learning plan which identifies the math concepts needed to meet the specific learning goals for your child. Register with Parks and Recreation and save BIG on 8 one hour 1:1 tutoring sessions. 8 Sessions must be scheduled by 11/15/19. 8 week session.
