FITNESS&WELLNESS YOUTH / ADULT YOGA & PILATES (15 YRS+)

BEGINNER HATHA

GENTLE HATHA YOGA

HAPPY HIPS YOGA

Get back to the basics or start your yoga journey with Beginner’s Hatha Yoga. Awaken your mind and body as you restore and gain flexibility so energy can flow freely Each week we will be diving deep into the most basic physical postures, breathing practices, and relaxation techniques. We will build on what we learned from the weeks before so you will have a greater understanding of proper alignment and positioning, how to make any required modifications to suit your body, and the many benefits of yoga.

In our busy society relaxation is seldom practiced yet is a wellness skill needed to combat stress on the mind and body. Slow progressive movement using modified yoga asanas suited for a wide range of abilities, flexibilities, and mobilities will make this class an enjoyable way to regain or build your strength, range of motion and balance. Gentle Hatha Yoga has many benefits to offer to both mind and body. Treat yourself to this class, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. No prior yoga experience is necessary.

Hips are magnificent joints, designed to move in 6 different ways. However, due to stress and lifestyle they are often a source of pain and stiffness. This class will use movements designed to open the hips in order to bring balance and flexibility to this important area of the body. Come and feel the joy of happy hips.

HATHA YIN YOGA

INTRODUCTION TO ASHTANGA YOGA

You will learn the sequences of asanas and postures designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. Restore and gain flexibility, strengthen & tone. Hatha Yoga is a powerful tool for selftransformation, bringing your attention to your breath, helping to still the mind and be more present. Yin Yoga has come to be known as ‘the quiet yet profound yoga practice’. Bringing balance with the experience of centering inside, quieting the mind, letting the connective tissues gently release, and allowing greater flexibility than you have ever felt. Relax and enjoy the benefits of two yoga styles in one class.

REALIGNMENT YOGA

HATHA STRENGTH YOGA

YIN / YOGA NIDRA

This class combines the mindfulness of yoga with weights, resistance bands, bender balls and natural human movement.

The first half of this class is a low, slow, still seated yin sequence suitable for all levels to achieve a deep stretch. Then we dive into Yoga Nidra, a deep relaxation to bring about total release, awareness and restoration. Yoga Nidra has been shown to help with chronic pain, stress, sleep problems and anxiety. It is done lying down so it’s comfortable and achievable for all levels.

HATHA YOGILATES The perfect blend of Hatha Yoga and Pilates brings balance to both the mind and body. Restore and gain flexibility, strengthen and tone your core. You will love the results!

FLOW YOGA Let the beauty of nature enhance your flow yoga practice to connect your mind, body and spirit in the relaxing environment of West River’s Edge. Overlook beautiful natural surroundings as you flow through your practice creating positive energy and strength.

Ashtanga Yoga is a sequence of postures designed to bring incredible strength, flexibility and endurance to the body with a sense of stillness to the mind. You will learn the fundamentals of Ashtanga yoga, sun salutations, Ujjayi breath, energy locks and Vinyasas. This realignment class will correct problems such as pain in your shoulders, hips, knees, ankles due to misalignment. This class may help to realign allowing your body to bring you back to full mobility. No previous yoga experience is required and anyone, teens through seniors, may participate in this program.

CHAIR YOGA Applicable to everyone but especially geared to accommodate those recovering from an injury, surgery or mobility issues. Come learn how to use a simple chair to improve flexibility, strength, release tension and calm the mind. Apply what you learn to your home or work environment. No yoga experience necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket and yoga mat.

GENTLE YOGA This gentle class is excellent for beginners & individuals with health, balance or mobility issues. Restore and gain flexibility, strengthen & tone as you awaken your mind and body.

RELAXATION YOGA Come unwind and relax from the stresses of your day with this slow, calming, meditative yoga class. Combining breath with movement, we will gently release tension stored in our bodies and build on practices to ground ourselves.

YIN YOGA We work hard to strengthen our muscles but are we caring for our connective tissue in the same way? Yin yoga is a slow, meditative yoga practice that helps to stretch and lengthen our connective tissues. In a safe and passive manner, we move past the muscles into the deepest tissues of the body, the fascia. Yin poses are held longer, allowing the mind to slow and our body to soften into the pose to help release tension held in the fascia.

PRENATAL YOGA Join together with other pregnant women to experience the many physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of prenatal yoga. This gentle class emphasizes poses and techniques to help expectant mothers relax and cope with the common discomforts of pregnancy and prepare for the miracle of birth. Prenatal yoga can improve sleep patterns and encourages the mother to connect emotionally and mentally with herself and her baby. (ParQ MedX must be filled out prior to the first class.)

YIN & ACUPUNCTURE WORKSHOP NEW! Come reflect, be, and let go as the class is lead through a series of yin poses to dive into a sea of relaxation where one can shift from a state of Yang doing into a state of Yin being. Yin yoga moves beyond the muscles and stretches the deepest tissues of the body, the fascia. To enhance the powerful effects of Yin yoga, a registered acupuncturist will provide acupressure to help students soften and release during poses. During the final resting pose, acupuncture is applied to increase the relaxation effect leaving one tranquil, still, and at peace.
