BIRMINGHAM, Ala. __ Tuskegee men's and women's Track & Field teams registered a strong outing on Saturday at the Samford Bulldog Open inside of the Birmingham CrossPlex.
On the track, freshman
Justin Stith started things off in the men's 60m with a time of 7.16 seconds, placing ninth, while
Lamont Brinson (7.40) and
Shawn Jarrett II (7.42) also posted sub-7.5 times.
Jordan Webb was the final finisher in the men's 60m, recording a time of 7.58 seconds.
Stith was also posted the fastest TU time in the men's 200m at 23.07, followed by Brinson and
Deinkepribo Harry with times of 23.33 and 24.25, respectively. In the men's 800m,
Dennis Toles ran the best time for a Golden Tiger at 2:20.38, followed by
Antonio Heng (2:30.39) and
Jaiden Turner (2:34.89). The three distance runners also competed in the men's mile, with Toles leading again at 5:38.05, before Heng (5:50.83) and Turner (6:13.58).
Christian Sanders took third place in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 9.06, while two teams ran in the men's 4x400, recording times of 3:34.58 and 3:50.44.
In the field events,
Drake Hudson and
Caleb White both took part in the men's shot put, posting marks of 12.14m and 11.80m respectively, followed later by the men's weight throw where White finished at 12.43m,
Skyler Carrillo finished at 9.22m, and Hudson finished at 9.20m.
In the women's 60m,
Anitria Sangster ran a time of 7.70 in the prelims, however
De'Shell Carr and
Jahkaya McBurney were the contestants in the final heat with times of 8.32 and 8.68.
Sangster placed seventh in the 200m at 24.85, followed by teammates
Amira Broussard (27.01) and
Kamri Gilbert (29.30). In the 400, the three runners were
Madison Minga-Perry (1:05.31),
Yasmin Davis (1:11.34), and Gilbert (1:15.81).
Akierah Walker and
Anaya Martin finished consecutively in the 800m at 20th and 21st with times of 2:36.56 and 2:37.44, while a pair of 4x400 units finished with times of 4:10.71 (5th) and 4:36.71 (10th).
In the field events, Carr finished at 13 with a distance of 5.06m, while both
Victoria Bracy (11.27m) and
Danielle Wilson (11.19m) finished in the top-15 in the shot put.
