ATLANTA, Ga. __ Tuskegee track and field teams concluded its regular season schedule over the weekend in a two-day Georgia Tech Invitational and saw success in several events, including 18 new personal bests.
A pair of top-20 finishes highlighted the field events on Friday on the women's side, as
Danielle Wilson finished 19th in the discus at 36.04 meters, while
Matealia Harper took 19th In the javelin throw with a distance of 29.64 meters, followed by
Madison Minga-Perry who was just outside the top-20, recording a personal record in the javelin at 19.49 meters, good for 23rd.
A trio of Golden Tigers recorded PRs on the men's side, including Lamon Brinson,
Skyler Carrillo, and
Jaiden Turner. Brinson had a mark of 6.37 meters in the long jump for a new best, Carrillo finished with a mark of 12.10 meters in the shot put, while Turner threw for 35.89 meters in the javelin event.
Tuskegee saw 13 new personal bests on the track on Saturday, with five on the women's side and eight on the men's side.
Kamri Gilbert and
Jahkaya McBurney both set PRs in the 200m with times of 25.89 and 26.61, respectively, while
Anitria Sangster set a new best in the 400 at 56.56, finishing 22nd.
Akierah Walker and
Anaya Martin also set new personal records as Walker finished the 1500 with a time of 5:24.62, while Martin finished the steeplechase at 12:57.25.
Avery Thomas led the men's side with three PRs on the track, running a 11.36 in the 100m, 22.78 in the 200m, and a 59.64 in the 400m hurdles. Shawn Jarrett finished the 100m at 11.31, his new best, while
Justin Stith took a new PR in the 200m at 22.34.
Gregory Baranco and
Jaiden Turner both set personal bests in the 400m at 54.82 and 58.37, followed with the last personal record of the meet from
Deinkepribo Harry in the 110m hurdles with a time of 19.34.
UP NEXT
Tuskegee men's & women's track & field program will return to action next weekend, traveling to Morehouse College and B.T. Harvey Stadium for SIAC Track & Field Championship, which will run from Thursday, Apr. 25, to Saturday, Apr. 27.
