BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ^__ The Tuskegee men's and women's track & field team competed at the two-day UAB Spring Classic in Birmingham, hosted by UAB, and picked up 23 top-ten finishes and posted 25 PRs. 

On day one in the field, Matealia Harper posted two PRs in the women's hammer throw and discus. Harper registered throws of 30-plus meters in both events, marking 34.20m (112' 2") in the hammer throw event for 11th place and improved her discus mark with a new personal best of 31.31m (102' 9'') to take tenth place. Harper also finished seventh in the women's javelin with a throw of 32.32m (106' 0''). 
 
Meanwhile, Caleb White also posted two PRs on the weekend in the hammer throw and discus, taking fifth in the hammer at 38.23m (134' 8") and seventh in the discus at 44.32m (145' 5"). Drake Hudson registered the best throw of his career with a distance of 44.66m (146' 6") to take sixth in the discus, along with finishing seventh in the javelin at 41.29m (135' 5") and 12th in the hammer throw at 24.82m (81' 5").

Tuskegee had four other athletes earn top ten finishes in Friday's field events that included De'Shell Carr (10th) in the long jump with a leap of 4.85m (15' 11''), Danielle Wilson in the javelin (8th) with a distance of 31.46m (103' 2") in the hammer throw (10th) at 38.23m (125' 5"), Victoria Bracy (10th) in the discus at 31.31m (102' 9"), and Christian Sanders who registered a new PR in the men's triple jump with a jump of 12.11m (39' 8.75''). 

On the track Friday, TU set ten new PRs between the women's and men's 100m and 400m events. Kamri Gilbert (12.75) and Akierah Walker were the lone PRs on the women's side in the 100m and 400m respectively, while Justin Stith (10.99) finished eighth, Lamont Brinson (11.03) finished tenth, along with Jordan Webb (11.69), Gregory Baranco (12.01), and Jaiden Turner (12.72) all registered PRs in the 100m.
 
In the 400m, Dennis Toles (50.20) finished sixth, Shawn Jarrett II (50.39) finished eighth, along with Christopher Taylor (56.07) all earned PRs in the 400m event on the men's side.

Walker and Taylor also set PRs in the distance events, with Walker running 5:29.44 in the women's 1500m, while Taylor ran a 4:59.79 in the men's 1500m. Meanwhile, Anaya Martin set new personal bests in the 5000m and 3000m Steeplechase with times of 21:52.89 and 12:33.33, respectively.

Tuskegee men's & women's track & field program will return to action next weekend, traveling to the Jesse H. Colley Track Complex for the Troy Invitational, which will run from Friday, Apr. 12, to Saturday, Apr. 13.
