Chesnut ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. Senate, representing Wyoming. He defeated Al Hamburg and William Bryk in the August 21, 2012, Democratic primary. He lost to incumbent John Barrasso (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]
