|Mauro Garza is a Native Texan, Business Owner, and Father. I am running to represent the 20th Congressional District of Texas. I am a Pro-Life, Pro 2nd Amendment Candidate who believes in Strong Borders, a Strong Military, and Low Taxes.
I seek to continue my service to the great people of Texas by running for the U.S. House of Representatives seat for the 20th District of Texas. The Community is asking for an Authentic Leader with Strong Business Experience. They want a leader who is present, listens to their needs and fights for what matters most to families across the District. My vision is to ensure the people continue to have a voice that does not fall on deaf ears.
- PROTECT TAXPAYERS AND THEIR MONEY: Balance the budget, reduce debt, and lower taxes. Fight Socialism and Keep America Great. No misuse of taxpayer money. End wasteful spending.
- DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION AND TEXAS VALUES: Defend the Bill of rights, especially the Right to Bear Arms. I will not sell out to the DC swamp and become part of the establishment. Fight Democrats who try to take away our Right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
- KEEP AMERICA SAFE AND SECURE: Secure the border. Whoever comes to our country must follow the rules. Defend our military and ensure they are fully funded to protect our nation. Law enforcement must be trusted, and our judicial system held accountable to punish criminals, not law-abiding citizens.
I am passionate about bringing true representation back to the people of San Antonio's District 20. For too long, the current politician has roamed unchecked and unaccountable to this "solid blue" district, campaigning for politicians and activists while failing to campaign for the citizens of his own district. I intent to work for the voters of District 20 and not the whims of lobbyists and party bosses in Washington.
I intend to end the destructive culture of politicization in Washington and bring true pragmatic leadership to the swamp in Washington.
I am amazed and impressed by the current President, Donald Trump, who has taken on the Washington DC swamp full-bore. He has proven that a business owner like me, with no prior political experience, can run and win against the Political Class. I am excited to join with him in Washington to bring practical real-world solutions to our nations capital.
An elected official's most important characteristics are his or her integrity and commitment to fulfill their promises. I intend to plaster my campaign promises in every visual location of my congressional office so that I never lose focus on the issues that are important to the people of my district.
I am committed the conservative principle that everyone has value and everyone deserves for their voice to be heard. I refuse to play the games o the political class, dividing Americans by age, sex, race and other factors. I will not fall into the traps of identity politics and will treat all persons with the respect that they deserve.
When I enter office as the Congressional Representative for District 20, I will be legislating to protect the property of the citizens of my district, ensuring the safety and success of our armed forces, and protecting our porous borders. Above all else, my core responsibility is fighting and ending the destructive political culture in the halls and streets of Washington DC.
I will leave a legacy that my son will be proud of. When my tenure in US Congress is done, I will be known as a representative who fought tirelessly for the needs of the people of my district and not the whims of the power brokers in the political class. I will be known as a man who, when there was a mess to be cleaned, rushed to find a mop rather than rushing to find a camera and a microphone.
I had the opportunity to shake the hand of Ronald Reagan in Corpus Christi, TX as a young boy. I could not of known that he would become the great President we now know, but I certainly knew I was meeting someone out of the ordinary, a history-maker.
My career began with the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (TCADA) in Austin, Texas in 1991. While working full-time I maintained academic endeavors with evening and weekend research studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I completed his Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Neurophysiology in 1992, under a Biomedical Research Scholarship.
I believe that we must use the systems in place to ensure maximum fair representation for the citizenry. Where we find areas where the systems do not work in ensuring that representation, we must use the legislative process to apply those changes to our laws.
The US House of Representatives is often referred to the "People's House" because it is the one of three lawmaking bodies(House, Senate and Presidency) which was directly elected in this Constitutional Republic. That structure has change, with the Senate now being popularly elected and movements toward the same, but the House has maintained the moniker, with fewer citizens per representative than any other federal elected office.
With that said, the US House has become increasingly unaccountable to voters over the years, creating a shift in power from the people to the political parties. I intend to be a voice for change which brings a voice back to the people of Texas, and with that the political power which the Constitution intended.
I do believe that government and political experience can be beneficial for representatives, though it can also become a detriment once a politician becomes attached to the mechanisms of the political class. In the same way that government experience can be of benefit, real-world business experience can be a far greater benefit because it brings the elements of efficiency, pragmatism, and practical solutions. Those three elements are in greater need right now in Washington than "government experience," which is beyond surplus.
Our nation's greatest challenge is the destructive political culture where the political class fights ruthlessly to maintain their stronghold on the power-structure in Washington. They are entrenched in their lavish lifestyles and are determined to destroy any people and institutions who threaten it.
The endless quest to score "political points" rather than find practical solutions has created an environment where politicians place their political ambitions and personal agendas above the citizens whom they are supposed to represent.
I will be an excellent change agent as a member of the Budget, Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs committees. These positions will allow me to pursue my campaign goals of protecting taxpayers and their money, protecting and defending our borders, and fully funding and equipping our Men and Women in uniform
I have signed a commitment to serve a maximum of three congressional terms, two which I will intentionally pursue and a third if the people of Texas House District 20 demand it of me. I believe all elected representatives should be subject to term limits and will be an active member in the pursuit of that goal.
There are many good, hard-working representatives who I would like to emulate in many ways. I supported and endorsed Chip Roy, who represents parts of San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country, and I believe he has done a fantastic job of Representing those voters. One of my favorite representatives from past Houses is David Crockett, who understood the Constitutionally limited role of Government and volunteered his own life for the vital cause of freedom and independence from tyranny.
I meet with the people of my congressional district weekly and hear many moving and inspiring stories, which I would not share without permission from those individuals. I will say that those citizens of District 20 are where I establish my priorities and where I draw my energy and enthusiasm. They are where I look for ideas, solutions and priorities because they are my ears on the street.
